I can name 10 muni course under $60 dollars that were in better condition and lay out then this place. Fairways were peppered with un-repaired divots. Plus, a lot of dry areas. I also don't like courses with a lot of par 3 1/2's (320 - 330 yards par 4) which they had at least 4. Add to the "experience", the pace was also extremely slow, the 4some in front of us was a hole behind. We got done in over 5 hours. I played here about 8 years ago when they first opened, and thought it was overpriced. Apparently nothing has changed.

Pace was very slow - we played as a 3some and the group ahead of us was probably about 1/2 a hole behind; but was probably even more frustrating when the gps says to let the 4some behind us to play through when they're a hole behind!
Fairways were horrible! Dried out, dead patches - somebody forgot to turn the sprinklers on for the last 3 weeks.
Greens were bumpy and inconsistent.
Roughs were probably the best place to be, rather than the fairway.
Played at half price, and it is my opinion that it was not worth that.

Played today. Fairways a bit browner than usual. Greens only in aso-so condition due to recent aerating. (When I made the tee time and asked about the condition of the greens, the pro shop had stated that aerating was no longer affecting greens play - which was incorrect.) Fast round in just over three hours. All-in-all, a good course but overpriced for what you get.

The greens have not quite healed, but in another week, ten days they wil be fine. But my rating reflects their current condition. I thought the fairways were rather thin and "spotty", not what you would expect from a "high end" course. Overall the course is in decent condition however. Maybe now that we're getting some heat, the grass will begin to grow and it will return to the condition I remember the course being in.

Played 4/15, fairways were dormant and in terrible shape. Greens still trying to come back from being aerated. Starter very nice, have had problems with the pro shop staff.

Played in less than 4 hours. Great layout.

This is the first time visit because of the 2 for 1 coupon I received @ LA Golf Show. Staffs were excellent. Overall course condition was great other than the greens which were punched two days ago.

We finished 1st round in 3 1/2 hours and replayed 2nd time.

Played at 7:45 on 3/12. Got out in front of a couple of 4somes. Glad we did too. They were on 13 when we finished 18. Played in exactly 4 hours. Fairways were dormant but the rough was up about 3-4 in... Continue »

Played at 7:45 on 3/12. Got out in front of a couple of 4somes. Glad we did too. They were on 13 when we finished 18. Played in exactly 4 hours. Fairways were dormant but the rough was up about 3-4 inches. Not enough sand in the bunkers. Greens and tees were in good shape. No cart girl. Staff is is not the friendliest. Cart boys were pleasant though. Starter and pro shop not so much. Only way I play here is with a severe discount. Used the 2 for 1 $55. I play here about once every three years. Seems about right.

I played on 3/10/09 and paid $55 with cart. For $55 it was worth playing at strawberry farms. For the full price it is a rip-off. The location is nice but the course is not kept up very well for a $110 course. If you can get on for half the price then I would say do it but never pay full price for this course. Its not worth the money.

Here's the scoop with Strawberry Farms. It is a great layout, but even staff conceded that in an effort to cut costs, overseeding was cut in the last go-round. As a result fairways were uncharacteristically bare or thin in many areas. Additionally, beacuse I'm sure they had 2for1's from the golf show, it got a lot of play and as a result me and my buddies were constantly repairing more than one or two green divots. The greens though were in decent shape however. Rolled smooth a bit quick and on some holes were a bit bumpy. Greens are real greens with two cuts of rough around. Pace of play on a Sunday was fantastic (4 1/4 hours). Staff appeared to be cut back, but was nonetheless friendly and accommodating. Finished my round with a sense that I have played a really great course that was hit by the economic times we now live in. Although I would not recommend paying the rack rate for this course ($160 weekend prime), I would recommend playing a reduced rate and did enjoy my round and would come back.
