Got out to Yucaipa today. Looks like they’ve had some time to do some badly needed maintenance. Fairways were better than I’ve seen them in a long time. Greens are shaggy and slooow but better than before the shutdown. Lots of GUR though. Bunkers were better than any time in recent memory.

Course is very Covid conscious which I appreciate. Single riders per cart, no rakes in bunkers, good check in procedures. Had a kid driving around reminding people to keep their masks on. It’s been interesting to see the varied approaches to how to handle the flagsticks at different courses. Yucaipas is by far the worst. They tell you the flagsticks are removed and cups are in the center of the green. They put a tiny blue flag in the hole which you can barely see on the green and certainly not easily from the fairway. Bottom line, had lots of good iron shots very far from the hole. Other than that, just grateful to be out on a beautiful morning.

Played Sat 2/29 noon tee off, 4.5 hr POP for $39. GK cup match with Sbogey, and Cpennbo joining us with great playing weather. Some trees were budding with leaves and even flowers, but winter course conditions still dominate.
The tee boxes looked good, but they were pretty firm and tough to set your tee. Otherwise, mowed tight and mostly level. Fairways are still in winter shape, shots run and bounce, sometimes in your favor...sometimes not. Rough was good, kept a lot my errant stuff in check. Bunkers, I saw actual rocks in some and never more than about 3/4 inch of breakaway sand in greenside traps. AARG(areas around greens) mostly good, some mixed bag, I played from this stuff a lot today and it was usually a decent lie. Greens are still winter firm and it took a lot to make a ball mark in them. Any shots on green from farther than 150 yds would only have about a 50/50 chance of holding. The greens were better now, than this time last year.
Their were lots of pine cones and other blow down about, must have been windy recently. Yucaipa is tougher in winter, play smart. I had a good time, game and match.

Played 2-21-20. I was disappointed after my last round here to see the course slipping into disarray once again. Saw several dead spots all around the course. Tee boxes were brown and dead. Greens once again were nice with good speed but lots of ball marks. Bunkers as usual were hard but playable. The rough was short and provided a nice hitting surface. I am hoping the storm this weekend will provide some much needed moisture. I will keep you informed!

Played 1-16-20. I couldn't work out the logistics to join the GK Guru folks and play Reflection Bay but have been going crazy wanting to get out and play. Decided Yucaipa would have to do. Arrived early around 8:15. No one was there so got right out on the course. The tee boxes were flat and short but dry. Fairways are in better shape than I have seen in a long while here. Bunkers were hard and some had LOTS of pebbles and rocks. Greens were very smooth and moderately fast. They were hard so didn't hold well but if you played short they rolled out decent. By far the best I have seen this course in a number of years. Made it worth playing. Played 18 in under 3 hours. The parking lot was still mostly empty when I finished so if you are looking for a quick round this is the place, at least mid-week. A strong 5 in my opinion!

played 12/18/2019 played in just under 4 hours...Wednesday is men's club which starts at 8:00 we started at 10:00 and caught up to men's club on number 11, they were done after 14. Course is getting better, they have tried to over seed a lot of bare areas with a little success. Traps are hit and miss, a few really good, but most very bare...I would like them to just take the sand out of all of them myself and at least have the same bare dirt in all of them. Greens are trying to recover from fungus and weed invasion in late summer...they look worse then they putt....down hill putts tend to be on the quick side. One of the LAST affordable Inland Empire courses and good or bad this is just about it......would sure like to see EVERYONE come play it now and again so we can keep it OPEN.

It's been a few years since I last played here, but have always enjoyed the course, particularly the front nine. The staff was perfect ! First time out at 6am. Nobody around so we enjoyed a nice easy 2 1/2 hour round with nobody in front or behind us. The greens were not as good as I remember, decent but need some attention. I did not recall their having so much slope at times, or maybe it was just where I left my shot ? Quite a number of the holes had severe bare areas around the aprons and green surrounds. They are working on the problem, but it was pretty bad. Most of the fairways were decent, but a number had bare spots, brown areas, and other places which were GUR due to overwatering? Bunkers were compacted and many had casual water. Tee boxes appear to have been recently scalped, so they were brown & thin.

Played the Blue tees last Friday, got out at 10:28, paired up with Dwayne and Ben. Check in was quick and easy - hit a few to warm up on the range, it's mats only - practice greens are very quick w/a lot of slope (actually a good preview).

Overall conditions were improved compared to my last couple visits a couple years ago. Tees were mostly level with decent or better coverage, par 3's didn't have a lot of divot damage. Fairways were also decent coverage with a few bare spots (only one affected play) and a couple squishy areas from over watering. Rough was generally thick enough to alter club/shot selection but not requiring a search party to find your ball - a few thin/thick spots but fairly consistent. Greens held shots and putted pretty true at medium/fast pace, speeding up as they dried out - not as many ball marks as I remember but still way too many.

Bunkers - where to start?!? Consistency was nearly cement and badly in need of a deep raking - but don't try it yourself, most of the rakes were damaged (probably from trying to get thru the sand!). Many didn't even show footprints. By far the weakest part of the course condition-wise.

POP was a little over 4 hours, could have been much better if not for the 5-some three groups ahead.

Biggest change - the inside corner of #18 has been completely reworked, what was a huge bunker/waste area has now been converted to grass. Still not an easy play to the green but probably cut a good 5-10 minutes of the overall POP.

Recommended at a good price but the bunkers prevent me from recommending without one.

Good course, the greens are pretty nice.
The clubhouse was re-done and is great.
Hole 18 is undergoing a huge overhaul in front of the green.
Gets very busy.

First time back in a long while on 11/12/17. I have always enjoyed this course but I was extremely disappointed in course conditions today. Many bare spots in fairways and just off greens. Hard pan areas all over the golf course that appear to be as a result of long going neglect. Sand traps were hit and miss with some being almost perfect and others being like playing on concrete. Staff was courteous but I can't stress how much this place has slipped since my last visit about a year ago.
