Played here on Sunday, March 29, 1:00 p.m. for $49/player. I called the pro shop when I had difficulty making the time online for $54. I asked for, and received a small discount; big thanks! Another plus was the cart service that sold my buddy and I a sixer of tallboy Stellas for $20. Filled our on board ice chest. That being said, I believe this is a "You get what you pay for" situation. The only real drawback as far as conditions are concerned is the rough and the sand. The rough is rough; grass coverage is okay, but you could be in 1" of bermuda or 4" of rye/bermuda mix. There were some bare/thin areas, but not many of those. The sand was more of a thin layer of grey, crusty sand over some well-packed desert sand or native soil. I thought the greens putted nicely; probably running a 9 to 10 on the stimp. You can see the bermuda starting to take over on many greens, as the recent hot weather is driving the growth of the warm season grasses. I know there are many courses in the area, but I did not research getting an online discount and I was not willing to pay the full freight for the big name courses. This is a laid back facility and I might come here again.

Played 3-17-15 @ 7am hoping for quick, smooth round. Course conditions good with fast greens and heavy rough. Covered front nine in 1.5 hours before disaster struck. Pro shop allowed a man and woman to cut in front of us on the tenth tee with handicaps probably >30. After waiting on every shot for 3 holes with hands on hips they finally let us play through. Two holes later we ran into a teaching pro giving a lesson to three people which held us up again. What could have been a great day turned into an irritating and frustrating one. Course management should give priority to those of us who tee off at daybreak for a smooth early round of golf.

Played on a Golfnow prepaid tee time for $10. Teed off slightly after 10A in 108 degree weather. Played the gold tees (6614/73.0/133) in 3 1/2 hours. The wind was rarely below 15 mph @ any point in the round, with guts in the 25 to 35 mph range. The greens were greenish with large brown patches. However, they putted better than they looked, medium speed and consistent from green to green... However, they were HARD, not firm. The 2 best iron shots I hit AD landed beside a front pin and on my next shot I was playing out of a sand trap in back of the green. The tees were average. The sand traps were hard and not very well maintained. The fairways & rough were generally decent, a little thin in places, certainty not lush. Customer service was a +. However, I have played here twice and both times it was a 2-3 club wind for all 18 holes. There is practically no protection from the wind, the course is flat down in the valley right beside where all the wind mills are. Overall, the conditions were not nearly as good as the last time I played here.

Played 9/3 in am - $12 (with cart) booked through golfnow. Can't complain about anything for 18 holes at that price. Nobody there today. 2hr round. Arrived and sent right out, no waiting. Course is in ok / good summer shape. Boxes are level but some are burnt out. Same with fairways. Greens are good, showing some signs of punching, but acceptable. Traps are hard packed. Very quiet - no homes or freeways .. just nature! Saw another single in front of me, but he moved right along. I just kicked around, hit two balls, tried different tee boxes. Not windy at all as previous reviews warned, although I was done by 11:30 am. Temp was about 100 degrees. Clubhouse and facilities seem to be running on skeleton staff. Looks like this may have been a really nice place back when it opened. No cart girl or starter. Couple of coolers on course so come prepared with your own water. I liked this course and would play it more if it was closer .... if you are in the area and can score a low rate, go for it. Great value if under $40. Anything over that you could probably find something better in the area.

Played course on 7/28. First let me say the price was incredibly low. $13. Secondly, it was empty. The course was in overall great condition especially for the price. Tees were a little long, fairways a little shaggy. greens were fantastic. The course is a very good layout with a ton of variety. I truly liked it.

now the downside. Very limited services. Very few water jugs on course no cart services. Snack bar poorly manned. It is do it yourself golf at best. if going be prepared bring water as there isn't much on the course.

Be prepared for wind. It came on all of a sudden and the game became comical. Everything was effect by the wind, Putts included. Played with a guy who slices and on one hole literally aim 10+ yards to the left to get ball in the fairway. We stopped keeping score after 7 holes.

If I knew there would be no wind I would play again.

Checked out NOAA forecast...it called for 30mph winds with higher gusts.....with that it was off to the course. Great value for what you get. No one there on a Sat afternoon...played in just under 3 h... Continue »

No one there on a Sat afternoon...played in just under 3 hrs. The greens were a bit slow but the winds really made putting difficult. I enjoy the challenge of the winds and the demands on ball striking. If you don't punch shots and hit draws into the winds....you're done. I enjoy hitting hybrid 2 irons 150 yes into winds and punched 4 irons. On number 14 I think it was I hit a 341 yd drive.....yeah sure it was with the help of a 35 mph gust....but hey....I can say I did it once. If you're looking for a quick round on any given day, can take the 100* blast furnace and the ubiquitous 20-30 mph winds...come on out. If not no worries, there will be mo fo me!

1st time playing here. Played with RGM2525 on a Golfnow prepaid tee time for $19. We teed off slightly after 6A & played the gold tees (6614/73.0/133) in 3 1/2 hours. The wind was rarely below 25 mph @ any point in the round, with guts in the 40 to 50 mph range. It was almost unplayable @ times, we had balls getting blown around on the green and even a 2 ft. putt was an adventure. The greens were kinda discolored, light green with a hint of yellowish @ times. However, they putted nice, the best part of the course, occasionally bumpy, but usually smooth & medium fast. The tees were average. The sand traps were well maintained and had nice sand. The fairways & rough were generally decent, a little thin in places, certainty not lush. Customer service was a +. I really liked the layout and will be back. However, based on what I'm told, it's usually really windy here, today more so than most.

Played on Friday morning June 14. I really didn't know what to expect from this course, and now I am glad we played this course. Like most reveiws says, this course would be a bear in the afternoon with the wind. We teed off at 7:00 with hardly a breeze. The course was different from most other courses in the area as there are no houses or condos on the course, it's just in the middle of nowhere. This course was not too difficult but could sneak up and bite you if you are not placing the ball on the right part of the fairways.
Tee Boxes - Good, not much damage
Fairways - in good shape, but could use a little more water, there are brown spots, but still very playable.
Rough - not very long and not real penalizing.
Bunkers - average, but wet most of the morning.
Greens - small holes still evident from punching two weeks ago, but did not affect putts. Putts ran true and the greens were medium fast.
pace - 3.5 hours
Customer Service - Only saw three people working at the course, two in the clubhouse and one bartender. The bartender makes a killer tuna sandwich. The bar computer was down, so we had to pay for our food and drinks pro shop. One of the two guys working was sleeping on a couch and we woke him up. No cart girl on the course.
Overall I enjoyed the course, but it is bare bones golf, don't expect too much more than a decent golf course. Buy a yardage book, it will help with some tee shots.

the wind doesn't always blow here. played Sunday morning @6:00 after playing the Mountain & PGA Stadium the day before, and these were the quickest and truest of the 3. Traps were raked and superior. Fairways were great at all three courses. Though DD can't match the scenic Mountain or the Awe Factor of the Stadium, value-wise if I'm payin', I'm playin' here. That said, If you want somebody to wipe down your clubs or to see a cart girl, don't come here. We had no wind starting at 6:00 and finishing at 9:30. One guy in the clubhouse was friendly and helpful. Course is challenging with great variation, though without wind the par 3's were all similar distance. If you don't like the wind, go EARLY. If you get some wind, it's a great practice place for that trip to Bandon you've been thinking about.
