I'll keep bringing my friends that have heard about but not played here.

Played first time here 10/27/07at noon.Still finding ashes of disastrous fire of socal all over the course.Not yet finished clubhouse(even started) but once at playing course you really surprise with challenging layout you encounter.From last year passing freeway 15 I saw the new course coming just thinking it's gonna be flat & plain course but with elevation changes,tight fairways & lagos coming into play makes real tough front 9 holes and back 9 more relaxing wide open. Especially greens got good smooth speeed tending to roll toward freeway(or mountain break?) but it's thin surface of grass are very damageble with ballmarks if not fixed on time and when you fix with divot tool you can feel you're touching second surface of small rocks.
Overall giving more time when course mature little bit more gonna be monster course.

Length of round: 4-1/2 hours (slower than usual).

Condition of course: Greens, tee boxes, bunkers and fairways are very good. The rough is starting to go dormant, but that actually makes it easier to play. There is over-seeding coming through on the tee boxes, so they're a little "hairy", but no biggie.

What I like about the course: It's raw golf. No bells and whistles like with other high-end courses. Sure, there are only 100, 150 and 200 yard markers, no ball washers, no tee box signs, and no driving range, but there is a very interesting course with hard-to-read undulating greens, difficult bunkering and some uneven lies that make you bare-down and concentrate. The place is reasonable ($39 - $69), and some of the holes are totally unique (like #6 and #16). The starters have all been great too!

It's just fun.

Played on Saturday, Oct 20. Went off behind a large group. Was very pleased with the marshall keeping a good pace of play even though the group was a little slow. Loved the layout, very challenging with a good balance of 6 holes very difficult (walk away with par and be happy) , 6 tough but fair holes (par is good but can birdie) , and 6 holes that have plenty of birdies available. While Pro Shop is limited, a very small trailer, they do offer some decent prices on merchandise with nice specials. Not only cute beverage cart gals, they actually have cart staffed with young ladies (don't see that often), and they were all very respectful.

I play in with a group twice a week and decided to play Dos Lagos for the first time on Wed Oct 17th. Thought the track was very intersting especially the contrasting styles of the two nines.

Pace of play was good 4 hours and 15 minutes. The course was in great shape, greens do have alot of ball marks, but stay out of the rough.

One thing different happened that we haven't seen before. While we saw the marshall and cart girl quite often, we even had a visit from the pro. He was going around the course, and saying hi to everyone, he asked if this was our 1st time, and asked for any comments. (very nice touch).

We mentioned a few things like no yardage markers, and the ball marks, we did remark that we thought the water bottles on the course was a nice touch. We did make a suggestion about the ball marks, and suggested that the course follow groups from time to time and take pictures of players not fixing ball marks, and then put their pictures up on the wall, to embarass them into fixing ball marks.
We enjoyed our conversation with him, and actually talked about it later and wished more course pro's would go around so we could meet them and make other suggestions.

We will return, and hope the second time it will be a little easier since we will know the layout.

Second time I've played here and I enjoyed it more this time, except that the front nine greens had been verticut and were rather bumpy, the course was in better condition now than it was when it opened in August. Nice to see they have finally opened most of the tee boxes. There are a number of things which need to be improved, (yardage markers would help) but this course is not as bad as some the recent reviews would infer. It's nothing special, but it was never intended to be.

I have read many reviews that have been posted, and have also played the course at least 15 times since opening. Some of the things are very true about the course, no water coolers, no yardage markers, no tee signs, no ball washers and many other things are missing from a high end type resort course. Everyone should remember that we are not paying $100 plus. The course is priced reasonable at around $45 during the week and $69.00 on weekends. I have had a few rounds that have taken near 5 hours but usually that was on a busy day and it wouldn't matter what course I played on a busy day they all take 5 plus hours. I find the course challenging while fun, and maybe for some 6 par 3's is not their cup of tea but I enjoy par 3's and par 5's so it works out nice. The greens do have some ball marks but not any different than any other course I play. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to really try and make my visits pleasant.

Overall it's not a resort experience, but you don't pay the price of a resort. I hope they don't raise their prices if they add some of the stuff missing but either way it's a great course and a fun place to play
