Early off and finished in under four hours. The staff was great as usual. The pro shop here in very nice for being as small as it is. The carts are very nice as well but no gps. The tee boxes were very shaggy and a few were thin and damp. The rough is fairly short on most holes but is the dreaded kikuyu. The fairways have good coverage but were quite a bit thinner and very damp/muddy in various places front and back today. The bunkers were damp but well groomed and raked to allow for decent lies. Nice to see a course provide enough rakes in the traps to encourage those in them to rake them. The greens were done a couple weeks ago and the front nine was still a bit bumpy and needs another week to recover. The back nine greens were in good shape with the exception of a couple that still needed another week as well. The bar/restaurant here has great food and is reasonably priced. The Sunday morning patio entertainment was excellent as well. Always recommended.

Early Sunday morning round in under four hours. Surprisingly was not very busy last weekend. The staff is always professional and helpful. The tee boxes were in very good shape with a couple of the par three holes being a little beat up. The fairways have really good coverage with a few thin places on a few of the holes but were marked well. The rough is very frustrating to play from since it is thick deep kikuyu. The traps were well maintained with a few being slightly thin and/or damp. The greens are in great shape with hardly any ball marks. The grounds crew was watering them during the round which made for some slow greens on several holes - that was a bit disappointing but understandable with the heat. The carts are very comfortable and large enough for two humans. The practice facilities are also nice but do get busy as the morning goes. Definitely recommended.

Second off at 7:08am. The first group claimed they would finish in 2 1/2 hours, and true to their word, they did ! Staff was great, allowed us to play as a twosome, which was appreciated.

Second off at 7:08am. The first group claimed they would finish in 2 1/2 hours, and true to their word, they did ! Staff was great, allowed us to play as a twosome, which was appreciated.

I rarely play this course, so not sure what to expect as my recollection was not to keen as to details. The course was in very good overall condition. Greens smooth, but not as quick as I prefer. Fairways were lush and provided very little roll, so the course played longer than its yardage. Tee boxes, bunkers, all in nice shape.

I am not a huge fan of this course. Nothing wrong with it, just is not particularly exciting. Despite a misty overcast morning, in part due to the excellent pace of play and the willingness and friendly staff, it was an enjoyable round of golf.

I’m on vacation in Carlsbad and made the short drive over to San Marcos to play St. Mark. I played here last year and really like the course.
Some play was going on but not crowded. Two singles joined us. Pace was right around 4.5 hours.
Conditions overall were great. The fairways gave nice lies although the course had numerous wet spots and bare spots throughout. The rough was a challenge but not so thick and long to be unplayable. The bunkers were nice and had ample sand. The tee boxes were inconsistent. Two were placed on a slope with plenty of space on the box for a better placement.
I felt the greens were awesome. They were very receptive in full shots and chips. They were a pleasure to putt on.
Overall, I feel this course is fun and challenging enough without beating you up.

Early off in cool overcast weather and finished in about four hours. The staff is always fantastic and welcoming every time here. The driving range and practice greens are always in great shape and busy. The tee boxes were a bit thin and beat up but playable and most were fairly level. The fairways were all in pretty good shape with a few bare spots marked as gur. The kikuyu grass is tight enough to give you a good lie on almost every shot. The rough was in okay shape consisting of longer thinner mix but playable. The bunkers were all well groomed but extremely damp and/or wet. The moisture made shots from it difficult for some but I found it to be acceptable. The greens were in real good shape showing a little bit from the maintenance but held shots well with very few marks to be found. The greens rolled pretty quick for a cool damp day and held lines good. There are several greens with break that is hard to see for some golfers. The water features, dog legs, sloped fairways, sloped greens and a 600 yard plus dog leg par five make for a somewhat challenging but enjoyable round. Definitely recommended especially with the rates and deals. Great comfortable carts but no gps.

Finished in under fours hours this morning on a pretty well conditioned course. The staff is top notch. The tee boxes were mostly level but a few were thin and damp. The fairways have very good coverage with a mixture of grasses with kikuyu being the dominant type lately. The rough is almost all kikuyu and you'll find thin dry areas and thick damp places from hole to hole. The traps were a little damp still but were in great shape and well groomed! The greens have filled in very nicely since the maintenance last month. The greens have excellent coverage with very few marks. Most greens were somewhat slower than my previous rounds here but in great shape. The course is very narrow with homes along most fairways with a few water holes mixed. The place is always busy and is fun and challenging as well with very reasonable rates. Always recommended.

Played last Sunday am in right about four hours. They were running behind about fifteen minutes but the great weather made the wait okay. The staff is great from the pro shop to the cart barn (they have nice carts). The tee boxes were mostly level but many were shaggy, thin and almost concrete. The fairways were in pretty good shape with quite a bit of new kikuyu covering a lot of real estate. The kikuyu was very thick and dry in some places but for the most part was playable. The rough where is existed was mostly just longer kikuyu and helped slow off line shots. The traps had enough sand in them but were in desperate need of maintenance around the edges. The greens had been punched earlier in the week and were still not in real good shape. Most greens were covered with wet sand on the front nine and dryer sand on the back nine. They rolled very slow but picked up speed as the weather dried them out. I would estimate about three weeks before they are back to the excellent condition we have found them in before. The rates were discounted about 50% which was a good deal.

Booked a pre-paid tee time via GolfNow for $30 +fee at 12:44pm. We were a group of singles, all booked through the same GN deal. The friendly guy in the pro shop let us each have our own zippy new cart, which was cool. They were very comfy, but no GPS system. We weren't waiting on anyone, and by the time we finished just under 4 hours later, the group behind us was over a hole back.

My first time here, and sadly was fairly disappointed with the poor quality of the greens. Inconsistent growth/burnt areas were very visible on every one, and putting was very bumpy throughout the day. Not what I was expecting.

Also, looks like they were verticut a week or so ago, and the 'healing' is not clean and did also affect putts, but that a minor contributor to the overall bumpiness. They may as well just punch the d%mn things now instead of waiting 10 more days...

Bunkers were visually the very best part of the course, and it wasn't even close. I rated them an 8. Was in one, and the sand was indeed very nice to hit from. Darker sand, but a shallow layer of fluff over a medium-firm base and very well cared for.

Tees were mostly level, but were well-worn, and fairways were mostly fair with OK coverage, with 50% chance of a good lie. Rough was long and grabby around some greens and could be deadly to hit from.

Decent layout overall, some quirks, but the course does provide a number of good, challenging holes. Sad the greens were not in better condition. As I don't live in the area, would not expect to make a return visit any time soon. If I lived in the community, would probably try to play a few times a year just to mix things up. Nice bar/restaurant and patio area for after the round.
