This course for the last 2 to 3 years has been one of the best maintained courses around. But this summer they are suffering a little. It seems thay have really cut back on the watering. Like most GC they are most likely getting hit by the economy. Still a fun course and if can get a good deal well worth it.

I played San Vicente today 7/21/11. As always I really enjoy this course. The greens were good. They were a bit softer than they have been in the past and they weren't rolling as fast but the ball rolled true. The rest of the course conditions were pretty good also. There were some bare spots in some of the fairways but nothing I would complain about. They are running a really nice special right now. We played for $32 and that included a breakfast sandwich. Its a bit of a drive to get to the course but I always rave about the course layout after I play there. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

This course was in amazing condition. The Greens were excellent. I can't wait to play at this course again. It had the right amount of challenges and just an overall good track.

Very fun round...also the lowest score I've ever posted. Pace of play felt very slow, but the round ended up being just a little over 4 hours (not bad). Bunkers were pretty hard and packed. Now for the good: everything was very green and lush. Greens and fairways were well maintained except for a few bald spots on two greens and one fairway under repair. Didn't inhibit the round at all. Good deal at 11am. Out of the way, but very fun and relaxing day.

We took the advise of Addictedtugolf and did a stay and play package for 2 on 2/13/11. Price up by $11 and they now charge $130 for one night stay plus golf for 2 people. Seems the course is owned/managed by the local homeowners association and noticed nearby timeshare owners only pay cart fees to play so it was rather busy on Sunday. Course itself is a traditional course with mature trees, some water. We liked the layout as each hole offered differnt look than prior. Overall conditon of the course was rather dry so we had a lot of roll on the fairways. Noted greens were good as the roll was true. However, it was hard to get my well struck pitching wedge to stay on the green as my balls had difficulty spinning back on a very dry and hard greens.
Enjoyable outing overall.

Played San Vicente today for the first time. I don't know why I haven't gone here to play more. The course was much better than I had anticipated. The greens were firm and fast! It is a very traditional course which isn't too long and the greens slope from back to front. There was more water than I thought would be out there also plus you have to place the ball in the right spots. I found a great deal to play there on ilovegolfdeals.com and it was well worth it! I'm really looking forward to going back there. I hope you enjoy it as much as me!

Very Traditional golf course, very playable for most people, some holes have elevated tee boxes & greens. Some golf holes you must be able to work the ball left to right and right to left, make sure you layup to correct yardages to avoid taking extra strokes. The greens are generally small in size with simple RED / WHITE / GOLD flag positions.

During the summer, the trenches are DRY which are marked by YELLOW stakes in front of some greens allows you to play out of them without being penalized. I plan to upload recent pictures taken July 17th 2010.

The GREENS are in the BEST shape! They are soft, smooth appear to be slow but can be very quick! We noticed the greens do get watered during the day for about 2 minute intervals which helps keep them from getting to fast! The bunkers seemed to be a consistent texture.

I $pent $1.00 on a simple yardage book available in the Pro shop when you check in.
During my first round, I simply noted yardages of where I should layup to and to avoid trouble. (EX: Hole #8 the 60 yard marker will keep me away from trouble if I decide to layup)

We had our GPS units with us which worked perfectly, there are PLENTY of yardage markings on the course. Most sprinkler heads are marked, all tee boxes are marked correctly as well as the fairways 200 / 150 / 100 / 75 / 50 yard markers.

We played our first round on Thursday in just under 4 hours. I was still able to make notes on the yardage book as we played.

Unfortunately, we decided to play our SECOND round of golf on Saturday! There were TWO different small group tournaments ahead of us which made for a long day! 5 1/2 hours! ouch...

Overall the course was in very good condition! You may see some areas that need a little TLC. One other little note, you could hear the people having a good time at the pool (Similar to the movie Caddyshack on Caddie Day) on holes #1,#4, #5 and #9.

We took advantage of the current "Stay & Play" package, btw, the rooms face the golf course off of hole #10. The package included TWO rounds of golf & cart included per day, $4.00 food voucher CREDIT per person per day to use at the on site Restaurant which can be used for either Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, room taxes etc included! NO HIDDEN FEES AT CHECKOUT for just $119 (Sun thru Thur) and $129 (Fri thru Sat) and that is NOT per person! We opted for the TWO queen beds which had TWO separate bathroom sinks, coffee maker and a small refrigerator to keep our drinks cold even though we traveled with a cooler. This INN is really for golfers ONLY! Not much to do other than eat & layout by the pool... We'll be back for sure!

With the greens recently punched, they were SLOWWWWWW! And no one seemed to care to repair their divots because of that. The course always presents a challenge for the high handicapper, but it's easy to to shot around 100 with well placed drives and smart play out of the rough. Teed off at 0620 and had senior players in front of us for the first 3 holes, then we were caught by a threesome on nine and after letting them through on 10, we had no one to worry about the rest of the round. Always a chance of a fog delay or frost delay (mid - late winter), but still worth getting there early.
