played 7/17 @ 7:30 am. There hadn't been rain in weeks and yet the course was sopping wet. The fairways were water-logged. Many of the bunkers were bereft of sand. The greens were kind of hairy. I am a little disappointed that it got such a high rating so close to the day that I played there. I got a coupon for a $50 green-fee, so it wasn't all bad. But I'd rather pay $48 with a coupon and play SCGA (awesome shape) than play in 100 degree heat on a course that was rated an 8, but was actually a 5.

I like the layout of the course. Many good risk/reward holes and you can't hit driver all day. I played from the tips and even back there, the course takes the lumber out of your hands on numerous holes (1,4, 11, & 15). #1 is pretty wide open, but you can easily reach the greenside bunker if you hit driver. #4 I hit 3-wood to within 40 yards of the green and was lucky to do so because the fairway is about 15 yards wide right there. #11, if you hit it 280 straight, you run out of fairway. #15 there is no advantage to hitting driver (you'll be left with one of those awkward yardage shots); a 3-wood will leave you a wedge anyway.

If this course "shapes" up, I'll be back.

Course was in very good shape, though the greens were a little bit to soft. Po-anna greens made for some slow putts due to the early heat, almost 90 by 9:30. As the round progressed the greens, meaning the poa, got more bumpy, but not enough to really complain about. With a discount this is a great track, not too long but very challenging and fair. Can see all trouble from the tee box so if you get in trouble it is your fault. Nice mix of par 4s and the par 3s are very difficult, par is a very good score. Really enjoy playing here, one of the best in the area.

Played as a single on 6/23 with a 9:05am tee time. I got paired up with two good dudes and the round was very enjoyable. To echo the sentiments of others, the course has exceptional scenery, it's generally a great time to watch your ball in mid-flight (if you hit it straight) cut through the rock quarry. The greens had a light layer of sand in most spots but in didn't mess much with putting line. I found the front nine much more difficult than the back (42/35), but then again that may have had much to do with my bi-polar scoring. Great service from the proshop, cart girl, and staff. Thoroughly enjoyed the round and will come back at my next opportunity, highly recommended to all socal golfers, of any handicap.

Played 6/20 as a twosome with a 9:40 start. Had made the decison the previouis day to play there. My buddy went ahead and booked a time for 9:48 at the $65 rack rate. I checked golfnow.com and got the 9:40 for $50 each. Needless to say, we went with my reservation. An excellent deal for this course. Frankly, the weekend rates are too rich for my blood so it helps to be able to sneak out on a week day.

The course was generally in very nice shape with some exceptions. Some of the fairways were overwatered. A practice swing sometimes meant having to wipe some mud/grass off the club before taking your real swing which might be a little sloppy. Also, the greens generally had a light layer of sand on them from some recent work on them. This might bother some more than others. Personally, I still found the greens had good speed and rolled pretty true. Not exactly pristine, but the misses were due to the player, not the surface.

All the attributes in previous feedback about the course apply. You don't have to be long to play this course well, but you better be straight, and a good short game will save your butt on a few holes. (But then, doesn't it always?)

The main draw is the fact that it's an very interesting visual course, winding through the old quarry property. Each hole has it's own character and it's own challenges. Most of the greens have multiple levels of some kind and enough contours to keep it interesting.

Sevice was good and I think we saw the cart girl four times through the round.

We had a foursome ahead of us that we occasionally had to wait for (we were a twosome) but we were in no rush and made no effort to press or pass. I think the round took a little over 4.5 hours.

It was warm, but could have been much hotter in that area, so we were lucky that way. Light winds to start that picked up gradually in the afternoon and became a little more of a factor, although not bad.

It's a great course. If you're the type that can pop for $95 on the weekend, go for it. For the rest of us, if you can wait til $65 weekend twilight or weekday morning rate, or a $50 weekday twilight or online special, it's a great bargain and a treat.

Played 6/17/06 on what felt like the hottest day of the year. Overall, the design was interesting and allowed for multiple options off the tee. The pins were tucked today, behind deep and cavernous bunkers. Take notice of slopes and mounds in the vicinity since these will help/hurt your score.
I'd rather not mention the greens, since they were far from smooth. In fact, they were uniformly bumpy and inconsistent.
The staff is great and I find them pleasant. Unfortunately, the greens don't allow for good scoring.

Played before but noticed the bunkers have very coarse sand..very granular..not sand really..greens are true and fast and none of the approaches should be considered easy..multi-tiered greens all around..doesn't penalize you for being a short driver (if you go off the rough..you're done though) but you need a GOOD short game chipping, putting, to get you through the day.

Course is in very good condition, ball sits up nicely on the fairway. Greens are smooth but may have some kind of disease. They look spotty (grass color is not uniform). Would love to play the course again and again unless greens get ruined.
