Played 7-11-19 early morning for $44 walking as a twosome and finishing in a little under three hours. Tee boxes were in good shape, nice coverage and mostly level with some minor divot damage on par threes. Fairways were in really good shape, green and lush with great lies and decent roll out. Rough along fairways was mostly thin with some bare spots, rough around greens is in good shape , lush and semi thick. Was in one fairway bunker that was semi-firm with some rocks in it but good to hit from. Greens were in nice condition, rolling medium/fast and semi-firm, only problem is the un-repaired pitch marks that can effect some of the putts. Course is in really nice condition right now and well worth playing.

Had a 9 hole playing lesson this morning with a student. This golf course is in great shape tee to green. Fairways full, lush and green. Rated 8/10. Greens rolling smooth, holding irons with spin. Rated 8/10. Tee boxes are a 9/10 level, super lush and look like PGA tour tees. Greenside rough is a 9/10. Rough just outside the fairways is in decent shape. Threw some balls in the bunkers which were raked and firmer. Overcast morning. Great staff, nice big range with separate putting and chipping green. I would encourage all golfers to give Rustic a go--you won't be disappointed. Greens, fairways, greenside rough and tees in fabulous shape.

Played 6-14 as a twosome paired up with another twosome at 8:40am on a overcast day in Moorpark. The sun never really came out until the final stretch of holes and the wind never really picked up, so the course opened itself up to scoring opportunities. The greens had some areas of small punch holes and verticut, but other than that they rolled great. Remember, everything breaks towards the gate! I can't imagine what these greens roll like after a couple hot summer days. The fairways had good coverage, not very many brown spots. The rough that was present was hit and miss and then gave way to the native brush of the land. Tee boxes were in great shape, lush with level lies. The sand varies here, with some being beach white and fluffy and others being native with plenty of rocks and semi hard pan. Overall, the greens are what protect this course. With severe undulations and subtle breaks that take a lot of course knowledge. I'd love to come back after a couple baked out days and see how fast this course plays. The course is in great shape and I can't wait to get back.

Played Rustic Canyon for the 1st time on Monday 6/3 after work ($24 to ride). Teed off around 5:15 with another single and was hoping to fly through the course. That wasn't the case on the front 9. For a Monday afternoon it was crowded! Besides that, it is an absolutely amazing course. The tee boxes were in good shape (a lot of divots as it was late in the day, but full grass coverage and it was easy to find a good place to tee up). The fairways were mowed short but fully covered and never had a bad or bare lie in the fairway. They were firm! Ball rolled out quite a bit. Greens were in great shape. Firm, fast, rolled true. They are VERY contoured and challenging. The negative on the greens is that there are a LOT of unfixed ball marks. (editorial - come on guys and gals! Fix your ball marks! It's a badge of honor to have to pull that tool out of your pocket. even if you miss the green pull it out and fix a couple!!!). The course is absolutely gorgeous. It's set back in the hills and leaves a lot of the local terrain untouched. The holes are creative and enjoyable. It is BY FAR the best value I have ever seen in golf. If you dropped this into Orange County or farther south in LA county it would be $75+ to play it. TLDR - Course is amazing and in great shape! Get out and play before it gets too hot!

Got in a morning round this morning 6/3/2019 walking with my buddy Matt, joined by a nice single Justin. Weather was perfect, POP 4 hours 5 minutes. Golf course is just in fabulous shape. The fairways are green, lush, padded and still provide some roll out. Nicest I have seen the fairways in some time. The greens were in good shape, rolling medium paced. Very few ball marks, those seen were fixed by our group. Tees were level, lush and in great shape. Greenside rough is in perfect shape. Was not in any bunkers but they looked and were described by my playing partners as firm. Staff is always great here, they are really doing a great job with this course. I think they have a qualifier out here on Thursday and those guys are going to love the shape its in. Highly recommended--go play.

Played Sat May 11th, Course was is VERY good shape although slightly wet from rain night before. Never played here and based on my score I see the bite to it. Greens are fast and have a lot of break. Next time I play I will have a little more knowledge to know where to miss and where I can be a little aggressive. Overall I really like this course and will be back.

Played 5-10-19 twilight for $25 walking finishing in a little under 4 hours with some minor waiting on back nine. Tee boxes were in great shape, level, lush and cut tight. Fairways were in nice shape, good roll out with nice lies and good cushioning. Rough around greens is in great shape, 1-2 inches and lush, rough along fairways is the same as usual, thin, clumpy,and bare spots. Was not in any Bunkers but they looked in good shape. greens were in good shape, semi-soft, medium/fast pace and mostly smooth. Overall course is in nice condition and worth playing.

A unique kind of course that is currently in perhaps the best shape it's ever been. One of the most difficult tests in SoCal. A great walking course. It's all about the green complexes which are diabolical. A links style track. If you have 150 to the flag you'll have to hit is 15 yards short and have it bounce up and roll to the hole like at British Open. So much fun. There is just no course in SoCal like this. A masterpiece for sure. And what a bargain by comparison. A must must must play.

Out early this morning 4/8/2019 for a playing lesson with one of my students. Anyone that has played Rustic knows that this time of year conditions are great and almost at its peak and today was no exception. The fairways are really coming in nice and lush. Summer grass is starting to appear in most spots. Its only going to get better each week. Very nice lies today in the fairway. The greens are fantastic. I have seen them faster. They are at a great quick comfortable speed yet still holding shots with spin and that are higher trajectory very nicely. Lots of playing experience helps on these massive greens with major undulation. Tees are also fantastic--very lush almost all level. Rough around the greens is very green, lush and in good shape. Rough around the fairways can be a mix of lush, dry or clumpy grasses. Bunkers were all raked and firm, we threw some balls in for practice and they played well. Had the practice area on grass this morning which was great. Rates are affordable, staff professional, layout great--one of the best courses in the county. My student who has never played here loved it and will be returning. Highly Recommended.
