I played 11/1/2013 just as the course was opening up after reseeding. It looked great, although the greens were slow, but very true. I got around in 3 hours and 45 minutes just before daylight savings time ended. The twilight greens fee was under $40, which is terrific for the area.

This is an excellent value course for Palm Springs. The physical location is very much like Rustic Canyon in Ventura County, with a wash running down the middle of a flat area. It's like Rustic Canyon's pretty but not too challenging sister.

You are allowed to go down into the dry creekbed and retrieve your ball or try to hit out, so I lost only one ball all day (in the one pond on the course on 17). The fairways are quite wide in the modern mode so you can bomb away from the tee. There is only a little bit of housing on this course out by the Palm Springs airport, so it's a true desert experience with glorious views of the mountains.

This is a Schmidt-Curley course from about 1999, so it looks modern. It's a little easier than most courses from that era because the greens are flat, so you might score a little better than you'd expect from looking at what appears to be a tough course. The bunkering is impressive, however, with some traps approaching 15 feet deep. The fairways have been bulldozed into some rolls so it's not completely flat. This is a fun course to warm-up on before hitting the expensive tough courses of the region. It would be an ideal first course for somebody flying in to the Palm Springs airport.

Played today (04/01) and it was a great day. After a wind blown afternoon yesterday, the winds were calm for our 0730 tee time and picked up to only a 1 club wind by the back 9. My friend and I played as a two some and breezed through the course in 3.5 hours. I can't find a single thing wrong with the condition of this course. I played from the back (Cimarron Tees) which makes this course at least somewhat challenging (6,850 yards par 71). Other than that the wind is really this course's only defense.

Tee boxes are in great shape and lush.
Fairways are in great shape and lush with great lies.
The course is well manicured and the 2-4" rough frames the fairways nicely. The aprons around the greens are also well maintained and in great condition.
The greens are running medium to medium-fast but smooth as can be and nary an unfixed ball mark.

There isn't a single thin area on this course - it's all well manicured and green. Even the 17th hole's green is in good shape with only a minimal amount of coot droppings.

The only reason I didn't rate the course higher is I am stingy and rarely give out a "10" for any category unless the quality simply blows me away.

Played Monday (3/3/14) at Cimarron Boulder and it was quite a treat. The weather post-rains was phenomenal. I'm no scratch golfer so I found the layout very good for my game - not gimmicky or quirky. Pretty straightforward, no real elevations of note, spectacular mountain views (I know - standard for Palm Springs, but this felt like even more).

The fairways are in tremendous shape - never a single bad lie. The rough is very fair and a lot of the stuff you push into the desert is even playable. I did try to collect a ball from the wash though and sunk into the mud almost to ankle level ... needless to say that ball belongs to someone else now, or a coyote.

Greens were in really good condition. No ball marks anywhere, great, consistent speeds. Not a single complaint there. Perhaps my only slight complaint would be the sand traps as they were certainly not the fluffy white sand one comes to expect at the nice courses in PS.

But mind you, this is no Desert Willow or Bighorn - it's very moderately priced (think we paid $79 online for a 10:30ish tee time) and well worth it in my book. There's not a lot of water on the course (only the 17th if I'm not mistaken), and no major trees to work around, but it's just a great spot if you don't want to spend the $150 or more for one of the marquee spots in the desert.

POP was about 4.5 hours so that was just fine.

Played as a guest in one of my co workers mens club and had a great time. Tee time of 9:04 and got off right on time. Great staff! Very helpful from the cart guys to the waiters after the round. The round included lunch and everyone agreed that the food was very good.
Very nice all grass range to warm up on and perfect putting green.
The course is in excellent condition. Tee boxes lush and level. Fairways pristine never a bad lie all day.
The greens are amazing, fast-almost ball mark free and challenging.
The only thing they need to fix would be the bunkers. Our group was in a few and everyone said they were very thin on sand and had a lot of small rocks to deal with.
POP was 4 hrs 20 minutes, quite good for a Sat. morning in prime time.

First time playing this course and I absolutely loved it. I've played most everything in the desert and while I have heard of this course, it was never one that ppl spoke of as being a must play. While it certainly isn't among the top tier in the desert, it is a great course that I highly recommend. Golfnow $59 tee time @ 12:08pm. POP was about 4 hrs and 15 minutes. The course was in fantastic shape from tee to green. Everything was incredibly lush save for a couple tee boxes that had some divot damage and one green that had more than a few unrepaired divots. The greens were especially good rolling true all day and were fairly quick. The one sand trap I was in was thin however but that was really the only downside.

