Played this morning hoping it would be warmer? Nope. Cold to start warm when we finished. But at least we did not pay holiday rates. Course is rounding into shape and looking pretty good. Tee boxes were all playable. Fairways have good coverage, have been mowed and give good lies and roll out. Traps were not in good shape after the weekend play. So hopefully maintenance gets to them. But people still appear not to know how to use a rake. Rough was thick and sticky outside of fairways. + there are a lot of OB areas to contend with around the course. Greens were clean and firm early AM. Lots of unrepaired ball marks from weekend as well. But other than that they putted really well. Great customer service from Gina in the shop and the starter downstairs. Great little coffee shop/snack bar next to the starter open at 6AM and good selection and prices for drinks and food. I sincerely hope they can keep the wolf from the door and continue to operate. They certainly are getting a lot of play.

Rough was wet and penal. Greens all in good shape for putting but did hold shots and gave some roll out. Customer service excellent at all levels with employees. I expect better conditions as warmer weather arrives.

Played this AM. Little cool to start but warmed up nicely. First off so POP was at 3 H. Course is in nice shape at the moment. Tee boxes were all playable. Fairways have good coverage but damp in early AM so little roll but once they dry out plenty of roll out. Traps are hit/miss. They are damp/wet early but playable as they dry out. Greens were all nicely mowed and chipped/putted just fine all round. The new staff (Gina in the shop) and Charles the starter are great at customer service. Recommended but if you want dry conditions later in the day is better IMO.

Played this AM. Course is in fair to good condition at the moment. Fairways needed mowing IMO so while lies were decent roll out was not. Traps were wet from overnight dew and watering so tough to play out of so early. Rough was high outside of the fairways and around the greens and sticky. Tee boxes were all clean and no issues. Greens were slow during the whole round and appeared to need mowing and rolling. They are in good shape just no speed. Easy check in with Gina in the shop and with starter. Seems to be a whole new group working here now and customer service is much better than previously. Still $54 per player which is a good price in todays economy. POP 3 H. Even had a marshal keeping things moving.

Got off first this AM to beat the heat. And it was hot on the back 9 and while we were finishing. Appears there are all new people working the course? Saw no one that I recognized. As expected the fairways were very damp and limited roll out. But did provide good lies and had full coverage on all of them. Tee boxes all playable. Traps were damp as well and luckily neither one of us went in one. They did not look appealing at all. Rough was damp and sticky and there are enough areas outside of the fairways that will add to the OB issues. The water on 16 is dried up and 18 is headed that way. Greens played very well, though damp at the start. Chipped/putted just fine, but many have remnants of prior divot damage. Customer service was excellent in the shop, starter and cart personnel. I feel the course is playable but one will occur damp conditions in the AM with the approaching heat wave. But if you don't mind playing later in the day, I would say the course would be playing very nicely. And especially for a late twilight round.

Played Westridge with a buddy this past Sunday and had a good time despite a poor back nine and some sub-optimal conditions in many areas. We played from the 'tips' (around 6300 yards) and were required to start on the back nine, which I think makes for a lesser experience.

POP was pretty bad when we started off already three groups behind our 8:52 tee time, but things moved pretty decently on the course after that. There was no cart service anytime throughout the day but it's there's a convenient snack shop near the cart barn staging area to reload and refuel at the turn.

Unfortunately conditions are not that great at Westridge right now with far too many thin and burned out areas in the fairways, a lot of dry patches near the greens and too many of the water features looking faded and downright neglected (and yes I do understand there's a water shortage right now but it still needs to be said).

Bunkers were an odd mix of good and really bad - just completely random around the course. I was on the short par 3 (normally #3) and one greenside bunker had great, white fluffy sand it, while the accompanying bunker was hardpan and uninviting. Quite odd. Tee boxes were also hit or miss with many being just fine while others were pretty disastrous. The greens were actually mostly in good shape, running medium-fast and holding shots well, but there were a few with some serious damage on the aprons.

Westridge is a very tight and hilly course with a premium on shot placement and proper club selection. I had forgotten just how narrow this course can be but it's really fun when you do make good shots - unfortunately I didn't do near enough of that on the back nine. There are some really fun and cool looking holes on this course, but it's tarnished a bit by less than ideal conditions currently.

Hopefully they get things in better shape soon and then I would love to come out and give the course another shot.

Played early AM today under cloudy but comfortable skies. Found the check in to be fast and quick. Conditions of the course at present are mixed. Fairways have good coverage but need a good mowing because all the watering has them too long, so very little roll out. Tee boxes were all fine. Rough was wet, sticky and thick. Traps need attention as they seem compacted at the present time, even with the new sand in many of them. Greens are good and chip/putt just fine and have decent speed to them. Good playing conditions for $54. And I need to find time to eat at the BBQ and see how it is. Next time for sure. BTW the Costco up the street has good price of 5.85 for regular. Another good reason to play here LOL.

Played this AM. Fast easy check in both in shop and carts. Done in 3 hours. We were told they would punch 5/2-3 but did yesterday and today (maybe the reason it was so quite). But we were really suprised at how great a job they did. Small holes and no sand left on the greens. And best of all the greens were actually playable. Best aeration job I have ever seen. Tee boxes were fine. Fairways had really nice coverage and good lies. But they were damp at the start so a tad slow but picked up as morning warmed up. Rough was 1/2 inch, wet and sticky. Traps were a mixed bag due to dampness and overnight watering so not optimal. All in all an enjoyable morning round of golf.

As you don't have much news on the course, thought I'd chime in. Played it twice recently - one weekday (excellent), once weekend (ridiculously slow). Course in good shape in this time of maintenance. Greens running true, about 9-10. Fairways: balls sits up really nicely: Bunkers: inconsistent and different levels of sand. Still a great challenge and a great value in this times. Just no marshals on my Weekend round which was excruciating. It was as if everyone was putting out for 25c! But thumbs up for this La Habra diamond in the rough.
