The course now has more character due to its large shapely greens. Pins can be in nasty and easy spots on most of the greens. The in-course OB needs to have a black tip on them to ease the confusion. Greens are recovering nicely from the recent aerification. This course has 1 very long par 3,4, and 5. But at 6054 yards, the other 15 holes are medium to very short in length.

Greens have recovered completely from aerification. There was no evidence that they had been recently aerated. So much so that I even wonder if it was really done when they said they were planning to do it.

The course is in average shape. The greens are a bit shaggy and bumpy, the fairways are similarly average. Rough is extremely thick and lush in spots.

We played at 2:30 on a Saturday and finished our round in approximately 5:10 - a slow day for sure.

Out on the 18th and 10th twight both days. Usually play early AM so the conditions different than accustomed to.
Shaggier greens held better and slower than usual.

Been fairly critical of this course [played it fairly consistently over the past year] making expectations much lower. Based on that reduced scale, BV is in pretty good shape- here is the best tip I can give: play the course just after a rain- BV might be the type of course that benefits more than usual. The rainfall seemed to drive the salt back into the soil leaving the beautiful Rye fairways perky and really fun to hit off. If dry conditions prevail BV might never be able to water the course enough to prevent erosion. Rain coming this weekend? Try to get out to this course ASAP and enjoy the conditions more reflective of when the course first re-opened.

I haven't given up hope that the maintenance crew will get this course in tip top shape. Fellow golfers if you play this course please repair your divots on the greens. Go BEARS!

The greens are great with many tiers, the bunkers have great soft sand in them, but the fairways are a mess, i advise playing winter rules, and a couple of holes on the course have signs that say so. Even though the course is short the doglegs make up for the lack of length and the wind factor makes it a notch tougher. Overall, a fun little course.

Just played this morning(Sat28th). What a contrast. Greens were in the best shape that I have ever seen them, rolling true and fast. Held shots pretty well also.

Just played this morning(Sat28th). What a contrast. Greens were in the best shape that I have ever seen them, rolling true and fast. Held shots pretty well also.

But man there are alot of wet spots out on those fairways, hit a couple of bombs today got up to my ball with wedges, hit the ground just under the ball and the ball would go nowhere. Fairways at this time almost make you feel that you have to pick the ball clean. The fairways need major work. Played behind a tournament this morning and it took us 5 hours to finish.

Played October 19th TW. Disagree with the last post. The course is a mess – and at the club meeting afterward this fact was universally accepted as ‘the course has some issues and is being worked on’. The biggest issue is the fairways and first cut. 1-6-8-10-12-13-15-16 – guess that’s over ½ the fairways - have large areas that are either roped off or circled due to non existent grass. If you’re going to play BV you might consider winter rules through the green – it’ll help your enjoyment on the course.
Tee boxes have deteriorated somewhat and several were sanded.
Greens have smoothed out a bit from aeration and held a bit better than usual.
There has been a lot of second guessing and speculation about the decisions that were made revolving around the fairway grass type and water used to maintain. I can only hope the contractor does not make the same [apparent] mistakes on Olivas….
