Golf: Nice challenging layout, fantastic views including mountains, deer and city.
Staff: Great friendly people looking to help you enjoy your day out, special mention to Scott in the clubhouse and Mary on course.
Pace of play: Great if you are out early otherwise 5 hour weekends... Partly due to 10 min interval starts and more due to golfers searching for balls holes 2-5... Recent changes regarding tees, environmental areas and cart access have really improved the pace.
Overall I highly recommend this course for staff, quality of golf and value.

Well i like the course but i don't want to play there much now. It was really kinda slow but it was fun. The hole number two is kinda screwed up because you land in the farway and the ball runs down to the sidwak and goes out to the hasards. but i think it is better now from before. The farway now are realy hard pand so you can get a lots of roll and that is god for guys who are not to long. Some of the tee box are crooket and have divots so you have to look for a place to put the tee. The greens are going fast but they are dry but real fast and hard so only a high ball can come down and stop faster. It was real slow so we went past and played the front again in the afternood then later we drove to the holes and played all 18 holes. I used to play here a lot but more at other courses because some guys from the club are not the best to deal with. Oh yes and some of the san traps are only hard but we move the ball to a place with grass not sure why they don't have sand some have good sand . I like the pro shop and most the guys who work there are realy friendly. I hope it get a little bit cooler out here soon.

There are several fairway bunkers being worked on but marked GUR so it doesn't hurt your score. Just like most courses the drought and the winds we've been having have certainly speeded up the greens. Plenty of water to drink around the course which is nice especially since it will be in the 100's next week.

So I heard from one of the cart girls that there is new management in place here. Old GM gone. From her point of view, she and her colleagues are more 'conservatively' adorned, so if that is what brings you here then I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

That said, people take over golf courses for one of two reasons - either to drive them into the dirt and redevelop the land as something else; or, to run the place better! The latter option appears to be the case. There is plenty of cosmetic/superficial evidence of a new sheriff being in town: there are new cart direction signs all over the place; the old 'black-gold-white-jade' tee order has been replaced with a more standard 'black-blue-white-red' config; and you can now drive on the first fairway! Gone, I suppose was the old excuse of "we keep it cart-path only so the wedding shots taken from the practice green have the lush background of the first fairway to them". Now your nuptials will include my tire tracks.

Then, there is also some evidence of maintenance trying to improve conditions. The fairways have been verticut recently to de-thatch them - this is welcome as the turf here is hard as rocks and thin growth-wise, so this should help promote some lushness if they add water (not sure about that part! It's dry and thin right now). Also, there are lots of gurs marked and apparently being worked on to recondition them. That said, the result is lots of bald spots - especially in the rough. It seems the old plan of growing in the rough to narrow down the fairways has bitten the dust along with cart girl tanks.

That said, course is generally playing thin and fast. It's hard as rocks throughout. It's great downwind/hill as it goes forever, but the greens will not hold unless you can fizz it in there with some spin. They are both fast but bobbly. Lots of unrepaired ball-marks and some numb-nuts walking around everywhere in the strangest, circuitous paths wearing what appeared to be soccer cleats. Tees are lush but you don't spend much time there. All the sand needs reconditioned as it is crusty, gravel-filled and usually thin with hard-packed material below the surface.

Good luck to the new owners. Let's hope they turn on the spigot. Let it flow.

Greens were fast and you needed to stay below the hole. Overall I really had a good time but I'm no pro like the earlier reviewer, I just enjoy a nicely maintained course.

Played Friday Apr 4th Greens were in really good shape for just being punched a few weeks ago. POP was ok there was a 3 some infront of us that was slow, they should have pulled away from our 4some but did not. The course has tried to speed up play by allowing galf carts on all the fairways except par 3, yes that includes #1 and it was really nice. They have also cleared out most ot the underbrush for the holes and that will speed up play also.

Course is coming around, fairways tight but fair. Green punched 2 1/2 weeks but still a lot of sand and very bumpy. Stay away for a couple more weeks so the greens can come around.

No rating as this is to update you on how the course fared in the recent rains (and, they will be starting spring aeration soon anyway). If you play here then you know it can be vulnerable to rain given the terrain the course plays through.

Overall, I think they did ok as no cart paths or anything else was washed out. There was a lot of mud on the paths and some small rivers of mud flow from the surrounding mountains onto the fairways - especially on the front nine - but the crews were out with heavy equipment clearing things off early Sunday morning so good for them. Biggest issue is the bunkering. I would estimate they will have to re-do most of them as they were either washed out or turned to mud. Expensive, but they say they have a plan to re-condition them.

Looks like they started watering and the fairways are getting green. Greens were smooth and consistent but the best part is the bunkers, all had nice sand (about 4" or more) in them and it was nice to feel your club go sliding through it and your ball just pop out. Other courses should take heed.
