The Saticoy Club was a sensational experience Monday as a player and event organizer.

I know The Saticoy Club does a great job managing their water resources so they have plenty of supply for the dry SoCal Summers, but it never ceases to impress me how green they can maintain the course.

We’ve added extra fun to the events this year with the Vivid Golf Tent and Pre-Rounds Skill Challenges. The Saticoy Club staging area is perfect for accommodating and their outside services staff were always happy to lend a hand.

Right now, I can’t recommend The Saticoy Club enough. It’s my first choice for golf events and if I was looking into a club membership in LA or Ventura County, my first choice as well.

The Saticoy was again a Dream Boat! Unfortunately, my golf game was E.L. Dog Vomito… Thank goodness I had most excellent playing partners Johnny and Mark!


As with past reviews, I don’t have enough positive things to say about this incredible course, it is such a great course and a true test of golf, especially on this day with the rough grown juicy and iron play being back to expansionism status.


There are very few courses in Southern California I can think of as far as layout, conditions, and environment that would be better. The course played its yardage, and fairways offered limited roll out on drives and approaches. The course is very well maintained and in excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.8 out of 5.


I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level, and always green, no damage. Condition excellent.

Fairways: Green, lush, and defined from rough. Grabby with limited rollout. Condition excellent.

Greens: Green, fast in speed, on the medium to firm side, and very tricky to read at times. Speed about a 10.5 - 11. Condition excellent.

Sand: Maintained with excellent consistency. Condition excellent.

Rough: Maintained and defined, and juicy! About 3 – 6 inches. Condition excellent.

Waste Areas: Noted to be more overgrown than in the past with nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Balls were not found in these areas on this day. Conditions excellent.


Driving Range: The range was scenic, hitting off an artificial turf surface. The range places you on a mountain top hitting into a valley with various greens and markers that are situated in an area that is fully grassed, with markers from 100 - 225 yards. Range balls were quality Callaway golf balls. Range runout was about 275 yards.


Practice Area: I noted a very nice chipping area on a lower tier away from the driving range. Conditions excellent.


Practice Putting Greens: Two mid / large-size practice putting greens were noted, both in excellent condition. Speed of the practice putting greens were consistent with course.


POP: 4.8 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole.


Other: Noted a beautiful clubhouse, restaurant, and golf shop, all were top tier. Customer service was top level. And the food at the Snack Shop was lights out good again!

Played here in group 1B of Monday’s Golf Moose/Vivid Golf/GreensKeeper.org outing. Just a spectacular day all around! Huge thanks to Johnny for allowing us to gain access to places as special as The Saticoy Club.

Conditions are excellent. The greens were smooth, accepting of full shots, and medium-fast speed. I’ve seen them faster here in the past, but these were great. Fairways might be the highlight right now with a uniform smoothness to the turf that not only provided perfect lies all day, but looked fantastic to the eye and really accentuated the contours of the course. The rough varied from semi-penal to extremely penal in spots where it got really deep and juicy. Bunkers were well maintained and had sufficient sand. We played the blue/white combo tees and all tee boxes were in nice shape.

I fell in love with this course the first time I played it in 2014, and that love only grows each time I return. It’s an amazing place and I feel extremely fortunate to have spent the day there trying to capture its beauty with my camera and being challenged by the course. Thanks again to Johnny and Vivid Golf for providing exceptional opportunities like this!

Rode the blues this morning 8/25/25 as a part of the GK/Golfmoose/Vivid event under beautiful warmer weather around 80 degrees with about a nice 10 mph breeze. Joined by buddies Ron and Matt. Pop was 4 hrs 50 minutes which for a 120 player event was not bad and we moved smoothly especially the first 9 holes.

Probably my 10th or so round here and one of my favorite courses in all of socal. Parkland style courses with midsize fairways and challenging approach shots to well bunkered green complexes that have some slope to them. The par 3s are challenging and the par 4s and 5s really flow well. They have something special here. Former US Open qualifiers here and
former host of the LPGA tour.
Green were in great shape rolling pure and quick with hardly any ballmark damage. We noticed lots of back pins today. Greens are undulating and can be hard to read without repeated play. Most greens here slope from back to front. Rated 9/10

Fairways were in great shape. Rated 9/10. Perfect lies.

Tees were in great shape. Level and lush. 9/10

Rough was super juicy and in the thickest shape I have seen playing this course. Rated 9/10

Was in greenside bunker on 17 that had a great nice layer of sand and easy to splash out of. All bunkers I walked by looked to be in great shape. Rated 8/10.

Never miss an opportunity to play The Saticoy Club! Highly recommended!

This was my first GK/Golfmoose event, and I have to say I'll definitely be back for more. Great experience at a course I'd otherwise never get out to.

Range was obviously designed for their normal member level of play and not a larger scramble, as we somewhat overwhelmed it since we were on the turf mats and not on the larger grass area. But can't hold that against them, hospitality of every staff member was great.

