Played 11/7 on golf extra 1/2 off. Conditions are very nice. It's a tough course. Par threes are harder than some of the par fours. Par 5 #6 was playing only 430 yards. Needless to say, eagle was ez. All the home construction going on around the course is an eye sore. I would agree, Goose Creek is a better value and just as challenging.

Played today, 11-02-05, on a Golf Extra Card at 1/2 price, ($42)oterwise would not have. Way to overpriced for a weekday rate. Tee'd off on time but was behind a group who were playing from the blacks that should not have. Therefore it took us 4hr 45min. I wish golf courses would enforce a rule if your not a scratch golfer or a least a less than 10 handicapper, you cant play from the blacks. Especially a course like Blackgold. This is a target golf corse. If you have problems slicing the ball, dont play here. It is just not a forgiving course. Course was in decent shape and the staff was freindly. As with the green fees, food is overpriced too. But hey, It's Orange County!! Goose Creek here we come!

Had a tee time at 10:26 a.m. on Saturday, October 1. Didn't tee off until after 11:00 a.m. with no explanation from anyone as to why things were so backed up. Could it be the 2nd hole that's less than 300 yards which encourages every weekend hacker to wait for the green to clear before attempting to drive it? Who knows. This course is in great condition, but due to the inexplicable late tee-off and the 5.5-hour round (with no marshals anywhere on the course), I'll never even consider playing Black Gold again on a weekend, even with click4teetime.com's discounted greens fee. If that's what Orange County golfers put up with every weekend, I feel bad for them.

To the starter on this morning--you are a weirdo! We played first 6 holes in about an hour. It took 4hours for the next 12. why? yep-a shotgun tournament ahead of us. If it was not for ball marks, the greens would be a 10. The rest of course is nice. Except for some areas that where overwatered. Tee shots are critical here. Not too tough a course after that in that it is not long. I used lots of short irons for approaches today. There are 4 great risk/reward par 5's. I will only play here if there is a good discount on the fees. It is a little pricey.

This was a very fun course. It will challenge the low-handicapper,, but is a very fair layout. I would suggest to anyone.
