Great views and layout. Love this course. From tee to green was very nice. Greens very fast, and so are the bunkers, which I had more than a few looks at. Some great elevation changes, which made me hit a ball nearly 400 yards on the drive. Only complaint is the golf carts. Batterys are very weak. Had to switch out a cart once 1/2 way through, and the new cart was dying with still 4 holes left to play. Always nice service when they compensate you for that, as well as picking you up and your bags in the parking lot. I'll be back here.

Teed off in a slight rain shower on 3/4...Starting on 10...Rumor has it that the carts will die going up 18 if you play in holes in their correct order. In a way, that is too bad, especially because I though the back side was WAY harder than the front...More forced carries, so if you are planning to ease into your round, forget it. The view from 18 was spectacular as we could see a rainbow from end to end. Tee boxes and greens were in good shape, fairways were spotty at best. Relatively short from the white tees and fairly open with some margin for error on a lot of shots. Overall, a nice course with enough elevation changes to keep you guessing. Some of the greens seem really small, especially with the mounding around them. Putting is no cinch, the greens were fast (despite the rain) and very few putts are flat. The two nines have a completely different feel with the front seeming a lot more like your "normal" golf course, the character of this tract is on the back.

Played on Saturday, 2/7/09. The threat of rain scared everybody away....and they missed a great day of golf! Sure, it "drizzled and spit" a bit - perhaps on four holes total. But that just made it so the greens held all shots.

Some bunkers were still filled with rain-water...but I have to say...Trilogy drains really well!

No complaints. Great conditions for this time of year.

Played 7:30a Sat. As usual the meet and greet from the staff was very friendly. Still getting used to the start off of #10. (cart issues because of steep hills forced this change, maybe when the 'new' cart rotation takes place it will be switched back). Tee boxes are in good condition and landing areas, (fairways), are too! The greens are fairly smooth but you'll find sporadic growth of flowering. The closer the ball gets to the hole the more these will move your ball, so putt firmly to the cup! Although fairway seeking tee shots are a must, this is a very enjoyable course to play even when army golf is the order of the day!

An update on Trilogy....it's still in pretty good shape. Cart-path only on #10 and #13 when we played yesterday (1/3/09) Overall the fairways, although not very "pretty and green" play fairly consistently. No real thin areas, few spots of GUR. I can now officially say that I am an expert in the area of "Trilogy bunkers". Man...they sure have a bunch of 'em...and I was in way too many. Really good quality sand in the bunkers. Well-maintained. The greens rolled true...and - although not too fast...a downhill putt could still get away from you if you are not paying attention. They were not perfect...but far better than most. Staff is great. Ours was a Saturday round...so a pace of 5.0 hours can be expected.

Had a Saturday morning tee-time at Empire Lakes....arrived at 7:00 A.M. - and were told that there was a frost delay (no kidding - it was wicked-cold and you could see that the greens were frosty/frozen from a distance!) We were informed that nobody was going out until 10:00. The players' cell-phones in the pro-shop and coffee shop were buzzing away as foursomes scrambled to make other tee-times up and down the 15 Freeway corridor.

Called Goose Creek (of course) - and they had a similar frosty problem on their hands...Oak Quarry reported that they could get us out around 10:00, no problem. Black Gold said "maybe 9:00 or 9:30 - come on down".

We took a vote...and the 9:00 time at Trilogy, Glen Ivy, won the day.

We arrived at 8:00....and they told us to get our gear together....they were putting all the morning times out in a shotgun at 8:20 A.M. We got assigned hole #10 and were the second group off the back-side.

Steady pace of play....4 hours and 20 minutes....waited on very few shots. The fairways were not "mid-Spring" green...but they were nicely trimmed and held the ball up well. A few spots of GUR - but overall, the course is in very playable condition.

The bunker-sand was quite nice and consistent. The greens might have been a little bumpy, but rolled true....fast as hell downhill, slow uphill...no complaints.

Trilogy is holding her own so far this winter. If given the choice, I'd pick Trilogy over some my other local haunts.

Course is healing pretty good tee boxes are fine, fairways is getting better but not perfect, There's a green line in the 50 yard mark that you cant drive the carts but its still good. Greens are getting there. Finished at almost sunset. I Hope they adjust the twilight to like 11 am now coz we almost didnt finish. Over all course is still good to play now specially with the discount.

Trilogy GC (Glen Ivy) has been both "in" and "out" of my rotation over the years since they opened. It's often ended up on the "out" list simply due to poor conditions *on* the course, as the people, staff, track and set-up (clubhouse, pro shop, etc.) have always been top notch all the way.

The Triolgy company, as a rule, does great things with their courses....the times I've spent at Trilogy, La Quinta and Trilogy, Vistancia (AZ) have been outstanding. It's only this Glen Ivy track that sems to run hot and cold. I've never been able to figure out why this "very, very good to very, very bad" swing takes place. I'm sure it has to do with various greenskeepers being fired and hired over the years. Sometimes the greens themselves have been so bad that I've wanted to walk off the course and demand my money back!

This is NOT the case right now, however. Overall, I'd give the couse a solid "B-plus" rating. The fairways are beautiful, perhaps a wee bit thinner in spots than I'd like to see them, but they are certainly playable. Different kinds of grasses (due to the time of year, no doubt!) make for some uneven lies, but - that's just golf in November...I have to cut them some slack.

The greens are not 10.0 perfect....but they are pretty nice. Smoothness (if there's a problem at Trilogy, it's usually the lack of smoothness of their greens!) is good, speed is medium-to-fast, at least when we played (Saturday, 11/8/08)....you don't want many downhill putts from above the hole....your ball can really slide down the hill!

Bunkers have great quality sand in them (I was only in two on Saturday) and there is plenty of it. The rough is not too long, but you'd be best to stay in the short grass.

For some reason (I didn't ask "why?") - they had our foursome tee-off on the #10 tee so we played the course "backwards". Not a huge deal, but - #18 is such a great finishing hole, I sort of hated to see it be our "ninth" hole...and then finish on a par-three (#9)

Pace was....well...just "O.K." I guess. For a Saturday. (We had the 7:37 A.M. time...and got off right on time...another good thing about Trilogy...unless there's a frost or weather delay, they do keep the first tee running on-time!) 4.5 hours total...no major back-ups, but, we did have to wait on a majority of the holes. Saw no marshalls out there.

The beverage cart girl was seen twice...which is about right. It was warm, not too warm. Never saw her on the front-side...saw her on the tee at our "10th"...and once again right before we finished.

Trilogy GC Glen Ivy is solidly in my regular rotation again. Overall, a great golfing experience, from the time I dropped of my clubs at the bag-drop until I left for home. Worth the drive. Along with Oak Quarry, Goose Creek, Empire Lakes and Hidden Valley...it makes the corridor along the 15 freeway a golf Mecca.

From the earlier reviews and my drive out, I expected a whole lot more from this course. They just finished overseeding the fairways but there are spots that have different grass growing. The greens are wonderful though, not bumpy at all and they roll even better. Overall it was a good experience. Wouldn't have come if I didn't have a red dot coupon - got on for $33. I'd like to come back and play the 18th hole again, the 500 ft drop can make you feel like a hero since the ball goes so far...
