Played Tuesday, 7/28, (at) 2:30pm as a two-some with my brother. Relatively quiet, we never saw the group ahead of us, and the foursome a couple of holes back was a non-issue. Once again, it was like having the course to ourselves. This is a special occasion course for me, in this case my brother visiting, so I'm always happy to have an excuse to get out here. Another high-90's day with a breeze that was a 2.5 club difference on some holes. The topography causes a lot of swirling winds and it made club selection a very uncertain process at times. It did help keep the edge off the heat. The course itself was in excellent condition. In my mind, the two areas that usually call attention to themselves here are the bunkers and greens. The bunkers here can be on the hard side. I was in a couple and while they were definitely firm, they were playable -- club didn't ricochette off the surface. The appearance of the greens can be a little disconcerting because they consistently have a mottled, almost shaggy look to them with little tufts. In the past, I've found them to be slow for a course of this quality. On this day, appearances aside, I found the greens had a nice medium-to-medium-fast speed and rolled true. One green (15th?) was definitely slower than the rest, but it was the exception. The rest were pretty consistent and I have no complaints about the putting experience. There are beautiful, dramatic views to be had all around this course and each hole is uniquely interesting. If you golf on any kind of a regular basis in SoCal, and you've never tried the Quarry, it should be on your short list to try at least once. Oh, and $42 per for twilight rate with a GolfNow online discount. Such a deal.

I played this course for the first time on the 9th of July and I have to say that it stays true to its reputation of being carved out of rock. So many elevation changes and large bunkers that came into play made my round very enjoyable. Pace was okay and the starter provided range balls while we waited to tee off. I would love to go back again and try to get on the green on the 14th hole. Just missed it by hitting the lip of the bunker. Beautiful hole.

The course was beauiful with several challenging "way cool" holes. the course was in great shape and one of the nicest courses i have ever played. The golf carts and amenities were great and practice areas well maintained.We will definitly play this course again, hole #14 is worth the drive:)

Played on June 23rd and had the course all to ourselves, basically. If heaven is anything like that, I can't wait to die and get there. The course is in great, immaculate shape. Fairways are great, the rough is a bit high, but not unplayable. The traps were in good condition, although some were thin and packed. The only complaint I had was the greens. For being such a high rated course, the greens were too slow. If you played the break, you'd come up short, if you played through the break, you'd end up way past the hole. If they cut them and roll 'em they will be in great shape and make for better putting. Other than that, I couldn't recommend this course enough. Worth the drive and even better if you play during the week. Had a 9:40am tee time, got out at 9:00 and finished by 12:45. And who would ever think that a rock quarry can be so scenic.

What a view! Amazing seeing how the quarry is integrated with the course. With the exception of a few holes, you wouldn't think there was anything outside of the course. Tee boxes were kept up pretty well. lush and level; Fairways were good as well; Rough was a little too thick, but I guess that's part of the challenge; Greens were slow - but very smooth - which I think is more important anyways. Traps were pretty hardpan - so don't make your way there. It was very open - and we finished in 4 hours. I'll certainly play this course again.

I had 2 buddies in from chicago and the day before we played Oak Quarry, we had played Monarch Beach. I thought that after playing Monarch that playing the Rock would be a step down, but I was mistaken. I was blown away by the service at Monarch, but I was in awe by the stunning oasis otherwise known as Oak Quarry. I would have to say that the playing conditions at the Rock are immaculate. The greens were just perfect and the fairways were immpecable. I found myself sightseeing when I wasn't hitting, luckily we had no one behind us (we were the last group out due to a shotgun tournament being played later that day). The pace was great, the group in front of us were a bit slow but the marshall found us on the 4th hole and immediately went up to the group ahead of us and asked them to play from the middle tees and play best ball to speed up the round (again due to the shotgun tourney pending). That day there was no cart girl for whatever reason and the marshall went to the clubhouse to restock our coolers with beer; just awesome customer service.

I've played Badlands in Vegas and this course has some reminders of that type of course (target golf). I enjoyed the challenge and the views. I was throughly impressed and often wondered how the staff maintained this course so well in such a hot area. This course is a must play and don't let the consistent theme throughout the reviews that this is a tough course deter you. It's challenging but it's not going to kill your round; sure I lost a few but what a great day on the course...not sure if there are any better in southern california for the money.

Absolutely, one of the finest and visually captivating inland courses I have ever played. Played last weekend on an annual spring golf trip. The course was in fantastic shape. The wind does make many of the holes extremely difficult, but the overall golf experience of playing this course and spending time with great friends is truely memorable. The GM of the club personally welcomed our group when we were eating lunch which was a nice touch.
