Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii! In Tahoe on Vacation, and Played Squaw Creek on Tuesday, 8/25/17 and Northstar on Thursday 8/27/17. Squaw Creek, (Better known as Squaw Swamp) was not worth the time frustrating, difficult, & poorly maintained. Northstar was a pleasant comparison. Customer service was terrific, and the course, while difficult - especially the back nine - was enjoyable for the high handicap senior. I'd definitely come back.
Played here 5 years ago and vowed to never return, but gave in to peer pressure and came back. Due to a junior's tournament we started on the back nine. Playing from the whites. Lost 4 balls in the first 2 holes. So frustrating, difficult links conditions.
We were calling it Squaw Swamp instead of Squaw Creek.
The front nine is a mountain course, and while difficult, not nearly so much as the back nine.
The saving grace was that we had a Hot Deal on Golfnow and only paid $40 instead of $99. Needless to say, I never want to set foot on this property again!

Played on April 26th and again on May 2nd. Really like this course.... first of all, Gil in the pro shop is great. Very personable and accommodating. I agree with the OP that the members are a little snooty, but not bad. I left my wedge on the green and the foursome behind us, who were members, returned it and were very nice and courteous.
I'm comparing this course to Yucaipa and Sierra Lakes. Definitely a step up from Yucaipa, and not quite as good condition as Sierra Lakes. The Pro shop is pretty sparse.
Driving range is just OK, but a nice chipping green and putting green.
The course is in very good condition. It's long and flat. It seems that every hole is either 500 yd par 5 or 185 to 195 par 3. All in all, very enjoyable and reasonable price. Golf now has a hot deal during the noon hour, but after you pay the booking fee, it's not that great a deal.
We plan on playing again as it's very convenient and enjoyable.

Played Sierra Lakes on Thursday April 20th. Weather was great and course is in great shape.
The Pro at Sierra Lakes, Ben Smith, is an outstanding teacher and with all the value added, lessons with him are a real bargain.
The pro shop staff is always good and courteous.
Recommend SL & Ben highly....!!!

I understand the sale is now complete and the course is in great shape. I haven't played it yet, but plan to very soon.... There are some good "hot deals" on golfnow for $25....
Played RDM on Monday, July 18, 2016 for the first time in a few months. The good news is that the course continues to improve. The greens are now very good, and the fairways are at a 7 or 8 out of 10. Tee boxes are still somewhat rough. Bring lots of balls, because if you miss the fairway, it's gone.
In the past few years it had really gone down hill, but, thankfully, they are on the right track in restoring it. Definitely recommend it now.

Played on 12/23/14. Haven't played here in 2 or 3 years. Wow! What a transformation! I actually hesitated to write a review because I'd like to keep it a secret.
Fairways and greens are in great condition. Pace of Play very good. The new clubhouse is nice and the staff from the starter to the cashiers were friendly and efficient.
Our only criticisms were that 1. the driving range was closed on Tuesday, 2. the traps were "hard sand", 3. the first cut rough was a little too long, making it difficult to find the ball, and 4. several of the ball washers on the back 9 had loose lids making washing a little challenging. Almost like a prankster had removed the screws.
Other than those minor problems, it was a thoroughly enjoyable round. We normally play at Sierra Lakes but due to the $78 holiday green fees we opted to play at YV for $32! And glad we did. We'll be back!!

Played Redhawk Monday morning 12/8/14. Normally the service is good here, but the check in girl at the pro shop, Ashley, was somewhat rude. The fairways were going brown and were bare in places & puddles in others . Greens were in good condition, but slow. Tee boxes needed mowing.
I lost a headcover on the course & afternoon proshop clerk was very attentive and called later in the PM to let me know it was found.
overall a good experience.

Was in Westlake Village for Thanksgiving and my sister in law suggested this course. Played Thanksgiving morning for their 9 and breakfast deal. $30. Played with SIL's boyfriend and a local single who joined us. Teed off on #10 at 7:15 and temp was chilly but warmed up for a perfect morning. I really like this course. It's in good condition, lots of trees and is very challenging. Lots of doglegs and the greens were fast & difficult. I'd like to play all 18 sometime.
It's definitely showing improvement!!
If you read the previous reviews of RDM, it got nice reviews up untiil 2008, then in 2013 it was really bad. I've been playing there since 2004, when we got a vacation condo at Playa Blanca. Always enjoyed it. But then with the downturn in the economy, and the fear of the drug cartels, it went steadily down hill. They dropped the affiliation with Marriott, laid workers off, cut back on maintenance until it was like playing in a cow pasture. We actually quit playing there and started going down to bajamar, even though it was a 40 minuted drive and more expensive.
Now it's definitely improving. Played there in August, September & October and the difference is noticeable. The greens are definitely getting back in shape, they've invested in mowers so the fairways are much better. They've also reduced green fees so weekday 18 is now $29 and worth it. The putting green is still under repair and the carts aren't the greatest. It's still not up to the standards of Bajamar or Campestre, but the vistas are spectacular, the staff is friendly, it's a good "baja experience" and closer to the border.
Give it a try.

1:06 tee time at a $25 rate. What a deal! Checking in, the clerk in the pro shop was gorgeous & courteous. We teed off at 1pm & finished just a little after 5. Nobody on the course which was great. I haven't played GR in a couple of years so my expectations were low and what a pleasant surprise. The course is in excellent condition, greens ran true but not exceptionally fast. All in all an enjoyable round and the price is a steal.
Played 4/21/14. I play Bajamar about once a month, and really enjoy it. The guys I play with are not "Speed golfers". We are high handicappers so Bajamar is perfect.
Customer service: The staff is friendly and accomodating. If you play around breakfast or lunch, just order in the restaurant, then they deliver to you on the course.
The cart girl, Maria, is really friendly and outgoing. Play more than once and she's VERY friendly.
The course...: Bajamar has 3 courses... Lagos, Vista, & Oceano. It seems they like to put you on Oceano first, then Vista or Lagos. We generally play Lagos or Vista first then Oceano last because it's so beautiful. The course is in good condition, (except for traps which are dirt), and you always feel that it's all yours. Having played it a couple of dozen times now, I never have had a group in front, or behind experiencing any kind of pressure.
The rates are OK, but there is a coupon every Tuesday in the San Diego U-T newspaper for $51 which is a great rate for this course.
Love it!!
