Played as a single on Saturday January 12 (1st to tee off that day). Course is in great shape. Greens and sand traps were in better condition than I'm used to at Desert Dunes. Good customer service and interesting layout. This course can get very windy but today it was calm and temps in the mid 60's. Desert Dunes is one of my favorites in the Palm Springs area.

Played our monthly tourney here Sat 10/20. 7 AM shotgun. Course is in great shape, lush and green. The rough was 2-3 inches and tough to get out of. The fairways rolled well, some divots but not bad. ... Continue »

Played our monthly tourney here Sat 10/20. 7 AM shotgun. Course is in great shape, lush and green. The rough was 2-3 inches and tough to get out of. The fairways rolled well, some divots but not bad. The greens were real slow, with some subtle breaks. Front nine was nice with no wind. Back nine was a different course once the wind kicked up. Into the wind was at least 2 extra club to get on. Some putts were affected by the gusts. Temperature was a mild 80's. Staff was OK but not overly friendly.

Play 10/13 Sat. This course is in great shape. Everything was good. Greens could improve, bit slow on certain greens. Roughs are tough, forget about trying to find the balls. Brushes are dry and ... Continue »

Play 10/13 Sat. This course is in great shape. Everything was good. Greens could improve, bit slow on certain greens. Roughs are tough, forget about trying to find the balls. Brushes are dry and sharp. Course is very forgiving. No OBs. Only the biggest problems we had was with the strong wind. If you know how to handle the wind, you will get very low score. Even when you are on the greens, you have difficulties trying to putt against the wind. Overall good course to play. Customer service is just OK. They were not too friendly.

I played Desert Dunes 8/4/07 on a Golf Vacation with some work buddines. The Fairways, Rough and Tee boxes were in GREAT shape considering the day we played it was 117 degrees outside. The greens were pretty good with some brown spots but roled very true overall. Every summer I make a trip from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf weekend and Desert Dunes is the only course I play every summer. The lay out of the course is great, with some fairly easy holes and some fairly difficult holes. The pot bunkers add a bit of spice as does some of the drop offs from the fairways. Overall the course is great and you can't beat the $25 price tag including Cart during the summer!

Desert Dunes is my favorite course layout in the Palm Springs area. I only used my driver on a few of the holes...the nasty mesquite bushes/tamarisk trees/narrow farways force me to use an accurate 3 wood on the majority of the holes.

LOTS of wildlife on this course. We saw 50+ rabbits, roadrunners, quail and 2 bobcats (yes, bobcats). You feel like your are miles away from civilization on this course.

Greens are somewhat slow and some bare/brown spots in fairways and the clubhouse is very basic. This isn't like some of the well maintained/manicured courses in Palm Springs but more of a wild adventure with solid course design (Robert Trent Jones Jr. is the architect).

Highly recommend this course as long as the wind isn't blowing too hard.

Played as a walk on single on July 21st at 6am. Paid $25 with my golf passbook and was on the course without a wait. The clubhouse is not nearly as nice as the other golf clubs in the area but I'm here to play golf...so who cares. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful but if you play golf to get pampered, this isn't the place.

I absolutely loved the course layout. The course architect is Robert Trent Jones Jr and it is one of the better layouts I have played in the Coachella Valley. Not a condo in site...you feel like you are in a very remote location. I lost a few balls in the thick Mesquite and Sage...and there are lots of mature trees. Some of the fairways are very narrow limiting the use of my driver to maybe 5 of the holes and some of the fairways are mounded so accuracy off the tee is a must. Greens are in good shape but slow. I finished in about 3 hours.

As long as wind isn't blowing, I highly recommend Desert Dunes for those who appreciate a good layout ...just bring extra balls.

I would think this course would always play windy since its relatively close to the windmills.
