Played 11-15-05. Course was in very good shape. This course has made so many improvements in the last several years. Greens were in better shape than the last time we played, about 6 months ago. Just a fun course to play! The only downside was when we got there we were told cart path only because of overseeding. Was not told that when we made the tee time. I guess you have to ask each and every time you call for a tee time to make sure there are no special playing conditions......UGH! No matter what course you call or the time of year. Cart path only is supposed to last only for a few mores days, so beware if it makes a difference to you.

Played on 11-10-05. Where has the customer service gone to? We came from Orange County and when we arrived we noticed the parking lot was not very crowded at all and then it started to rain. We debated if we should play or not but since it was light rain, we decided to stick it out hoping the rain would stop. There 5 of us so they said they were going to split us up as a 3 and 2 some. Absolutely not a problem. We were getting to ready to tee off when they added a single and a 2 some with us to make 2 foursomes which was just fine. Well it started to rain a little harder and the single and the 2 some decided not to play. We debated again and decided to see what happens. The 3 some tee'd off first and the rain went to a light drizzle. My partner and I tee'd offf and as we did, here come 2 groups coming in, quitting play for the day. The drizzle lasted about 10-15 more mintutes and stopped. It did not rain the rest of the round and the sun even came out. Now the course was not busy at all. No one in front of our 2 groups and no one behind us at all. At the 3rd hole we decided since there was no one behind us, we would just play together as we were just waiting on each other anyways. Couple holes later the Marshall showed up and said no fivesomes. And he was not nice about it. We explained we did it because there was no one behind us so we would not hold up anybody and the course was almost empty. Marshall said he did not care and no exceptions and to split up. Since he was so abusive I just had to argue. If he would have been nice about it from the get go we would have said no problem from the get go. But we did split up and as we waithed for the 3 some to tee off and clear the fairway, I checked behind us and there was no one there for at least 3 holes that I could see. We finished the round like that, no one behind us at all, not even close. And the kicker was, they were punching the 18th green when we got there. The guy did not stop or wait or anything. Just kept running the machine as the 2 groups tried to putt. Now, the course was in great shape, a few of the greens had been punched with small holes. Fairways were great and the rough was brutal. Pro Shop staff was very friendly and so was the starter. Red Hawk is a nice course except for that d%mn Marshall. We played on a $40.00 coupon but I doubt if I will go back. One employee can leave a sour taste in your mouth. Too may other nice courses out that way. Like Cross Creek. My opinion on fivesomes is it is ok as long as the course is not busy and there is no one behind you. But , oh well I am not in charge! The moral of the story is; Marshalls be nice unless your treated otherwise from the start.

Played today, 11-02-05, on a Golf Extra Card at 1/2 price, ($42)oterwise would not have. Way to overpriced for a weekday rate. Tee'd off on time but was behind a group who were playing from the blacks that should not have. Therefore it took us 4hr 45min. I wish golf courses would enforce a rule if your not a scratch golfer or a least a less than 10 handicapper, you cant play from the blacks. Especially a course like Blackgold. This is a target golf corse. If you have problems slicing the ball, dont play here. It is just not a forgiving course. Course was in decent shape and the staff was freindly. As with the green fees, food is overpriced too. But hey, It's Orange County!! Goose Creek here we come!

Played 10-26-05. We had not played here in about 8 months. Course was in great shape. Last time we played here as in the past, ball marks on the greens were terrible. Today they were not. First time I have seen the greens in such good shape. They just put a light coat of sand on the greens so they were slow but still rolled pretty true. We all had a good day, all shot under 90 with the lowest score in our foursome being a 80. I think that says it all. Customer service was good. CW the starter is great! The only screw up was that they sold us tokens for the range and when we got down there it was closed for maintenance. They did return our money. They do need to do something with the carts, they are kept clean but are in bad running condition. The carts are old and need to be replaced. We saw 2 abandoned carts during our round. The cart we had ran out of steam on 18 and barely made it back to the cart barn. Other than that a good day!

