Rarely do I venture the OC to play golf, high green fees, poor pace of play ect. Decided to try San Juan due to all the good hype on this web site. While the course layout i found to be very good, fair and fun, how all you guy rate this place a 8+ I figure your either on their payroll, or on "something" else!! Not a level tee box to be found, and all had severe divot damage. Fairways were thin, rough was weeds, bunkers were mud, greens were bumpy and dead in spots. I guess for the price I should of expected a "muni" as thats what I got. So its still a good value besides the above mentioned. At least it wasn't hot. I think i'll stay out hereand sweat!

Played a golfextra tournament today.
The golf course is in ok shape. Not as good as I expected after reading all the good reviews but a decent golf course none the less. The golf course plays tough despite being only 6300 yards form the tips. A lot of different elevation changes and doglegs make this short course a challenge for anyone who plays it. I definitely recommend this course for anyone but the beginning golfer.

Played 7/18. on my birthday for free. Nice course, first time playing here. I thought it was in good shape, not great, but no real issues. Little far from home, but couldn't beat the price.

Took advantage of the birthday special. $15 total for my son and I. Take advantage of this opportunity while you can. I can't imagine a better course for the price in O.C. The course will play longer than the stated yardage due to uphill fairways with elevated approaches. Will return.

Course is showing some summer wear. Not as lush as it was in the spring. Tee boxes were pretty chopped up. Green on 11 is trying to make a comeback; front left half is dead. Good pace of play; yet clubhouse kept sending us keep pace messages yet we were right on the a**** of the group in front of us. Guess they were bored and wanted to play with the computer. Traps had a lot of rocks in them. Still a good value ($23.50 with Play More Golf Book coupon).

hmmm, an interesting course that was great in parts but suffered in others. First off, some great scenic holes throughout the course as it's nestled in the hills which makes for some nice views. Tee boxes were beat up pretty good on some holes and not level either. Fairways were decent but I've played nicer fairways but they weren't hard... you would get a good roll though. Greens were friendly and not overly undulating but quite large but they did bite. The worst part of the course was the rough as a good portion of the rough I saw was crab grass and that grass is a b$tch to get out of cleanly. Overall, I'd give it an 8 due to the various elements noted above. Finishing in 4 hours was nice but we did tee off at 6:30. Hardly had to wait on any holes. I would play again.

Customer service at this course is fabulous. We walked on today (twosome); they slipped us in between two tournaments. Took a lot of wrangling for them to do, but they did it. And they even honored a steep discount mistakenly posted by Golf Extra. That said, problem with this course is that conditions have been so fabulous here over the last few months you get spoiled. So, when they're not so hot you get hyper critical:-). Green on 11 hasn't recoverd from aeration very well. Some bare spots. Greens were slow. Seems like they haven't been cut in a while. Fairways were cut very short; they looked a little brown, but still in great shape. Rough has been more lush in the past. I'd say less than an inch today. All that said, it is still in great shape and definitely worth the green fee! Staff is A#1. Stay away! We want it all to ourselves!

Played 5/28. Packed. Guess nobody was going away for Memorial Day. Very slow play, sped up on the back. Pro shop was on it; sending marshals out when they spotted slow play through gps system. Greens are usually immaculate, but I gave them a lower rating this time around cuz they're still recovering from aeration. Needed to be cut. Bumpy and slow. One more mowing and they'll be great. Fairways were like carpet. Perfect. Traps are inconsistent, but not horrible. It'll be interesting to see how SJHills fares when Arroyo Trabuco opens up the road on July 1st.
