This course seems to amaze us on our yearly pilgrimage to the palm springs area. Condition was fantastic considering how hot it is out there this time of the year. From tee to greens, we couldn't ask for anything better. Although the greens were a bit bumpy, as long as you have a firm putt, it will hold the line. I had a blistering front nine with 2 birdies (40). Customer service is excellent as always. Wish that we could play more than just once a year

Was fortunate enough to play this course over the weekend. I cannot stress enough how enjoyable the course was and how hospitable the staff was.

The course: A great layout (as expected from a Pete Dye design) with a great mix of holes. The conditions were superb, even for the extremely hot, windy and dry climate. I was really surprised at how few dry patches their were. The greens, although firm, were lush and rolled true.

The staff: They were extremely helpful from check in through the end. Range balls were included in the green fees, and the grass range really helped prior to the round. Starter got us out on time and a marshal helped move groups along nicely.

As far as staying at the resort, I highly recommend it as well. The villa rooms were very reasonably priced and were perfect for a group of golfing buddies looking to get away for the weekend, with grills included in each room.

Played 36 holes an group golfer deal here on 4/30. I am happy to say conditions were excellent. The last time we were here was in December and they were struggling with getting to the standard Palm Springs winter conditions everyone expects. Something to do with staying open late for a big tournament and not having enough time to really get course ready. When we played in December they even plopped two of their staff on hole three to explain the conditions to you and give you the reason why they marked in perfect condition. I was actually super impressed with that. I always like this course. Think Pete Dye lite. More of the resort course design a typical difficult Dye design but still has all those features that make one of his courses so cool.
Greens were excellent and actually quite fast. Teeboxes super level and perfectly lush. Fairways excellent with rough a little thicker and good sand.
This is always a decent course and you can find good deals to play here throughout the year.

Played this morning 2/20/16 in 4:15. Right on time and the marshall was out keeping everyone in line even as it seemed slow on the way out over the first few holes.

The rough does not appear overseeded yet isn't totally dead so the course doesn't look super lush or have that great contrast look.

Fairways are beautiful and play great. Didn't hit any dead spots or GUR

Tee boxes were so so. about 2/3 are great and 1/3 are not flat but with a slight hump that can make finding a flat spot to tee off hard.

Sand is more dirt like. Plays like sand but not the same consistency.

I don't like playing house lined courses but there was plenty of room everywhere where they never come into play so that was a plus. Very little water comes into play also.

Greens play flat with little break but quick and in immaculate shape. Pin placement was very tough though.

A wonderful start to the day.

Played the Golds (6158/69.5/125) in 4H, 15M using Forelinx. Paired up with Mark, Gordon & Patty for a very fun round. The weather was 80ish, clear and breezy. Even with OB down both sides of many holes, the layout is not as tight as I expected. However, there are several holes where water comes prominently into play. This course would be difficult to walk as numerous tees are a long ways from the last green. The tees were lush and well maintained, only a few of the par 3's needed divot attention. The fairways were lush and very well maintained. Few unfixed divots. The rough was very playable and not overly penal. Semi lush, occasionally thin. The traps were decent with dark brown sand/dirt. They play better than they look. The greens were smooth and putted medium speed. Firm but still held well struck approach shots. The breaks here are not as severe as on most Dye courses. A conventional Pete Dye layout, but much tamer than most I have played. Present are the traditional Dye runoffs around greens, mounds, water features etc. Not as good a course as it's sister Player layout IMO. Don't care for the par 70 with only 2 par 5's. Also, not having a tee option between 6700 & 6100 yards seems too large a gap? Plenty of water stations on the course and the Drink cart was out making the rounds. The customer service was excellent all around. Good facilities, complementary range balls although the range tops out @ 220 yards. Okay course, better than average, but far down the Palm Springs area list. Recommended = yes.

Played here Friday 2/5. Teed off on time at 8:06. Tee boxes were pretty consistent-not level. Fairways were lush and had great lies through out the round. Fairway bunkers were descent; sort of a mixture of dirt/sand...real heavy. Green side bunkers were the same. Besides the first green (which looked like it was strafed by golf balls) the rest of the greens were medium to slightly fast but rolled true and were fairly smooth. Pace of play was around 4 hours. As mentioned in previous reviews, there is a working marshal who maintains the magic 4:15 round (which is rewarded with a pretty nice lunch for $4.15 if accomplished). Was really looking forward to playing a Pete Dye course. Have to say this is more like Pete Dye lite. This is a resort course so, you're not going to find it very challenging. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and would recommend playing here.

Played this morning at 7:42am using the Underpar deal for 2 players w/free replays. Tee'd off right on time on a busy Saturday morning with the course full of snowbirds. Overall course conditions seem to have improved from the previous reviews. The fairways have all filled in and are a nice dark green that are framed beautifully by the dormant yellow rough making it easy to see where you're supposed to go. Tees were mostly level with good coverage but a little too many divots. Rough was not an issue. Bunkers seemed ok but I didn't visit any. Greens were the downside. Slow, bumpy, and full of old ball marks. Quite disappointing for a resort course. One great thing was the fact that they really take the Troon POP seriously. Even with over 200 rounds booked today, the pace was right on time at 4:15 with the marshall making many passes to keep us updated of any potential slow play ahead while also getting those slower groups to keep up. Wish all courses would do this!

Played Christmas Day with some Troon Passes my father had. Paired with two guys from Los Angeles. 4 hr round.

Good customer service, nice layout. Conditions were OK at best. Greens are pretty bad - all are slow, bumpy and still recovering from punching. Fairways good. Traps were acceptable.

Free round, so I can't complain too much. The resort is beautiful and the dinner buffet that night was excellent.

Overall, easy recommend, but read reviews first so you know the conditions going in. I feel like this course is usually in better shape.

Played weekend of 12/5. The course should recover but is not in the condition it normally is or should be for this time of the year. As it was explained to us by almost everyone working there, including two marshals that planted themselves on hole 3, they had some booking for a major group for a few days that they had to keep the course open, thus seeding late with a dry month, etc etc something like that. I was impressed that they were so quick to tell us that they know the course isn't as good as normal. Bottom line, they are aware that the course in not where it needs to be and are working to get it there. Here's the summary,,, greens are super slow and crazy bumpy, some very shaggy. Sand is full with a fresh dumping for winter. Tees were fine. Fairways thin and rough a bit thin, but nothing that isn't playable. There aren't bare spots and it's still a decent round of golf but it all is still growing in. I like this track and the people. Hopefully it will recover well enough for what the winter visitors expect the course to look like.
