I could really do without the stereotypes about Asian golfers. I'm Asian, and I bet I play faster and better than most players on this board.

I recognize that there's quite a few of us around the golf courses. But this is LA and to be expected. I've seen many, many White golfers just blow up a round because they belong on the Par-3 course.

One of my favorite courses from the tee because of the way it requires ball movement (mostly fades) and the classic style around the greens, which are protected by slope rather than hazards (not a single water hazard on the course).

The course itself is in good shape. The heat hasn't damaged the greens so much as the humans using them (lots of ball mark damage) and the fairways are bare in some spots, but mostly lush.

That said, who knew that there were so many bad golf swings. The first few holes are unusually difficult and slow down play quite a bit. Too many 15 + handicaps playing from the blue tees; you get all you can handle from the whites, my friends.

Overall, wouldn't mind seeing more beginners over at the par 3 or some sort of regulatory policy that prohibits bad golfers...

Played 6/17/06 on what felt like the hottest day of the year. Overall, the design was interesting and allowed for multiple options off the tee. The pins were tucked today, behind deep and cavernous bunkers. Take notice of slopes and mounds in the vicinity since these will help/hurt your score.
I'd rather not mention the greens, since they were far from smooth. In fact, they were uniformly bumpy and inconsistent.
The staff is great and I find them pleasant. Unfortunately, the greens don't allow for good scoring.

Played on Saturday afternoon. There is a significant amount of construction going on and several tee boxes are closed. It appears that this will take months, not weeks. The course is playing much shorter. The fairways and greens looked to be in good condition, yet some of the bunkers lack an appropriate amount of sand.

Pace of play was slow. 5-somes all around. Marshalls here are useless.

Played here yesterday afternoon and teed off around 2:50pm. First, the course is looking nice; the crew is doing a wonderful job and your efforts are apparent. The greens, fairways, tee boxes and traps were nice (fixed a lot of ball marks, though).

But I can't resist a comment on the pace of play; my friends and I are all very good golfers but don't mind taking our time. Anyway, one of the players in front of us took more than 12 strokes on multiple occasions. She always insisted on holing out and we once counted her taking 15 strokes before reaching the par 5 17. In other words, we weren't able to finish our round.

For all the parents out there and begining golfers, here's a tip: practice. My parents introduced me to the game when I was young, but they did not allow me to play on a course (a par 3 at that) for a year after I picked up the game; until then, just practice. It will make your time on the course more enjoyable.

Played here on Tuesday afternoon. Teed off a little after 3pm and didn't finish until well after 8:30 pm due to the fact that every group in front and behind us played as 5-somes. On one par 3 (I believe the 8th hole), there were 20 people on the hole at one time. Simply unbelievable. The pro shop has no shame. Anyway, I would readily submit this golf course as having the worst golfers of any regulation course; describing these players as hackers would be generous. The course is also marshall-free.

The course itself is looking good; the bunkers have good, fluffy sand that doesn't bury. The greens are nice, a little soft perhaps, but get very bumpy later in the day. The wind off the ocean was brutal, but made the course more challenging.

How hard can it be to level a tee box? After months of construction, it seems that many of the tee boxes on both courses (1&2) are still uneven.

That said, the course is playing well, with greens firmer than they appear. The rough is not too penal and you can get away with some shots. Yet, there are some real monster par 4s.