Course was in fantastic shape! Fairways lush, rough was thick but definitely not dead. Tee boxes all flat with plenty of space to tee off even with divots (which were largely filled in---good job to us!) The one thing that was a little surprising was the greens were patchy and inconsistent on their speed. Certainly nothing I would say was bad, but didn't really match the rest of the course conditions given how pristine everything else was.

From the whites, course was way more forgiving that I was expecting. If you are a shot maker, you can really score well. But even if you're just a mid handicapper, easy to keep in play and not have the worst lie (probably not flat, but playable)

What a day it was at The Saticoy Club on Monday 4/14 …even ran into AndrewZ28 totally unexpected!

This was our 4th Day After The Masters event and once again The Saticoy Club shined. This time around we went bigger than previous outings showing off the new Vivid Golf tent and putting on a Masters Champion Putting Skill Challenge. Thank you GKers rgm2525, GDR23, barkydog1 and mark_6m for your assistance. I can’t add anything to AndrewZ28 and GDR23 reviews as far as course playability and description. I can however give an outing organizer’s perspective.

This was my 8th event in 3 years at The Saticoy Club and it remains the top experience among our group, which has well over 500 players now. Our players love everything about the course and how they are treated by the club as guests. It’s a special feeling driving up to the clubhouse glancing at the beautiful course that stays with you for your entire visit. It’s a peaceful place with a pure golf vibe.

As expected, the event services are exceptional at this LPGA host course. Full outside services on hand for bag drop and other assistance. Beautiful driving range, practice putting and The Pit (located at the bottom of the hill next to hole 10. The proshop is full stocked and Pancho Grill is conveniently located at turn/clubhouse.

I posted a bunch of fresh photos. The course was in immaculate shape. Never pass up a chance to play here if you can. Absolutely consider joining The Saticoy Club.

Saticoy, you now have a piece of my heart.

Got to play Saticoy for the first time right behind the GK outing this past Monday. This one has been on my radar for years and now I kick myself for not finding my way out there sooner. Saticoy has vaulted up towards the top of my list for my favorite courses in SoCal. I don't know if I can give a bigger compliment to a facility than "this is a golfer's place".

The crew we met were awesome. You know they have an amazing and thoughtful team that they have a one head embroidery machine. First place I've ever seen to that so they can serve their members, which speaks volumes. Just great dudes in the shop and we only grabbed beers from the snack shop but that guy was funny and great too.

First and foremost, I can't think of a better short game area than Saticoy. I didn't want to leave. Give me a cooler, a speaker and about 6-7 hours down there and I'd be in heaven. We hit one shot we had with a rangefinder and it was 115 yards. AMAZING!!

The course? Unforgettable. It's rare that I finish a round and can remember every detail of every hole. Saticoy was one of those. It's massively interesting, challenging, fair, fun, creative and welcoming. 10/10 for the layout (I'm even giving grace to #10 which seemed massively out of place but I made a birdie so it's cool by me). I think my group got sick of me looking around and saying "this is classic Southern California golf". It is. It's championship golf with a socal vibe.

The conditions were perfect. And those greens? Let's go!

If anyone gets a chance to get to Saticoy, whether at a GK event or otherwise, do it. If you love golf you need to experience this place.

Rode the blues this morning 4/14/25 with buddies Matt and Mark joined by Matt who was a pleasure to play with. Our POP was 5 hours and we had very minimal waiting under beautiful cooler weather in the low 60s with a breeze that picked up on the back nine. I have played here several times and the course is in fabulous shape[check out my IG account for pics] with nice lush Fairways 8.5/10, healthy juicy beautiful maintained rough 9.5/10, quick firm greens rolling about an 11.5 on the stimp 9/10, beautifully maintained bunkers with white marble sand 9/10 and tees that were level and lush 8.5/10. It's what you would expect a great private CC like Saticoy CC. Love the challenging layout with numerous doglegs, elevation changes, quick undulating speedy greens and thick rough. Def a club I would join if I lived in the area. One of the better courses in the county. Recommended!

Monday 1/13 at The Saticoy Club was our 58th Private Course Outing since I started these events in Southern California in 2021. For The Saticoy Club, it was their 9th time hosting our group and we can’t appreciate them enough. It’s a spectacular, challenging, beautiful LPGA Tour golf course. The event service, facilities and food are excellent. Every year we pick a special course to host our Day After The Masters Event, this year, as in previous years, it will be at The Saticoy Club.

Conditions on Monday were superb given our current 6+ months drought and November’s “Mountain Fire” that burned right up to edge of the course. Greens were fast and smooth. Fairways provided full dormant bermunda grass coverage. The lies were a little tight but consistent with good roll out. The primary rough had full coverage, mostly dormant but still challenging. Tee boxes were in great shape, we played the blue tees, lush, tight, some divot damage so not pristine, but solid.

We’ve played the Saticoy Club mostly on perfect weather days, once in the fog, some windy days but never with 20 to 40 mph winds. Once out on the course, I was happy to find many holes on the course protected by hillsides and large trees from the strong winds.

I highly recommend playing or joining this “players” club. Try not to ever miss an opportunity to experience an invite or event here. Check out the photos I posted.
