Pete dye was played on June 28th. In my opinion a better course than the Gary player course. Definitely more water on this course and more houses. Fairways were about the same as the Gary player course. Nice, tight and green. The
Bunkers seemed a little more plentiful and very sandy. Water came into play a lot more. The greens had the same patchy green and brown look but were much better. The roll was nice and nowhere near as bumpy and they were a lot faster. Still not as fast as expected. I would definitely play here again.

Enjoyable layout with hilly fairways, elevated greens, lateral bunkers and water hazards, etc. If you're playing during the summer and have an early tee time, the green rolled slow in the AM, however as soon as the hot sun comes out, the greens dry up quickly and your ball barely stops. Finished in 4 hrs.

Teed off at 6:38 today with a $140 coupon for unlimited golf for two. We only had time for one round but it was still about 15% off. It was breezy but otherwise ideal weather. Two twosomes teed off in front of my foursome. We saw the group in front of us on 18 when we were on the 14th tee. We still managed a 3.5 hour round and never saw the group behind us.

It was my first time here. The staff was very nice but unfortunately the snack shop was closed when we made the turn and the takeout window for the restaurant was not a quick option. I waited for a while but never saw a server and a guy waiting for his food said it had been a while since he ordered. The tees were up on the driving range and it was irons only.

I was able to find a level lie on each tee although it took some thought on some of the boxes. The fairways were nice with no bare spots I saw. The rough was long enough to be a factor without there being any danger of losing a ball. It was just about the height of a ball. The sand was good. The greens were excellent although not as quick as the day before at Shadow Ridge. They were very firm. They held, but there was some kick out on longer irons.

Overall a quality experience. I thought it was a tamer Pete Dye lay out but I hit the ball well which undoubtedly colored my perception. Not sure if I am coming back given the choices in the desert - probably depends on the rate.

Payed a nice round this past Sunday. Excellent customer service as always. Very light tee sheet and the starter let us go early as only a twosome. Flew through the round and even while waiting a bit for group ahead, finished in just over 3 1/2 hours. Cart girl came around often. FYI- carts have ice buckets, no GPS, but they give you a yardage book and you can see pretty much all your shots. Pins have prisms also to lock in on your range finder. It was a beautiful day, no wind at all, wispy clouds and barely a sound. Perfect 72 degrees. Kinda surreal feeling. Greens were excellent and quite fast. Held shots well, soft and true. Greens here are always real nice. Tee boxes level and lush. Fairways beautiful. Rough not real long with the areas around the sand going dormant. Will make for a nice little color contrast in the next few weeks. Sand good. A little heavy, but no rocks. I always enjoy this course and the service. Great course for women as well at 4841 yards TeaGal has good scoring opportunities.

I was kinda of disappointed by this course. Somewhat because it's a Troon property and while the conditioning was great it wasn't up to the level of other properties of theirs I have played. I kind of just felt like it was another course. The layout had a few interesting holes but nothing I really remember as standing out. Number 9 was actually pretty cool. I guess I'm just not a big Dye fan. Anyway the course was a little brown, which was fine because of the heat. The greens rolled true but a little slow as I expected. Overall I thought it was just a meh course with above average conditioning.

Played on 8/11/14 with a buddy of mine for only $15, including unlimited range balls, which is pure highway robbery considering the caliber of course you are presented with. Arrived at the resort two hours before our tee time and checked in at the pro shop to a very friendly staff who mentioned we could head out pretty much whenever we were finished at the range. Really big selection of equipment and apparel at the pro shop (if you're in that shopping mood) and a very nice bathroom/men's locker room with complimentary issues of Golf Digest.....real nice touch. Now, getting to the golf. Driving range was awesome. All grass stalls with nice range balls and long enough to whack some "Bubba Watson" drives out there. Got off the first tee ahead of schedule where this eclectic collection of Pete Dye's designs were waiting for me and my buddy. Tee boxes were all in excellent condition, never had trouble finding a perfectly level spot to hit from, including the par 3s. Fairways were also in exceptional condition, not too hard or soft. Even color from tee to green, never had a bad lie in the fairway. Greens themselves were in good condition considering they'd suffered through the months of intense desert heat. They'd been punched about a month ago and were nearly completely healed by the time we played. Received approach shots very well and rolled at a nice pace of about 10 on the stimp. Bunkers would be the only area of just minor concern as most of the fairway and some of the greenside bunkers could use a bit more sand and/or be fluffed up a little, but now I'm just nitpicking. All in all this course was a delight to play. Among the easier of Pete Dye's courses I've played, yet still challenged with that usual Dye charm (railroad ties, lakes, pot bunkers, etc.). Pace of play was excellent, not a soul in front of us and a group of 3 always at least a full hole behind, finished in just under four hours. Enjoyed the course so much, we almost forgot it was 100 degrees outside. Definitely worth the drive out to the desert, definitely worth the heat, and definitely an awesome experience at the Westin Mission Hills.

Played Saturday morning with Gkers Tobster, TeaGal and Acesfull on a sweet unlimited deal for $39 each. We ended up playing 45 holes yesterday in somewhat humid conditions mixed with the occasional rain.

Course was in pretty good condition, though with the humidity comes gnats....and they are most annoying.

Greens were firm but held good shots into them.

Bunkers were full of sand and not too difficult to hit out of.

Rough was not too long and very playable. Not too difficult a course provided you are striking the ball well. there are many areas where you will have severe uphill pitches to the green and you must under no circumstance come up short or you can just stand still and let your ball find its way back to your feet.

Seems like Pete Dye actually made this course more playable than some of his other tracks.

Carts - pretty disappointing to not have GPS, but they did have an ice chest so that was a plus. Cart Girl came around several time.

Very nice Grass range to warm up on before your round.

Played Sunday. My second time here and it was as good as I remembered. Customer service is good, minus no shuttle person for 10 minutes at the parking pick up location and no one answered the phone when we called several times for a ride, so had to hoof it to the pro shop (not close and not easy to find). Eh. The sky didn't fall, so move on.
Range is good, practice green definitely slower than the course.
Tee boxes, fairways, rough all very good, no real issues. Sand was abundant but very heavy and a bit solid underneath the light top layer. I can only attribute this to last weeks heavy rains as there was definitely plenty of sand, just couldn't get out with the wedge, had to use the lob. Greens were tough to gauge speed, maybe because the practice green was slower, who knows, maybe it was just me.
All in all a good fun, challenging course. Open fairways, big greens, but decent undulation throughout made it a fun and fair challenge.
Cooler but no GPS on carts. Saw cart girl often. Excellent pace of play, just at 4 hours. Recommended.
