Played today, greens were hard as a rock. Fairways were nice a litle brown not to bad. usual crowd, tee boxes a little crooked. Still had fun and always worth 45 bucks on Tuesday. Played canyon and ranch only problem was hole 2 on ranch they had a tractor punching the fairway.....

Ranch/Meadow was horrible. Not one drink cart girl on the whole course on Saturday. We were told greens were not bumpy, could not have been more bumpy. The course from when I played it 9 years ago looks like it has fell on hard times. The 4.5 stars is bogus, I think it used to be, but it is a 3 star.

The greens are in excellent shape on the Ranch and Canyon nines. There is some water problem on Ranch #1, so it is temporarily playing as a par 3 (although it seemed like they could have simply roped off the area under repair).

They just punched and sanded the greens on the Meadow nine. The greens on the other two nines are as good as I've ever seen them. Usually they punch and sand in rotating fashion, so I suspect that either the Canyon or Ranch nines will soon be punched and sanded as well.

Pace of play was excellent.

My wife and I played Steele Canyon on New Year's Eve. The reviews are always really good and so we were looking forward to the course. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed overall. The pro shop desk clerk was not pleasant at all and the driving range was poor for a "ranked" club. On the first hole (11:00am) we found that the foursome ahead was incredibly slow, as we had to wait AT THE TEE for them to tee off. This continued for about six holes before the beer cart girl called the marshall for us.
Yes, there are some stunning elevated tee boxes, but you'd better bring a GPS device or yardage book. Some parts of the course seemed like the maintenance had been let go for some time. The greens were the only thing about Steele Canyon that I did appreciate as they were relatively receptive, well-shaped, and consistently fast.
For the money, not worth it, even on a special. MANY better values within an hour's drive.

Played the Ranch-Meadow combo. The greens were excellent! The rest of the course was in above-average condition.

The fairways were dry, which makes me wonder what they will be like during the middle of summer.

The rest of the course (bunkers, tee boxes, rough) was in above-average condition.

Played here for the first time in a tournament (played the canyon and ranch 9's) on 5/27 and was very impressed, this is easily one of the best courses in so cal. The course conditions are absolutely perfect at the moment. This is not, however, an easy golf course. The greens according to starter are running at an 11 (tour speed), and he was definitely right. Make sure you hit some putts on the practice greens to get used to speed. All approach shots, even wedges, need to be landed short of the flag otherwise you will face some very long, fast putts. The course layout is very scenic, with lots of elevated tees and sloping fairways. In short, this course is a great challenge with perfect conditions and is very enoyable, if you haven't played here do so!
