I played my second round of golf back since having shoulder surgery at Rustic on Sunday, 3/10, teeing off at 8:20. POP was Sunday busy for Rustic...4:45. Contrary to the previous review, I found the conditions to be pretty good.

The tee boxes all have nice coverage, and were level. Some divot damage on the par 3's, but nothing unusual.

The fairways are definitely dormant, but they provide good lies with enough pad underneath to hit the ball well. They are on the firmer side, but to be expected on a links course.

The rough around the fairways is spotty, as usual, and you can get a mixed bag of lies. The rough around the greens is fantastic. All uniform, lush, thick and about 3 inches long. It's a pleasure to chip from.

Sand traps are on the firmer side. Many of them are more like soft dirt than fluffy sand...I found a couple of them and was able to get out without too much trouble.

The greens are in great shape right now. Definitely firm and fast. Downhill speeds approach 13, with uphill speeds being more like 8 or 9 on the stimp. Not too many pitch marks due to the firmness, and they held lines well. I love Rustic's greens.

Customer service is always great, and Sunday was no exception. We saw the beverage cart at least 4 times.

Overall, it was a great day on a fabulous course. It's definitely a challenging course, and it quickly showed me the true state of my game. I can't wait to get back!

Fairways are dazzling. I mean literally 'dazzling'. So dormant that they shine in the sun. Take your shades or maybe even a welding visor for the glare. Yes, I know - you get extra roll blah-blah but who really wants to play off these?

Greens are green as are the tee boxes. Greens were also billiard table solid so little to no pitch marks left on them but strangely not too speedy in spite of this. Sand was the usual Rustic. Rough non-existent except around some fringes.

Please grow again soon grass. I for one will thank you.

Played this in December on the last day of our trip after driving back from Scottsdale. It is a solid and interesting course, quite flat with some gentle undulations through the round. It was very dry overall but the greens were superb although quite hard to read. Strategy wise I found it challenging with a number of options on most holes. For a short driver like me the carries were manageable and the fairways wide enough in most cases. And also a few elevated tee boxes which is always a good feature. Bunkers were OK especially the one I holed out from! Nice big spacious greens too although some were treacherous with deep bunkers lying in wait. Club house was good and pro shop seemed fine but I was in a rush to catch my plane from LAX.

Played Rustic on Monday, 12/3 at noon as a foursome. The senior walking rate was $15. What a great deal that is. Temps were in the mid to upper 60's; just right for me. It was a bit windy, off and on. Later in the day, the wind picked up somewhat. Not nearly as windy as it can be at Rustic. To the course. I was a little bit disappointed by the fairway conditions, based on the two previous reviews. The fairways, although quite playable, were not very green. Winter conditions have set in. They were quite firm with good roll out. If you are in the fairway after a drive, you generally had a decent lie to hit from. I was in two greenside bunkers. One of them had deep, soft sand. The other had thinner, firm sand. Both were fine to hit from. The rough surrounding the greens is pristine. It is deep green, about 1 - 2 inches in length, and a pleasure to hit from. This is the best of any course I've played in the area. The greens were very fast, especially downhill. You MUST be below the hole to have any chance to score here. I hit several approach shots that I thought were perfect. I landed the ball short of the hole with plenty of height, only to watch the ball slowly, and painfully, roll and roll and roll. With all the slopes on these greens, that sometimes meant rolling off the green into a swale, very frustrating. This course always beats me up around the greens.

So what does one do, after finishing early at T R? Head over to Rustic Canyon and see if you can get out? Took about 30/40 minutes, but got out w/o any problem. Nice that the 2 courses are so close to one another. POP was right about 4 H. Great way to spend the day before Thanksgiving.

The greens were just great. Just like the previous reviews stated. Just great to chip/putt on and good speed, all round (above the hole was suspenseful, to say the least). The fairways for this time of year are in nice shape. Nice and green, with good roll out and lies. The rough around the greens is lush and you need to be precise, when playing out of it. The tees were level and in great shape. In one bunker and it had been raked and very playable. I found the course to be in the nicest condition I have seen, in the many times I have played here. Customer service was excellent at all levels.

Played on 11/18 and the greens were as good as I've ever seen them at Rustic. Talked to head pro after my round and he said they switched up the bent grass seed to a new "hybrid" strain of bent grass this summer and its finally starting to come through. They were rolling the greens out as we were teeing off and man they were perfect.

Walked the Blues this afternoon 11/5/2018 with my buddies Brian and Mack. Joined by a very nice single Milan. Weather was perfect high 70's, low 80's with just a slight breeze. POP was 4 hrs 30 minutes and we paid their twilight rate of 22 bucks to walk. Very friendly staff checking us in, putting green is in great shape just like the greens on the course. They have done some re-seeding to the range and have some grass stalls available for players.

The greens were just beautiful. Quick, firm putting like glass. Hardly any ballmarks and holding irons with spin.

The fairways for this time of year are in good shape. Mostly green and lush. We saw several sprinklers on the front nine watering.

The rough around the greens is in great shape, very lush, very soggy and wet in spots almost like they are over watering.

The tees were level and lush. In good shape.

Was in one bunker greenside on number 11 that was raked on the firmer side and in good shape.

This course is so fun to play, its in great shape and very affordable. Highly Recommended.

Walked the Blues this afternoon 10/1/18 with my buddies Mack and Brian. POP was 4 hrs 35 minutes chasing the sun. Lots of people on the course post Ryder Cup. Weather was around 88 degrees tee off with the back nine cooling off. Just a beautiful afternoon with the winds dying down on the back nine. Paid $22.00 which is their twilight time at 2pm.

This is the nicest I have seen Rustic's fairways. They had full coverage in most all areas, green and great lies.

The tees were mostly all level and lush and also in beautiful shape.

Greens were in good shape rolling medium speed. Seen them much faster but I believe they are almost healed completely from earlier maintenance weeks ago.

Was in one sand bunker on #1 right greenside that was raked and firm and in good shape.

Greenside rough is just beautiful and pristine. Rough just outside the fairways can either be lush all the way down to hardpan depending on the hole.

This is the most beautiful back nine in the county. Just an awesome, fun, challenging course that is affordable and in great shape at this time. Highly Recommended--proud to call it my home course.

Played 9-28-18 early morning with Lotrgolfer as a twosome and finishing in about 3 hours and 15 minutes. Tee boxes were in good shape, mostly level and semi-lush. Fairways were very lush with minimal roll out and great lies. Rough is always bad here, bare thin and patchy, but at least the fairways are huge. Was in two greenside bunkers, one a little firm and thin, the other was soft with plenty of sand. Greens were in nice shape, rolling medium/fast and a little soft. Overall course is in real nice shape.
