The Saticoy was again awesome!

Once again, the Saticoy was incredible. I don’t have enough positive things to say about this course, iThere are very few courses I can think of as far as layout, conditions, and environment that would be better in SoCal.

The course played its yardage, and fairways offered roll out on drives and approaches. The course is very well maintained and in overall excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.8 out of 5. I note the following: Tee Boxes: Level, and always green, no damage. Conditions excellent. Fairways: Green, lush, and defined from rough. Grabby with limited rollout. Conditions excellent. Greens: Green, fast in speed, on the medium to firm side, and very tricky to read at times. These Greens are a true test. Speed about an 11. Conditions excellent. Sand: Maintained with excellent consistency. Conditions excellent. Rough: Maintained and defined, about 3 – 4 inches. Conditions excellent. Waste Areas: Noted on a handful of holes, and such were maintained with overgrown nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Conditions excellent. Driving Range: The range was scenic, hitting off an artificial turf surface. The range places you on a mountain top hitting into a valley with various greens and markers that are situated in an area that is fully grassed, with markers from 100 - 225 yards. Range balls were quality Callaway golf balls. Range runout was about 275 yards. Practice Area: I noted a very nice chipping area on a lower tier away from the driving range. Conditions excellent. Practice Putting Greens: Two mid-size practice putting greens were noted, both in excellent condition. Speed of the practice putting greens were consistent with course. POP: 4.95 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole. We paced ourselves accordingly. Other: Noted a beautiful clubhouse, restaurant, and golf shop, all were top tier. Customer service was top level. And the food at the Snack Shop was lights out good! Thank you, Johnny and GreensKeeper.org for this GK / GM Outing!

Played 1-12-26 mid morning shotgun in the Vivid/GK outing with nice sunny skies on a semi windy day. Tee boxes were in great shape, good coverage, cut tight and level with minor divot damage on the par threes. Fairways were in really good condition, wall to wall green with good roll out and semi-tight lies. Rough was playing 1-3 inches, in great shape, very lush and thick. Was in a couple of greenside bunkers, both of which were nicely groomed with a good amount of semi-firm sand. Greens were in really nice condition, rolling smooth, medium/fast and playing semi-soft. Always great to get out at Saticoy with very friendly helpful staff on such a wonderful course.

1-12-2026: On a very windy day when I needed my golf bag to help hold down the Vivid Golf check-in tent, it was another fantastic experience having an event at The Saticoy Club.

The golf course was in, as expected, exceptional condition. Greens smooth, firm, medium fast. Fairways lush, firm, with very few blemishes. Rough, primarily fescue, lush, beautifully defining the fairways with the primary rough (3 to 5 in) and secondary rough (8 to 12 in). Bunkers were well maintained, a little firm (which I like), with quality sand. Tee Boxes, we played the blue tees, lush, cut tight, with very few divots.

I can go on and on about how fun, challenging, diverse and gorgeous The Saticoy Club layout is which recently hosted an LPGA event. The views, especially on our crystal-clear windy day, are jaw-dropping of the ocean and surrounding mountains. But I’d rather have you view the photos I just posted because seeing is believing :)

From a golf course organizer’s perspective, it’s my #1 course for Private Club events. It always sells out. It always delivers a fantastic experience on all levels with the highest repeat event rate of the 30+ courses I’ve been doing private club events at for the last 4 years. It’s the only course for 2026 I’ve booked THREE events at. I always let players know that come to my events, or are considering coming, The Saticoy Club is a can’t miss opportunity to play.

Great time out today 1/12/26 walking the blues with buddies John, Ron and Matt. We were met with fierce Santa Ana winds sustained 25mph with gusts up to 35mph+ and temps around 72 degrees. Pop a little over 5 hrs. Well run golfmoose event. I loved the experience of being able to walk this layout today. Saticoy CC staff should be commended after receiving a ton of rain and damaging winds these last couple of weeks. The course is in fantastic shape. The rough was about the thickest I have seen it just off the fairways. 3 to 4 inches thick with emerald green color. It was a club grabber and at least a half shot penalty. One of the highlights of the course. Rated 9.5/10 Fairways were very spongy, mostly all lush with great lies and hardly signs of any drainage damage from the rains last week. Rated 8.5/10 Blue tees were level and in good shape with good coverage. Rated 8/10 Greens were in great shape!! Rolling like true glass surfaces. Stimp 11, probably closer to a 12 on downhillers. Very few ballmarks present. Greens are a great challenge here at Saticoy. Had one of my better putting rounds and saw the lines great today. Rated 9/10 Was in greenside bunker right of 4 green that was firm and was in fairway bunker on 15 that had perfect firm sand to hit from. Rated 7/10 Layout is strong here and one of the better tests in VC/SB county. If you want to challenge yourself go play it now with the current rough length and quick greens. All staff were super cool today. Cart attendants very friendly. Nice driving range with two nice putting greens and members here are blessed to have such a great short game area just down the hill from hole 10. One of my favorite courses in socal. Go play. .

