Rode the Golds (6158/69.5/125) in 4H, 20M mid day using Forelinx. Played with Terry, Peter and John under partly cloudy, breezy conditions around 65. The tees were fairly lush/level. However, too many needed divot repair to be considered good. The fairways were fairly lush and well maintained. The Bermuda rough was thin and matted down. Not good to play from and terrible to chip from around greens. The sand traps were decently maintained with a good amount of good quality sand. The greens were firm and putted medium fast speed. The breaks here are not as severe as on most Dye layouts, but expect few if any straight putts. This course would be difficult to walk as numerous tees are a long way from the last green. There is OB down both sides of many holes and numerous holes have water that comes prominently into play. However, most of the landing areas are generous in size, there are just specific shots where there is little margin for error. The traditional Dye runoffs around greens, mounds, water features etc. are present. Overall, more fun to play than most Dye layouts. Now has GPS on the carts. The customer service was excellent all around. Plenty of water stations on the course and the Drink cart was out making the rounds. Good facilities, complementary range balls although the range tops out @ 220 yards. Fun layout, but not as good as it's sister Player layout IMO. Recommended.

Rode the Golds (6158/69.5/125) in 4H, 15M mid day using Forelinx. Matched up with Steve and Chris, we played at a relaxed pace under partly cloudy, calm conditions in the 60's. The tees were lush/level and well maintained for divots. The fairways were lush and well maintained. The Bermuda rough is the only part of the course not over seeded and is VERY mediocre at this point. Thin with areas of hardpan all the way to a few places that are dormant and fluffy is not a good place to go with lush fairways closeby. The sand traps were nicely maintained with a decent amount of good quality sand. The greens putted nice, firm and medium fast. They held irons well, softer than usual after the recent rains. This course would be difficult to walk as numerous tees are a long way from the last green. GPS to the front/middle/back of the green only. The customer service was excellent as usual here. Plenty of water stations on the course. Drink cart out making the rounds. Good practice facilities with complementary range balls although the range tops out about 220 yards. Fun layout, Recommended.

Rode the Golds (6158/69.5/125) in 3H, 15M twilight, CPO, breezy, partly cloudy and around 70. The tees were level and lush but could use more divot repair. The fairways were lush and well maintained with few unfixed divots. The Bermuda rough is the only part of the course not over seeded. Mostly dormant and not overly penal, usually decent to play from, just tall enough to keep your attention. The sand traps were nicely maintained with a decent amount of good quality sand. Coming out of over seeding, the greens are being maintained long and putted medium slow. They held irons well, softer than usual after the recent rain. The customer service was excellent as usual here. Plenty of water stations on the course. No Drink cart today. Good practice facilities with complementary range balls although the range tops out about 220 yards. This course would be difficult to walk as numerous tees are a long way from the last green. GPS to the front/middle/back of the green only. Fun layout, but the playing conditions after over seeding are not as good as I would expect for a Troon run facility.

Just coming out of over seeding, the conditions were disappointing. They did not over seed the rough and the rest of the course is not nearly as lush as other over seeded courses in the Palm Springs area I have recently played. Most of the landing areas are generous in size, but there is OB down both sides of most holes and numerous holes have water that comes prominently into play. Not a grip it and rip it course. The tees were lush but had their share of divots. Mostly level. The fairways were lush and well maintained. Few unfixed divots. The Bermuda rough is mostly dormant and not overly penal. Usually okay to play from. The sand traps were decently maintained with a good amount of good quality sand. The greens were fuzzy and putted medium slow. They held irons well. Good facilities, complementary range balls although the range tops out @ 220 yards. This course would be difficult to walk as numerous tees are a long way from the last green. GPS to the front/middle/back of the green only. The customer service was excellent all around, especially Anthony in the cart barn. Plenty of water stations on the course. No Drink cart today. Fun layout, but could not recommend at their rack rate.

Rode the Blacks (6706/72.1/130) in around 3H twilight using Forelinx. Started as a single, then with Matt for a few holes and finished up with Tom & Elliott for the last few holes. Sunny, fairly calm conditions around 85. First time I have mowed back to the Blacks here, and several holes are MUCH tougher from the Blacks than the Golds. Traditional Dye runoffs around greens with mounds, water features etc. present. This is a more fun course to play then most Dye layouts I have experienced. Lots of OB & water, but most landing areas are generous in size. Approach shots on holes 7, 8, 14 & 18 have water barely off the greens. The Bermuda tees were very chewed up and severely needed divot repair. Scruffy, however, the rest of the course was well above average in playing condition. The Bermuda fairways were fairly lush and well maintained with few unfixed divots. The Bermuda rough was semi lush and not overly penal. Good POP rough, mostly mowed low, usually good to play from. The sand traps were nicely maintained with good quality sand. The Bermuda greens were firm and putted medium speed. This course would be difficult to walk as numerous tees are a long way from the last green. No GPS on the carts. They could definitely use some combo tees here, as having no tee option between 6700 & 6100 yards seems too large a gap for me. Good facilities, complementary range balls although the range tops out @ 220 yards. Plenty of water stations on the course and the Drink cart was out making the rounds. The customer service was excellent all around. Fun layout, Recommended.

Played this course for the first time on Tuesday morning (7/10). I really enjoyed the layout and found it to be far less sinister than most Pete Dye courses. As a resort course, the landing areas were generous - but there was trouble to be found. Great use of mounding to frame many of the green complexes. The greens were extraordinarily slow - which is probably attributable to the time of year and the thunderstorm that rolled through the desert around 10pm the night before. There are residences lining some of the fairways, but they seem to be set further off of the fairways and less in play than other desert courses. Totally enjoyed the round and look forward to coming back out to play when the greens hold speeds more in line with what one would expect.

Played here 5/14/18 with 2 friends and a 6:38am tee time. Check in was quick and easy. Starter was nice and polite. Tee Boxes were beautiful and flat. Fairways were 90% green with about 10% starting to dry out from the summer heat. Most likely this will increase as expected because of the time of year and it being in the desert. Greens were perfect but extremely tough to read. I was in 8 sand traps and they need a little TLC in them. Great sand is usually white beach sand. This was most desert sand and had a little rocky feeling too it. (There were no rocks or growth in the traps and all were raked clean and nice.) I just didn't prefer the texture of it. Pace of Play (POP) WAS 4.5 hours for us. Great pace! Never waiting and never had anyone wait. Water on the course was clean and blue. Paid $78 rack course special rate. Saw cart girl 3 times but the first time came on the 7th hole. Fantastic day and I love this course. I didn't shoot well but still was smiling from the layout and beauty of this course!

Fantastic course to play this time of year when the weather is tolerable and conditions were great. Overall from tee to greens, couldn't ask for anything more. Tee boxes were leveled, fairways were like carpet and in some areas, you can actually putt from it. Fringe areas were well manicured and traps were consistent. Greens roll true and were about 10 to 10.5 so they were awesome to putt on. Customer service was most outstanding and we look forward to coming back soon for a few more rounds
