A nice course. They punched the greens a few weeks earlier but rolled true. There are lots of holes with ob on the right so left and straight is good. Fairways were spectacular! nice and fluffy lies. Rough not to penalizing at all. Played early with good pace under 4 hours.

I would never play here unless I have a special rate. It is a decent course with some nice water holes. BUt ovrall not a very challenging course. Just hit it straight on the first 4 holes and avoid... Continue »

Just hit it straight on the first 4 holes and avoid the water elsewhere and you are fine. The starter and superintendent, yes, superintendent had bad attitudes. I won't get into it here but basically if you are single wanting to play early in the morning you may feel unwelcomed.

Played on Saturday 12/15 club tournament. The course was in very good shape, but some of the rough was beginning to go dormant in some areas. Originally was supposed to start our groups at 8 AM but due to frost we started out at 9:15. Tee boxes were fairly level, not many divots. The fairways were green, had decent roll. The greens were fast, many are double tiered, some held the shots others the ball rolled off. This was especially true if you hit a long iron or a wood. The bunkers were hard packed and had mostly dirt with some sand. The rough was about 2 inches long, moderate to easy for hitting out. We finished in just over 4 hours. Marshals kept our groups moving along, some needed it, the cart girl came around about every 4 holes. Coffee shop (if you can call it that), had food that was already prepared, they just nuked it, especially our brkfst sandwiches. I would rate the course 6.5 to maybe a 7.

Was lucky enough to get out on Wednesday afternoon in a twosome, but was stuck behind a slow foursome that was scattering balls all over the course. Got around in about 4.5 hours. The course is a mix of shortish par 4s and longish par 3s. If you have your mid- and long-irons working on the par 3s, you can really come out with a great score. Although the bunkers looked packed down, they actually had some sand in there once you were actually in them. Greens rolled fairly true, just getting a bit (understandably) spiked up by the end of the day. Cart girl never seemed to make it out to us, although we saw her driving on a couple of other holes. Service was otherwise fairly pleasant. Nice course, will hopefully be playing more.

Usually when you tee off at 8:16 on a Saturday, you can expect to play in 4.5 hours or less. Not today. For some reason it was really slow, but the course is in pretty good shape. Tee boxes are fine, fairways decent except for a few bare spots, but the greens are amazing - very receptive to good shots, very true, not that slow, etc. Some bunkers were fluffy, some were soaked, but that's par for a JC course. Overall not a bad day at Twin Oaks, despite the heat.

Good layout first few holes kinda tight course conditions were winter like as there was no overseeding. Greens generally putted good and speed was good. The day we played they must have had a one eyed man setting hole locations as several were more than unreasonable. Fairway bunkers were hardpan and had no sand (at least the one I did get into). Although conditions were less than desirable it was an enjoyable track. would like to visit again when conditions were better.

Great course, has a bit of everything. Rewards shots in the fairways, lots of slope if you don't.

Played Twin Oaks on Sunday, 10/8, for $35 with a JC Resorts special offer. They punched half the greens a few weeks ago, they're recovering nicely. Putts are pretty true for the most part. Fairways are OK, rough is a little thin, bunkers just need more sand and they'd be fine. Pace was good for a Sunday. Saw the bev cart about 3-4 times - overall not a bad day at Twin Oaks. Just wish JC would figure out a way to maintain all of their courses a little better...

I've played Twin Oaks when it's been in better shape than right now, but it's waaay better than Arrowood and Encinitas Ranch at the moment. Fairways are a little thin; bunkers have really wet sand/dirt; greens are inconsistent ... some firm, some soft ... but they roll pretty true. Overall not a bad value, but JC Resorts needs to either dump its pace-of-play program or enforce it. We played behind a four-some that was so slow (chorus - "how slow was it?"), one of the two-somes LEFT the other two-some behind because they were taking so long. Hot and muggy day, but the golf wasn't too bad for a holiday Sunday.
