I have not played Coronado in over ten years! The course was in it's usual good condition, which I've come to expect from Coronado. I had never played here in the afternoon, so not accustomed to all the wind! Sure made it play a lot tougher! My recollection is that some of the holes have been lengthened. (Or maybe I'm just getting too old to play from the tips, even on this modest length course???)

Walked on 7/31 (at) 530 AM but didn't tee off until 650 AM, finished right at 11 AM. Starter and Pro Shop personnel not very amicable and seemed like they were doing me a favor by letting me play. Food service lady was the same, like she should have been somewhere else, especially at the turn at 0900 with nothing made for lunch and snack bar closed she couldn't (or wouldn't) offer anything other than muffins or chips. When asked if she had any sandwiches made her reply was "thay haven't been cooked yet." (cooked?) Course was nice and green enough despite watering restrictions, though quite a few brown spots in the middle/edges of fairways and all roughs had more than enough dry spots. Pace of play was good, even with a gentleman that couldn't get his ball in the air and was easily shooting double bogie on every hole in the group. For $25 (walking)this is a great course and has a decent enough layout to make the round enjoyable and one that can't be played in autopilot. Be sure to play in the morning as the wind picks up around noon and can be a huge factor in afternoon rounds. Take water with you as there are only two water stations on the courrse but well placed to serve multiple holes.

Course is in great shape right now. Greens rolling well, fairways are excellent. $25 for this course is the best green fee value in San Diego.

Only played 12 holes on Sat. It was so slow, took 3 1/2 hrs to play these 12 holes. We waited on every shot and it seemed to be the case for all the groups I could see. I couldn't see any one group... Continue »

Only played 12 holes on Sat. It was so slow, took 3 1/2 hrs to play these 12 holes. We waited on every shot and it seemed to be the case for all the groups I could see. I couldn't see any one group slowing down play. So we quit after the 12th. Greens were in decent shape, it was a little bumpy sometimes but that was due to people not repairing their ball marks. Fairways were in great shape and there really isn't any rough here. There was a consistent wind here. For $25 though I'll be back.

There were a couple thin areas around the greens & edges of the fairways but whta can you expect for $25. Bunkers have way too much sand (they re-did most of them last year). Its always a fun round @ Nados. Good luck getting a tee time though.

As far as the course conditions nothing has changed too much since my last post. It was a bit windy today and so it made the course a little more challenging. Although I made a reservation in advance b/c I was golfing with other people today. I'm fine with the non-refundable fee which doesn't go to the greens fees but what I didn't like was the fact that once I made the time a week ago I couldn't change the time. So I had a time for 1 pm and couldn't move the start time to 1:30 without forfeiting the fee. I thought that was a little downer on the customer service side. But for a greens fee of $25 still a great deal. Finished in a little over 4 1/2 hrs and we were able to finish all 18.

Played this past Sunday. Got off within about 45 minutes after putting my name on the wait list, ended up teeing off at about 12:45. We finished just in the nick of time. The sun was actually setting as we walked down the 18th fairway. With all the rain we had it was pretty amazing that the course didn't show any affects from it. This course absorbs moisture very well. Greens were in great shape, they had some good roll to them and only a few greens did the ball bounce from divots not being repaired. Fairways were great. Rough is a little dormant but I don't think the rough here has ever been punishing. Only saw the cart girl once and the snack bar was closed when we made the turn so that was a little disappointing. For $25 this is a great deal and considering the weather here recently I'm looking forward to going back there.

Made the long trip from the Inland Empire to play Coronado yesterday with family. I had to make it a fivesome but luckily they allow it if you ride. Weather was absolutely perfect. My game... not so much. I had a 10:37 tee time but the starter got us out at 10:30. Played at a pretty good pace but the marshall kept pushing us. He does realize that we have 5 players right? I wish we didn't feel that rushed, maybe I would have played better. What was funny was after the front 9 we didn't see the group that was pushing us at all on the back 9. They must have gotten something to eat. As far as the course goes, it is a great course and the conditions were great. The layout isn't too hard but you have to keep it in the fairway to get a good score, just like any other course. The tee boxes were good, the fairways were good and the greens were great. For $41 to ride at 10:30 on a Monday, I would say that this is an excellent deal. Had a great time but I like any other day, I wish I played better. We all hit a bucket before the round and the range is pretty nice. Lots of targets to hit at and I looks like they allow you to hit off the grass, although we had to hit off the mats this morning. They also have a pretty nice practice green with bunkers to practice your short game but I didn't have time to practice on them. On an unrelated note, the bridge you have to cross to get there is pretty high and it freaked me out a little. Twas a great day had by all.
