Jan 29th. The course was in great condition since I last played here in Oct. The fairway were overseeded and in better than average condition considering most other courses I've played this winter are dormant and thin. Greens were firm, smooth and fast. The traps had plenty of sand. Pace of play was at 4 hours, no delays. Well worth the hour+ drive from Oceanside!

Played 1-13-12 in tournament. This is such an interesting course. I have always like playing here. 95% of the greens were looking great but according to rudyclub (Tim) who played with me, there was some sort of fungus a year ago and they had to kill parts of the greens... Only 1 green showed bad damage although most were close to recovered. This course is well worth the drive and the cost to play

They just punched the green two weeks ago and they are in very poor condition, many bare spots and bumpy, probably 3 more weeks before they are "healed'. They overseeded the fairway so it was cart path only and they are still 4 weeks away from normal according to a local who played with us. T's in the same condition are the fairways. Good place to stay from for the next month.

Played 8/5/12 Course continues to be in great shape, especially for this time of year. It was in the high 90's today. Fairway's are 95% green & lush. There are some hard pan/thin areas in the rough near the fairway perimeters. Most of the T box's are in good/fair shape. With a couple that are pretty chewed up, but they didn't cause any issues. The greens are in good/ great shape. The greens here are almost always on the slow side, but today were slightly faster to about a medium speed. Traps like most San Diego courses are thin and hard. But hey... they're hazards right ??? Pace of play was decent for a weekend. It can get a little slow out here on the weekends, but today wasn't bad. Course still has some of the best conditions in San Diego.

Played here for the first time this afternoon and very much enjoyed the course. I had a GolfNow "hot deal" time at 12:32 for only $32 and it was worth every penny. I got there way early and it wasn't too busy, so they let me go out by myself around 11:45. I was stuck behind a very slow elderly couple. Another single caught up to me on the third tee and we joined up. He was a local and member, so he knew a lot about the property and was helpful. That elderly couple then joined up with another twosome in front of them and they formed the SLOWEST foursome I've ever seen. I know they all joined up to be courteous, but it didn't pan out for anyone. They eventually let us pass at the turn, which was nice. We did run into other groups on the back, but it seemed to go quicker. All in all, the round took about 4 hours, so still not bad overall.

The weather was perfect here and not nearly as hot as I would have expected. Nice breeze blowing all afternoon and it's a nice peaceful course environment as part of the San Vicente Resort and community. Though this course is near Mt. Woodson (in case those of you who played at the GK Event need a reference point), it's vastly different. Much flatter and wide open, but still plenty of challenges, a few tight shots and a few good elevation changes. Similar mountain scenery surrounds the course, though, so that's nice.

Overall, I really enjoyed the course layout and the conditions were very nice. The fairways were green and lush, with only a few dry/dead patches here and there. Nothing that affected play much. Rough was pretty consistent. Not too deep, but enough to make you work. The greens were pretty soft and very nice. A tad bit slow, but the guy I played with explained that they keep the greens a little longer in the summer here to combat the heat. It keeps them nice and green, and the cuts were consistent so once you figured out the speed you knew exactly what to expect from hole to hole. Tee boxes were decent, though a few were a little uneven. I hit into a couple of bunkers and they were a little thin. However, most bunkers here don't have very big lips, so easy to get out of even with thinner lies.

It was a great day on a very nice course, so I have no complaints at all. It was also a great deal, so I am glad I ventured all the way out there (and I do mean "out there," as in another 15 minutes past Woodson). Given the poor conditions of Woodson right now, San Vicente is probably a much better choice if you are in the Ramona area this summer (even though I still prefer the more dramatic, fun and challenging Woodson layout if conditions were equal).

Really enjoyed playing here on 5/7. The course is in excellent condition. Lush fairway, smooth firm greens and plenty of sand in the traps. Pace is play was a little slow, right around 5 hours. That could be because the rough was a little high and it was hard to find your golf ball but if you stay in the fairway, no problem! Really worth the drive there.

Played 2/24/12. The course is in fantastic shape. The best I have seen in a while and this course is almost always one of the best in San Diego for conditions. The fairways are lush and just a blast to hit off. The greens have picked up some pace from where they have been on the slow side and were rolling true. There are 2 or 3 greens that had some minor rough spots and one that still has some damage, but over all they are in great shape. They recently added some sand to the traps and are soft. They are continuing to make some other improvements to the course. If you have never played this course or have not been out in a while, it's worth a trip out. I'm reluctant to write that, because I want it more for myself.