Played on 10-20-05. What a lousy experience in customer service. We had two tee times because we had 8 players. 3 guys canceled at the last minute so we had 5 players. One of those guys was going to have to leave early, after 7 or 8 holes. We asked if could go out as 3 and 2 (they dont allow 5 somes, which was fine with us) and when the one guy left we would join up and be a 4 some. The starter gave us a bunch of "crap" over that so our leader went to the pro shop and pleaded our case. They reluctantly allowed us to head out as 3 and 2. Well, most of us live in Anaheim and play the course alot. And if you play here, or ever have, you know this corse is nortorious for slow play, even during the week. Well as usual it was slow, we were waiting on every hole. On the 3rd hole the 3 some tee'ed off and was waiting on the fairway for the green to clear as it had been. So we thought why not speed up play a little so we we waved up the 2 some as there was a 4 some behind them. They hit into the fairway and by that time the green was clear so the 3 some hit up. After the 3 some cleared the green then they would hit up. We kept doing this and it seemed to help. Hole 6 is a 3 par and there is sign which says wave up the next group after you get to the green. Well we did this and here comes the Marshall yelling at us about playing a 5 some. And I mean yelling. We tried to explain what we were doing and he would not hear it. He made the 2 some wait untill the 3 some left the green and was on the way to no. 7 before they could putt out. As one of our guys put it, "it reminded me of a world war 2 gestapo check point" This Marshall was not nice at all, even threatening to kick us off the course. And yes, play slowed up again. After one of our guys left, we still played as two 2 somes, figuring we would get in trouble if we joined up. We finally joined up on hole 17 cause we were almost done. And the ironic thing was, the foursome behind the last 2 some caught up to us and told us they told the Marshall we were playing faster before and he should have left us alone. they said he was not nice to them either. Oh yeah what was our time, 4 hours and 44 mintutes, that says it all. We waited on every hole. The hills is a nice course, the new club house is great but I dont care if I ever play there again. Goose Creek or Los Serranos are father away but better to play at.

Played on 4-4-05 and the course was in great shape. Had a little rain at first but it went away and just had a great day. They had a tournament going out later on so they let us out before and we had the course to ourselves. We played on the golf extra discount which was still $57.50. Rates went up $10 since last year. During the week it was 95.00. They have added a 10.00 cart fee so now it is 105.00. Way to much to play on a course like this. We would play here alot more if it were not for the fees. The only time we play here is with the golf extra discount. We really like the course and the staff is great but it is the typical overpriced Orange county Course. So sad .......

Played on 3-28-05. Someone forgot to tells us greens had been aerated when we made the tee time or when we went out. Give it a couple of weeks before you play at this course to give the greens time to heal. Other than that course is in good shape. Great staff! Did the Donovan email special, $39 plus a free hot dog and chips. Not a bad deal!

Played on 2-14-05, and when I arrived I noticed the greenskeepers working on No. 9 Green and wondered what was up. Well guess what, they were punching the greens that day. When I called and made the tee time on 2-7-05, not one word was said about punching the greens on the 14th or I would have never made the tee time. This is the second time this has happened to our foursome at this course. I let the guy in the pro shop know how I felt and he was apologetic and said I should have been told when I called. They were charging twilight rates. We tried to get on another course but it was to short of a notice for that for a foursome. We ended up playing and just made it a practice round. And of course, half of the greens were punched with temporary greens set up. I guess you have to ask every time you make a tee time if they are punching or overseeding.....UGH!!

Played today and what a experience. We have played here many times before and have always liked the course. Fun place to play. When we called for a tee time we were told it was cart path only due to overseeding. Which was good cause alot of courses won't tell you. But we felt that was ok, cart path only at this course would not be that bad. Well, we tee'ed off at 11:35 (tee time was 11:32) and it went down hill from there. Every hole and shot we waited. Several times if it was not backed up two groups on a tee box, it was 3 groups. 5 Hours and 50 mins. later we walked off the 18th green. We saw the Marshall twice and he told us it was just busy because of the cart path only rule. This is for a Monday! With a tee time at 11:30AM! Moral of the story, Dont Play at Trilogy When It is Cart Path Only! Tee times were every 8 Mins. Maybe they should go every 10 mins or 12 mins when it is cart path only. Other than that it was and still is a fun course to play. Fairways are bouncing back well from overseeding and should be ready in a week or two. Greens were also in decent shape from punching 2 weeks ago.

Had not played here for awhile. Played 10-18-14 and as we drove up on the course both my partner and I commented how green it was. Overseeding and punching the greens came out great.
It had rained heavy the night before so the course was soggy but other than that the fairways looked great. And the greens were best I've seen in awhile. Guys must be fixing their ball marks, which has always been a problem at this course. Started off on the back nine first cause they had a gardner fixing ball marks on the front nine. They do that here 3 times a week, mon, tue, and thur. Which is a good idea. So, remember 3 weekdays you play the back nine first. Staff was great as always. Overall had a great day of golf.

Played on Oct 4th. Had not played here in awhile. Last couple of times we played here the guy in the pro shop was not very friendly. Came across like we were brothering him. Today noticed two new guys I have noticed here before. They were friendly, cracking jokes and helpful. More customer friendly sevice than I have seen here in a long time. Course was in decent shape including the greens. However it was very slow. We tee'ed off only 10 mins. late (which was good) but we waited on every shot. We had a 4 some and it took 4 hours and 55 min untill we walked of the 18th green. Kinda bad for a monday. Other than that we had a great game.

Played today, 8-23-04. The Goose is one of my favorite courses. Great value, great staff, great layout and the course is in good condition. Except for some of the greens. And it is because of the age old problem of guys not fixing their ball marks. What is it? Are todays golfers becoming so lazy and dont give a d%mn . It is really sad. There were 3 in our group and on some of the greens we fixed 2 and 3 ball marks a piece. Other than that, we had a great day and even finished in 3 hours and 51 mintutes!
