Have not played here since January 1998. Did not have much recollection of the course, so it was like playing a brand new course. Enjoyed the round, but sure could have used some local knowledge. Despite that, was able to post a decent score. Played the tips, which was really the correct tee for me on this course, except for #1 which I had no chance of reaching in regulation. Course overall was in decent condition, with the exception of the tee boxes. They are totally beat up ! Severe divot and bare areas. They really need new sod. Greens were not as fast as I prefer, but otherwise no complaints. Pace wasn't too bad considering I teed off at 10:30 and finished in just over 4 hours. Staff was freindly and accomodating. I enjoyed the course, but it's a long way from home, so doubt I'll be back soon

Course was in great shape and pace of play was excellent. Due to morning fog made it very difficult to see where to hit. When we finished the round the starter allowed us to replay the holes that were played in the fog - great customer service. Look for discounts as course is not worth the rack rate although a bargin compared to sandpiper. Not long but a good challenge and wonderful views

Visited SB again this week and played both Sandpiper and Glen Annie...previous review a few weeks back may have been too harsh.

Consider that Sandpiper was $180 today and Glen Annie was $54, without any on-line discounts (lots out there) means that we can play Glen Annie, almost across the street from Sandpiper, for at least three, almost four times for the same money as Sandpiper...granted the layout is NOT Sandpiper, nor is the location, but dollar for dollar I would say the conditions were almost as good as Sandpiper and the greens were actually markedly better at Glen Annie.

Great location, amazing views, compact layout with lots of opposing fairways. Worth the occasional visit unless you are local.

Pretty reasonable conditions with the possible exception of the tee boxes...there is not a level spot to be found on any tee and the traps, mostly just raked dirt.

If you can find a discounted time on-line great but at rack rates...no thanks.

Course was in typical GA shape. Fairways were sort of brown but still played nicely. The greens were medium speed and decently smooth. Glen Annie is over priced for the course conditions but it is my go to course during the school year because of its proximity to UCSB.

Front nine is much better IMO, holes 1, 2, 5, 7, & 9 are fun and challenging holes. However, there are a few holes that flat out suck (14, 15). 14 is my least favorite hole in recent memory, I've played it 15-20 times and still can't figure out who would design a double dog log, double blind shot par 5 (I've eagled it and still hate it)

Anyways, GA does have a few nice views of the pacific and Channel Islands. Enjoy.

Almost my home course and always enjoying play here.
As the first team out, POP was great. little less then 4 hrs. It's normally 4-4.25 hr in general in weekends.

Greens are about to be aerated, but still great and rolling great.
All other parts, fairway, rough were great. Bunkers were still little wet for first tee timers, but better if you went fairway bunkers.

Overall, a great starting of a day, I hit no better than my average score, but not worse at all.

Once the greens get back to normal, I will definitely go and play again.

Played twilight on a Thursday, pace of play was excellent.

Tee boxes were in awful condition but playable.

Fairways were above average and rolled out nicely.

Greens were the highlight of the day rolling true and medium/fast all day.

Overall had an enjoyable experience and given proximity to the course, will return again.

Went out to Glen Annie today even though there wasn't any recent reviews. The course was in good shape with the exception of tee boxes. Most green tees (didn't really pay attention to others) were in very bad shape. Lot of damages, thin, and when there was grass, they were very thick. Fairways were above average. Some brown spots, which wasn't unexpected for this time of year. The greens were rolling true, at just above average speed, and were undamaged. I thoroughly enjoyed this course. There were good amount of elevation changes and many holes with distinct characteristics.

Played in a tournament here last Thursday and I have played the other 2 SB courses (Sandpiper and RSM) and I have to say this one was probably my least favorite of the three. There was a fungus on these greens like those water marks you'd see on your ceiling. There was this yellow rings throughout the greens. Also they were extremely bumpy from grass not able to be grown on the green. I'm not sure if these two are similar issues. Fairways were ok, probably needs a haircut though. Tee boxes on the par 3s were pretty beat up along with some of the shorter par 4s which irons were used off the tees. Sand trap was really good and the staff was really top notch. Weird range, it's like hitting up into the mountain (all up hill). Some of the holes are a little funny too and didn't really like how some of these were laid out. One that come to mind is a par 5 where the fairway pretty much runs perpendicular to you and it's dead short and long so there is not a lot of room to miss. Like I said I'd probably but this at the bottom of my list on courses in the area.
