I rated this course very high and I believe it is well deserved. Customer service was great: I called ahead and was told about and given a two-for-one discount. We had a third person who also got the discount when asked. Very nice facility, friendly people, and the many female personnel were super easy on the eyes. Winter conditions with rye grass from edge to edge. Greens (like most desert courses this time of year) were firm and fast. The layout here is challenging, but very generous landing areas. I heard there could be wind, but we played on a day (afternoon) with only 5 to 10 m.p.h. breezes. No cool GPS on the cart and not a lot of yardage markers on course. Better to get a yardage book here. I didn't, and I think it would have helped, despite having the iGolf neo hand held.

played on 9-10-11. Conditions are completely different then the last time i played here less than a month ago. Fairways are yellowish and dry(seems like your hitting off hard pan) and the greens are slow and bumpy. The course played much shorter due to lot more roll on the fairways.

played today 8-18 early morning. Course is in great shape. Layout is one of my favorites. Its designed by the famous Robert Trent Jones Jr. The Canadian tour has tournament here every year. The course is a tough when the winds pick up, but not so hard when its calm. Got lucky today, no wind at all. Finish the round in less than 2 hours.

played on 7-2 morning before it started to heat up. Desert dunes is one of my favorite golf courses in the palm springs area. The layout is solid, conditions are usually good, and pace of play is excellent. Got lucky saturday, as there was no wind. Played the back nine first due to 2-3 groups on the first tee. Finished the round in 2 1/2 hours(twosome). Saw about 1000 bunny rabbits.

Desert Dunes is in great shape tee to green for this time of year!
The layout is excellent (Robert Trent Jones Jr design) and one of my favorites in the Palm Springs area for the price.

One word of caution...this course can get VERY WINDY, so check the weather report and get out early before the heat if the forecast is for a calm day.

Played Desert Dunes back in late February and it was a great value at roughly $35 w/cart. It's a great layout and the course conditions were on par with courses in the $75-100 range. Smooth, true greens and lush healthy fairways. And as others have mentioned - this is a great place to spot wildlife. I loved that it's isolated, with no buildings around to speak of other than the clubhouse. A true desert golf experience

Just an FYI, but the wind was really kicking the morning we played which made it a real challenge - but a fun one. If you don't like playing in the wind, or are a high spin player with a ballooning ball flight, I would avoid this place. But if you've got some guts and want to work on your "wind" game, it's hard to beat Desert Dunes.

Played 6 Jun - Can't blame the course for the wind, which was very strong. Quite a challenge, and was an experience builder. This course is on the Canadian Tour, and it is exquisite. I rated the course, but some of the rating choices are not specific enough for me to explain. Customer Service - The pro shop does its best to satisfy everyone's needs. Here's the problem: I have not seen the clubhouse open for meals, snacks, etc. Purchase beverages from a vending machine. Definitely not a negative point for the customer service by employees. Jose was very accommodating. Sand in Bunkers - Some had puddles of water, but I'm sure they needed to water profusely because of the recent winds in this area. Oh, and the wildlife - bring a camera. You'll see birds, mammals, and in one lake... unbelievable large catfish. It is transfixing. The course layout will astound players because of the very reasonable fee. Currently, it's $39. That's incredible for this area. If you drive a long distance to get there, be prepared to play in the wind -- but, enjoy yourself. It's good experience in "how to play the wind."