My wife and I played yesterday (12/25) on a beautiful Palm Springs day. Teed off about 10 am and the course was not crowded so POP was not an issue and we finished in just under 3 hours. Course is in good condition - fairways are nice, rough is cut low so it looks almost like fairway. Greens were fairly slow and I think they probably didn't mow on the holiday. Other than that the only complaint was the Coot's on hole 12 and 17 made a real mess on the greens.

Played yesterday 11/23 for the family's "Tin Cup" award. Happy to say I was able to hold on to it for another year as it has become a fixture under my TV. The empty spot there just didn't look right.

Anyways on to the review - first time ever playing this course and the GK reviews definitely came in handy.

Tees: 6/10 - generally were in pretty decent shape but the ground was hardly level on any of them. Was hitting my tee shots from 3-5 yards behind the rocks on most of them just to find level ground. Looked like there was some good grass in between the rocks, just tough to tee off when it's not level.

Fairways: 8/10 - fairways were in good shape. A lot of the areas were a little shaggy and slowed down the roll but all in all they were definitely playable. For the most part they were filled in nicely, can't recall too many areas under repair either. Can't complain when you're hitting from the short stuff anytime.

Rough: 8/10 - First off - the starter told us all ALL the native areas are a free drop. Didn't see that rule on the card or anywhere else...might just have been a rule to help keep things moving. The grass rough was thick but definitely playable. Not sure if they got any rain that kept them from mowing but it was long and definitely impacted your shot if you had to play out of it. Native areas were all raked/smoothed out nicely - very appealing to the eye.

Bunkers: 8/10 - fortunately I was able to avoid these, so this rating is based on what my partners told me. In more than one, heard that it was soft even though it looked hard. Sand was white and stood out on the dark green grass surrounding it, so it looked pretty too. Wish I could say more, but got lucky just enough to avoid the sand.

Greens: 6/10 - Same issues as the fairways with the shagginess. Looked like they hadn't been mowed in a few days, but there have been storm warnings here in SoCal so you know how it goes - 1" of rain and the world is ending. Because of the shagginess the greens were SLOW. As it warmed up a little they picked up a little speed but overall i'd say they were running about a 7/8 on the stimp.

Pace of Play: 9/10 - this part of the course management was great. They got us out early behind the pro shop worker (guess it was slow enough for him to head out to the course at 10:15 am), but they took off and I don't think we saw them again until hole 14 or 15. Twosome behind us was at least a hole behind for almost the entire day, until hole 16 when out of nowhere they sped up and acted like they were going to try and pass us.

Overall I'd give the course the 8/10 that it rates here on GK. Because of the storms, I'm not going to hold the slow greens or shaggy fairways against them (despite the fact that green speeds are usually my number 1 factor when rating a course), the rest of the experience was just so great that it would absolutely be worth it to go back out again.

Played yesterday in under 3.5 hours!!! A very nice and quick enjoyable round. The starter let us out a little bit early. Was just the 2 of us and didn't have to wait until the last few holes, but only for a few minutes. Weather was PERFECT, nice and sunny!! The driving range was completely grassy except around the flags, which actually looked quite nice. Range was in great shape. Practice green was nice and very true to the greens on the course. Course is in great condition. I don't know what's going on with the bunkers, but they're still full of rocks and were quite hard packed as well. Tee boxes were nicely mowed and trim, but some were not level. Fairways were nice and greens were firm. No divots at all. Cart girl came around a few times. Overall, very nice course. Staff is very friendly and always great service. I wish they would fix the bunkers to actually have sand in them. I tried to avoid them, but couldn't :(

The fairways are in pristine shape and the rough is in great condition and consistent at 2-3 inches. I was not in any traps but they looked to be in good shape. See the below review for more details on the sand.

The greens were very good and rolling medium-fast. There was some minor ball mark damage but they still rolled true. The 17th green protected by water had minimal coot/duck poop on it which is nice. I've seen it almost covered.

We played in A LOT of wind, the kind that blows your hat off, but the course was still enjoyable. The staff is friendly and nice. Only negative was there was no cart girl. One employee told us she called in sick and another said it was because of the wind.

Probably because of the wind but the course was not busy and we played in just under 4 hours.
