Living in Carlsbad for the past 10 1/2 years and this is the first time I have played this course. What was I waiting for??? this is a course I would have no problem playing over and over again. Hospitallity A+, Conditions A+, Challenging A+, Views A+.

What a great track, lush green fairways, beautiful water features. Will be playing there in the near future for sure

This is the first review i have written for this site. I have played quite a few of the higher end courses in San Diego such as The Grand Del Mar, The Farms, San Diego Country Club etc. I found this course to be much nicer and greener than all those three. It was pretty much wall to wall turf. the greens were amazing, the fairways were like carpet and the rough if you were in it was very fair. the staff was terrific also. very welcoming and seemed happy to have us there. i know the green fee is pretty high but the $215.00 price tag might actually be worth it because this course is flawless right now. i want to thank everyone who writes reviews on here i have found it to be very helpful before i go to play different courses.

Played 6-6, always a pleasure to play Aviara. course in fantastic shape, a few sanded greens, fairways were as good as I have every played, green surfaces were fast and true, and staff, Jerry the starter, are top notch, a little pricey, but worth it to see what a real course looks like and plays like, can't wait to play again...

This course is absolutely beautiful. The pictures really do it no justice. Top notch facility from top to bottom. I've golfed all over the west coast- Hawaii to Arizona and this place is in my top 5 maybe even top 3 for sure. Greens were recently sanded however they still rolled fast and true. They pay attention to the small details on every hole that can distract you just enough with it's beauty. Every hole is a little different and the course has a ton of character. Didn't think it was as hard as the 139 slope from the blues indicated but it was certainly a tough track that plays a bit longer than the 6600. Got the round comped by La Costa resort /hotel and if I can ever find another deal here I would miss work to play. Highly recommended!!!!

My wife and I are medium to high handicappers. The course beautifully laid and landscaped...almost consistently throughout (there are some overhead power lines). Although not as hilly as the nearby Crossings, the course remains very challenging with a lot of variations in layout for each hole. Distances from the 2nd and 3rd shots in are difficult to judge. The greens are reasonably fair, in terms of slopes and size. The finishing hole is really not very exciting. The bag dropoff, the proshop and its associated elements are surprising unassuming and rather small and tight for such a prestigious and well-known golf course in southern california.

Played Friday 3/9 on Twilight rate, and had an excellent experience.

The course was in very good condition, without any areas having problems. The started warned us the greens were very fast, but we found them to be just a touch faster than medium. But they rolled very consistent and smoothly.

Carts have a new GPS system which worked well, and also had menu ordering for the snack bar.

Pace of play was pretty good in general. It seemed just slightly slow a few times, but we still pretty much played at our pace and didn't have to wait much except for #10.

Customer service at Aviara is great - the staff are all friendly and helpful, and sincerely act like they're there to help you.

I'd rate Aviara highly in the premium course segment, especially if you play at Twilight rates. Rack rates (which are almost never discounted) are a bit steep but in line with other area high-end courses (but they often have discounts available).

We played 01/03/2012 and what a way to start out the new year. I got a fantastic deal through Golfhub and was so very happy to get a chance to play Aviara. It's been a longtime since I played the course and it was as nice as I remembered it. The staff was soooo nice and helpful. The fairways were dormant and as a result, brown, but play was unaffected. The tee boxes and rough were lush and green. Greens were smooth but a little on the slow side. Overall, the course was beautiful and I enjoyed the course. I can't really afford playing here regularly so I'll be keeping my eyes open for deals.
