My experience with this course was not as negative as others. That being said, the other members of my foursome who had previously played this course were dismayed by its state of maintenance. Parts of the course were parched, while others were soggy. I am willing to cut So Cal courses some slack due to the current water emergency, but IMO they have some issues here with irrigation. The greens were inconsistent - some were OK, but others were lumpy. A lot of ball search time could be avoided by better manitenance of the rough. Some of the fairways showed damage (furrows) caused by mowers. One of our carts did run low on power and had to be pushed in by the other.

On the plus side, there was beverage cart service on the course this weekend. The cart girl was prompt and friendly, but they did not offer sodas or bottled coffees - only beer, Gatorade, and water. There were plenty of Igloo coolers with water on the course. There were towels on the ball washers, but some of them were dry. The pro shop was sparely stocked, but at least the staff was helpful and courteous.

I found the layout to be interesting and challenging, and I would play there again. I hope the course is in better shape when we play it next time.

I made the same mistake as others. I purchased what seemed to be a good deal on click4teetimes before checking the reviews first. Big Mistake, Stay Away from this course. I played it 4 years ago and it was a great course, the course now is a shame to Pete Dye's name. By the way the Pro Shop did nothing about the fact that a group of 7 was playing two groups in front of us. It took us over 3 hourse to play 9 holes.

Played Temeku Hills yesterday, June 13, 2009. I only wish I'd read the reviews before playing. When we were getting ready to go to the first tee, a foursome making the turn were turning in their carts because of low battery.

We started running out of power on 12 and on hills one of us had to get out and walk.

Ball cleaning stations -- either no towels or towels in shreds.

Greens -- mixed grass , rough spots, clover growing on the greens.

Scorecard -- Should be called "scorepaper".

Overall -- will never go back.

I took a client who lives near the area and suggested we try something new instead of the usual at Red Hawk, Cross Creek, or Temecula Creek....as he said"it's like trying a new beer". Well, that turned out to be a warm Shlitz- what a mistake!!
This was by far, the absolute worst conditioned course I have ever played. The fairways were for the most part full of weeds, crabgrass and dead grass. They were so dry that you could feel the airborne particulate sticking to your legs- sending you running for allegra from sneezing. Some parts of the rough that were lucky enough to receive water from runoff/drainage looked like they hadn't been mowed in 2-3 years. The bunkers were by far the worst; full of 1-3 foot tall weeds (even the greenside bunkers), rocks/gravel and trash. Converse to the rest of the course, the greens appeared to be receiving water. My ball was almost halfway burried in the green on the majority of my approach shots and you could hear a squish when walking on them. 3 greens had gofer holes on them with HUGE piles of sand taking up portions of the putting surface.
My client had to go #2 on the back nine and the bathrooms had no toilet paper or towels and all the ball cleaning stations were bone dry. All water holes were a beautiful brown color, covered with a stagnant biofilm and non-operating waterfalls.
We kept going (with many laughs) just to see what was in store next. If one was to imagine what a totally neglected and unkept golf course would look like, this is it. Dumbfounded by our experience, we asked the bartender why the course was in such disrepair. She told us the course was sold approx 2 years ago and the new owner, a Korean native, has had no presence (or pride of ownership) and has been apparently trying to sell for almost double what he paid?!?
This course should absolutely be removed from GolfNow.com , clickforteetimes.com or anything similar. Isn't there a minimum standard to label yourself a "premier gold destination"??
It is a crime that they charge close to $50 (and $69 on weekends)....Stay away!!!!!

I showed up to an empty Golf Shop with Judge Judy on the TV and a family running around like its a Day Care. The short girl behind the counter gave serious attitude, as it turns out, her brother is the GM. The Grill room was closed on ladies day, seems there was no food and the cook quit. The garbage is leaching out of the container in to the parking lot, can you smell that? I was told the rest is being stored behind the maintenance shack and the town was fining them daily, seems it hasn't been pick-up in a month.
Now wait, are we talking about Temeku Hills, Ted Robinson, and Pete Dye design, yup, we are. Seems every bit of real golf staff has been replaced with family members of the GM. Sure sounds like an absentee owner. The water had been turned off when we got there but they said that would only be for a day or two. The greens have been getting better, but there is something growing on them. Little orange circles.
Enough said, save your money till it closes or changes hands.

STAY AWAY!!! Everything about the condition of this course warrents a POOR rating. The Tees, Fairways, Bunkers we are the worst I've seen. With the possible exception of the greens, at least they were green but very bumpy. The staff left a lot to be desired as well. When we made the turn they tried to sneek a group in front of us to have them start on number 10 becasue the front was so backed up. We were disapointed even though we played on a day where they were running a two-for-one special. It's such a shame too because I played this course a number of years ago and it was plush. It has a tremendous layout. But the poor shape of the fairways and bunkers makes it too punishing of a course to post a decent score. This was a bad experience. RUN AWAY!!!
