This course needs a make over. Most of the greens have major divots. Some of the club house staff have attitudes. They act like they are doing you a favor to play there. They need to show the customers some respect. They raised the jr rates from $9 to $12 River Ridge in Oxnard charges $6. I think they need to look hard at the way they run there golf course.

Played Sunday 8/27 mid-day. Ricogo is right on target with conditions. Talked to Marshall about greens and he indicated that the high heat and humidity from summer may have contributed to problems. Very strange - hole 1 green was the worst, about 1/3 of the greens were acceptable, others in various stages of problems. Still a fun course. Food at grill was good, tri-tip sandwitch was a killer.

Played BVMGC Aug 19th-20th; out early both days. From tee to green, the course is completely recovered from the lows that it hit from too-early use + overplay. Time to let that go and compare to other standard issue Munis in the area - the course is in good shape in that way. Fairways yield a perky lie and the rough is very fair. Sand remains good [although you’ll find wet spots in the early AM] and the tee boxes are fine.
The greens are a different story. I do not know what it will take to get the greens to run true - even speed and straight.
The speed will literally change from green to green, with the same exposure. Lines will not hold - regardless of undulation. By comparison, River Ridge runs pure. Buena greens are just bumpy and unpredictable. Maybe this will always be the nature of the course. Regardless, I had fun playing and will continue to play there probably to challenge myself to figure out how to putt those $%@@! greens…

played late this afternoon(7/29), greens were in the worst shape that I have seen them, lots of brown spots and slow. Come on people replace your divots, Ground crews need to sand them, cut them and for sure water them. Fairways were in good shape. Played a 4 hour 40 minute round for twilight.

Played there on July 24th - it was an ok course with narrow fairways and trees - but it was very crowded - lots of waiting around.

Played afternoon of July 11th. Went out as a single at 3:00PM and finished up at 6:30. First time back in a 9 months or so. Marshall did a great job of moving players along. Nice shot makers course with a couple of long par 4's (with the wind) thrown in to make it interesting.

They seem to be getting a handle on the new grass. Few brown or worn areas in fairways, but they have them marked off and are working them. Bunkers are in great shape, thick heavy sand. Greens are long and slow, but putt true. Generally good shape but they appear to be trying to figure out the right combination of water and length so they hold up under play. Greens are undulated like Rustic but with the slower speed they don't not break as much and on approach shots the ball does not release like courses with faster greens. I was also leaving the ball on the "high side" - just need get used to them. You also need to really rap long puts to get them to the hole.

Overall a good experience, nice track, different than others in the area and worth coming out. Easy to walk and the new lay-out helps keep the pace of play even.

Course plays tough for a short course, very tough greens. Back pin on #12 very tough. Back nine alot tougher than front. Nice staff inside pro shop.
