Played Sunday 05/24 at 0830. I wasn't expecting much based on prior reviews, but I'll say I was pleasantly surprised. The course is a lot greener and more lush than previous reviews. Tee boxes were excellent. I could tell they've been recently renovated and they look great. The fairways are above average and were green with good coverage. The rough was decent and playable in most areas. The sand traps and bunkers had good quality sand from my experience, and the greens were fair. They seem to be healing well from maybe a recent aeration a month ago?

The course is a little gimmicky at times with some short sharp dog legs that force a 170 yard tee shot that leaves a 200 yard approach, but all in all enjoyable. Staff was great and the practice/warm up area is quite nice.

Played Sunday 03/08 with wife around 10am, POP was just shy of 5 hours. Did have to wait here and there on the group in front of us. Course is in the best condition if I have seen it since we first played it early in 2014. 1st hole tee box is going through is being completely renovated so they have moved a make shift tee box up forward. Should look very impressive upon completion. Fairways were mostly lush, a few thin lies. Bunkers were 50/50 from what I could gather. Greens were tricky and the ball didn't exactly roll true all the time. Rough was long and thick and a little punishing if you happened to find it. Didn't see a cart service the entire round (thought that was odd).

19th hole is still one of my favorites, sit out afterwards and enjoy a cold one and some food while watching folks on the range and approaching 18.

Dricket and Rstang (Donna and Willie) met us at the 19th and we enjoyed a couple of hours of catching up and visiting....very nice.

Have not played here in over 25 years. I had very little recollection of this course. I do remember that it was nothing special or memorable. (Otherwise it would not have a quarter century since I last played here) While there was nothing wrong with the course, it just isn't special and really has no memorable holes to speak of. (I liked #13, the par three, which from the tips offers a somewhat blind shot over the side of a hillside, similar to a hole at DeBell, except this time the left side of the green is visible)

Condition was not all that great. many of the tee boxes were really beat up, in some instances almost no turf at all. Fairways shaggy in places and lots of wet areas and places under repair. Greens were the best part of the course, decent but not great.

I can say that the staff was great ! But I must confess it will probably be at least 25 years before I return again. (Which I will most likely do in the form of ghost or spirit, because I suspect by then I'll be looking up at the divots rather than down at them.

Another mixed bag of feelings out at St. Mark. Greens were in better shape and rolled very true and fairly fast. They also held shots very well, so the greens are definitely getting better, which was nice. That's about the end of the above average conditions on the course, well, the sand traps seemed good, I was in one and it was very nice. However, the rest of the course conditions are pretty suspect. The tee boxes were pretty bad, unlevel with spotty grass. The rough was very soggy, as usual for this place, and somewhat unfair around the greens, very "clumpy". And once again POP was depolorable! What a joke, I won't be back for a while because of this reason. Over 5.5 hours on a Monday? C'mon. Front nine was 3 hours alone, I just can't deal with that and won't deal with it for a while. I used a free round which I won on a par 3 contest they have out there on the weekends, so can't complain about the value, but I wouldn't pay much more than $30 right now to play out there.

I only eat about 2 or 3 hot dogs a year so I am by no means a hot dog connoisseur, but the dogs here are great. The nice lady that runs the snack bar had the outdoor bbq going before we teed off. I took a mental note and decided I would get a dog at the turn if I was hungry. She grills the buns, the dogs were tasty and juicy. They have mustard and ketchup in bottles, as well as onions and relish available so it was nice not to have to try to squeeze that stuff out of those messy little packets. That was the highlight of my round.

The course has improved a bit from the last time I played it a year ago. The bunkers have been re-done and are in top notch shape. The greens were pretty fast, a few of the greens had some disease with some bare spots to deal with. Fairways and tee boxes were average with a few bare spots, rough was uneven.

Overall, a decent track and challenging but in poor to fair shape. The value is decent though. Pace was slow 4:45. Don't forget to save room for a hot dog at the turn

Played Saturday, and it was super super wet and soggy after the recent rains last week. Cart path only, which didn't help the abyssmal slow rate. Over 5.5 hours to play, C'mon man, Marshal knew about it, but kinda said "oh, well. Nothing we can do about it..." Just took all your patience to maintain composure, because after waiting sometimes 20 mins on most tee boxes, you were destined to hit poor shots. We used a $39 dollar rate on their website for online booking and I had a free round that I won last time I was out there, so my buddy and I each paid $20, which was fine.

Greens were soft and receptive, but hit and miss on the condition, most of them had a little disease going through them and they were bumpy and putts went offline. Tee boxes were in pretty good shape, fairly level with nice grass. Fairways were a little above average, apart from being soaked. Rough was super high and penalizing in most spots, stay out of it. They will probably mow the rough in a couple days after it dries out a little.

