Course is in overall good condition. Greens are fast - better than many private clubs or high-end golf courses and not near the cost. Last four holes are a blast and may be the best four finishing holes in golf when you take into consideration the views of the bay. Easy to get distracted, especially when the sun is setting in the afternoon.

The course punched the greens a week ahead and they look like the are growing in well and should be very puttable. other than the greens the course is in it's ussual good shape. I actually played 18 in just under 4 hours at twilight (2pm) which doesn't happen much.

Was able to play both days this past weekend here and it was pretty easy to get on. I waited about 45 mins on Sat. and Sun. was much shorter, got right out after a tournament. Conditions are still p... Continue »

Was able to play both days this past weekend here and it was pretty easy to get on. I waited about 45 mins on Sat. and Sun. was much shorter, got right out after a tournament. Conditions are still pretty consistent with my review last month and considering the number of courses which are having their fall maintenance this is a good place to go without sacrificing anything. Pace of play was pretty good I want to say it was about 4 hours 45 mins.

Put my name on the wait list and it took about an hour to get out. Overall conditions pretty typical of this course. Fairways are in good shape. No penalty for hitting it in the rough except around ... Continue »

No penalty for hitting it in the rough except around the greens were the grass is a little thicker. Greens were very good. Relatively smooth and decent pace but people need to fix their ball marks. I was in a trap and the sand in there was pretty soft. For $35 it is certainly the best deal in town.

Played Coronado Sunday, a very beautiful Sunday in San Diego Might I add. For a MUNI this course is great but it carries with it the issues most MUNI courses have. Waits on every hole and Brumuda grass. The course is worth it for the views and though it is a short course and its very flat, I must say it has quite a bit of hidden trouble.

drove down early morning from los angeles to coronado early saturday 6-18. Expected to be on the waiting list for couple of hours at least, but was surprised to get called in about 30 mins. I also thought the round would take around 6 hours(due to last time i played there) but finished the round in less than 4 hours. Course conditions is pretty good for a city owned golf course. Greens are smooth but alittle slow. Not the hardest layout, but a very enjoyable round with views of the bay on almost every hole. 35 dollars to walk the course on the weekend is a steal.

I played Coronado Golf Course Saturday and Sunday during an SCGA event. Even though I forgot to list it, this is one of my favorite golf courses. It is extremely busy, but it is in excellent condition considering. The greens were very smooth, but not too fast. They were firm but would still hold a short iron shot or a high trajectory mid iron shot. The fairways are great, they have lots of roll but are still lush enough. The rough is almost nonexistent. The only way to loose a ball is too put in the San Diego Bay, a water hazard, or into one of the untrimmed palm trees (this happened to one of my fellow competitors twice). The course is flat so consequently easy to walk. The greens don’t have a lot of break. The course sounds easy but there are trees, water and OB’s that can jump out and bite you real quick. Also in the afternoon there is wind and it can get fairly fierce. The great thing about the course is even if the pace is slow; there is always something to see out on the bay or the beach that makes the time go quickly. This is a great course to play and well worth the green fees of $30.00 weekdays, $35.00 weekends. It is no wonder that the men’s club at Coronado GC has a waiting list of over 200!

Played last tee time before twilight on a Saturday afternoon. Called two days ahead and that was the only available tee time. Course is definitely as advertised, beautiful views of San Diego Harbor on almost every hole. Course conditions are very good for a municipal course as well. Greens are slow but very consistent. The holes themselves are not too remarkable, but again, the atmosphere and scenery more than makes up for it. Pace of play was not too great. Finished in about 5 1/2 hours. Cart girl was around early and often. Highly recommend playing this course...not for the challenge per say, a low handicapper will score early and often here, but for the surroundings and just an all around fun time.

Got out on Saturday morning as a single. For such a nice day it didn't take too long to get out. Course is in its usual good shape. Greens were rolling pretty smooth and with good pace to them. Fairways were decent and rough is non-existent. Was in a couple of traps and one was good soft sand the other was more hard packed sand. Saw the cart girl a couple of times. For $35 this is certainly the best deal in town, if you can get on.