Staff was all good and nice, especially the guys at the promo par 3s, they make things fun and pour nice drinks. Thanks, I think the one guy is named Taylor on hole 11, and he is always super nice.

Overall, I like the course, just wish it didn't play so slow, and they need to fix the disease on the greens.

played sat. 11/29/14 and had a good time. I used a free round coupon that I won when I hit the green on the par 3 11th hole, really fun and cool idea. Back in June when we played, they had a promo guy on the tee box, enter for $5 and we received a beer if everyone in the group entered the promo, then it was a free round if you got it on the green and hole in one was a new VW Beetle, pretty awesome, so we did it and I hit the green and grabbed a free round which I used today with no hassle or bad looks from the pro shop, which was nice because sometimes at other courses when you use coupons or promos the guys in the pro shop give you a stink eye and treat you like dirt. Not today, I showed up, gave the guy my coupon and he said great and enjoy your round.

As for the course, it is continually getting a little better every time I get out there. Still needs some improvements, but they are trying their best and it shows. Fairways were cut pretty thin on most holes. Some holes were very soggy, some very dry. There seems to be a mixture of different grasses throughout the course, so you never know what kind of roll you are going to get on your drives, but I usually had a good lie in the fairway, with minimal divot damage. Teeboxes were a mixed bag, a little shaggy, but level. Bunkers were nice, I found 2 and they both had nice sand, not too fluffy and not hard pan. Greens were not in the greatest of shapes, most had lots of bad patches on them, but they kept the pin placements away from the crappy parts of the greens, nobody in our group could make any putts today, probably because we suck at putting, but the shoddy greens didn't help our cause much. Overall, condition was playable and not a huge issue, but I wouldn't pay over $40 on the weekend to play here.

Customer service was excellent! They had the par 3 promo going on again today, it was a little different, but still a blast, AWESOME! Hole number 6, Chris was the employee attendant an he was super nice, $5 entry, gave us all a cocktail(very tasty "John Daly") and if you hit the green, you got a free round good Mon-Thur. I collected, no problem, 160yds. Got my free round card, super sweet. Get a hole in one and you get free golf for a year! Then on hole 11, Trevor was the employee attendant, equally nice, this time $10 entry, hit the green for a free round anyday, hole in one for a VW Beetle. Once again, same distance, same result, got my free round. Awesome and fun promotion, hope they keep it up. Get out there and enjoy it.

I teed it up at St. Mark's on Sunday, 11/16 precisely at 11 AM. I got a deal on GolfNow for $31 which was great. I think they are offering the added 35% off because their greens were punched a few weeks ago and definitely need a little more time to heal.

I'm a big fan of what the new ownership is doing at St. Marks. While the course is still definitely a work in progress, it really has made some major improvements, and when the greens heal fully, I think you're going to have a great place to play golf.

I'm growing more fond of the layout of the course the more I play it, as I think it offers a solid test for better golfers yet would be more than fair for someone who is a beginner or higher handicap.

I've always felt the service out here was really good. People are courteous and really try their best to create an enjoyable day. In fact, I made the mistake of forgetting my shoes at home so they let me play in flip-flops. I don't recommend doing that (I actually hit my shots barefooted after my opening tee shot), but I thought that was better than making me buy shoes or miss my time.

One thing that I LOVED about St. Marks is that they do a running contest (at least on the weekends) on two par 3's, one on the front and one on the back. For $5 you get to take a shot at a hole-in-one to win a car or year membership. The cool thing is, just for playing you get a cocktail (a John Daly) or a beer and if you only hit the green you get a free round. These kind of fun promotions are what the game needs more of in my opinion, so I'm glad to see them trying different things to increase the entertainment value.

As of now the greens are still a bit bumpy, but for $30 on the weekend I felt I got a great value. The rest of the course was in really solid shape and in all honesty, the greens were more than playable.

If you get really uptight about playing on perfect greens, I'd wait another month to play, but if you want to get out and have a good time at a great value, St. Marks wouldn't be a bad choice.

Played today at around noon. Course conditions were improved since my last trip out here.

Bunkers were in awesome condition....good sand, and for the most part raked nicely.

Greens were in nice average condition, minimal ball marks. on the back 9 you will find some greens with just crazy breaks and run outs.

Fairways were mostly lush with some thin areas around, some GUR areas that were marked....not too bad.

Rough was thick but not too long...so not overly punished if you hit into it.

POP was only about 3.5 hours for me today as a single and I got to play a lot of extra shots and work on my short game and bunker play just to keep a gap between me and the 4some in front of me. 2-3 hole distance between me and the 2some behind me.

Didn't see a cart person out there, but carts have coolers and you can get it filled up with drinks pretty easily.

Good mid week golf experience.