The Saticoy Club was a sensational experience Monday as a player and event organizer.

I know The Saticoy Club does a great job managing their water resources so they have plenty of supply for the dry SoCal Summers, but it never ceases to impress me how green they can maintain the course.

We’ve added extra fun to the events this year with the Vivid Golf Tent and Pre-Rounds Skill Challenges. The Saticoy Club staging area is perfect for accommodating and their outside services staff were always happy to lend a hand.

Right now, I can’t recommend The Saticoy Club enough. It’s my first choice for golf events and if I was looking into a club membership in LA or Ventura County, my first choice as well.

The Saticoy was again a Dream Boat! Unfortunately, my golf game was E.L. Dog Vomito… Thank goodness I had most excellent playing partners Johnny and Mark!


As with past reviews, I don’t have enough positive things to say about this incredible course, it is such a great course and a true test of golf, especially on this day with the rough grown juicy and iron play being back to expansionism status.


There are very few courses in Southern California I can think of as far as layout, conditions, and environment that would be better. The course played its yardage, and fairways offered limited roll out on drives and approaches. The course is very well maintained and in excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.8 out of 5.


I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level, and always green, no damage. Condition excellent.

Fairways: Green, lush, and defined from rough. Grabby with limited rollout. Condition excellent.

Greens: Green, fast in speed, on the medium to firm side, and very tricky to read at times. Speed about a 10.5 - 11. Condition excellent.

Sand: Maintained with excellent consistency. Condition excellent.

Rough: Maintained and defined, and juicy! About 3 – 6 inches. Condition excellent.

Waste Areas: Noted to be more overgrown than in the past with nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Balls were not found in these areas on this day. Conditions excellent.


Driving Range: The range was scenic, hitting off an artificial turf surface. Played here in group 1B of Monday’s Golf Moose/Vivid Golf/GreensKeeper.org outing. Just a spectacular day all around! Huge thanks to Johnny for allowing us to gain access to places as special as The Saticoy Club.

Conditions are excellent. The greens were smooth, accepting of full shots, and medium-fast speed. I’ve seen them faster here in the past, but these were great. Fairways might be the highlight right now with a uniform smoothness to the turf that not only provided perfect lies all day, but looked fantastic to the eye and really accentuated the contours of the course. The rough varied from semi-penal to extremely penal in spots where it got really deep and juicy. Bunkers were well maintained and had sufficient sand. We played the blue/white combo tees and all tee boxes were in nice shape.

I fell in love with this course the first time I played it in 2014, and that love only grows each time I return. It’s an amazing place and I feel extremely fortunate to have spent the day there trying to capture its beauty with my camera and being challenged by the course. Thanks again to Johnny and Vivid Golf for providing exceptional opportunities like this!

Rode the blues this morning 8/25/25 as a part of the GK/Golfmoose/Vivid event under beautiful warmer weather around 80 degrees with about a nice 10 mph breeze. Joined by buddies Ron and Matt. Pop was 4 hrs 50 minutes which for a 120 player event was not bad and we moved smoothly especially the first 9 holes.

Probably my 10th or so round here and one of my favorite courses in all of socal. Parkland style courses with midsize fairways and challenging approach shots to well bunkered green complexes that have some slope to them. The par 3s are challenging and the par 4s and 5s really flow well. They have something special here. Former US Open qualifiers here and
former host of the LPGA tour.
Green were in great shape rolling pure and quick with hardly any ballmark damage. We noticed lots of back pins today. Greens are undulating and can be hard to read without repeated play. Most greens here slope from back to front. Rated 9/10

Fairways were in great shape. Rated 9/10. Perfect lies.

Tees were in great shape. Level and lush. 9/10

Rough was super juicy and in the thickest shape I have seen playing this course. Rated 9/10

Was in greenside bunker on 17 that had a great nice layer of sand and easy to splash out of. All bunkers I walked by looked to be in great shape. Rated 8/10.

Never miss an opportunity to play The Saticoy Club! Highly recommended!

This was my first GK/Golfmoose event, and I have to say I'll definitely be back for more. Great experience at a course I'd otherwise never get out to.

This was my first GK/Golfmoose event, and I have to say I'll definitely be back for more. Great experience at a course I'd otherwise never get out to.

Range was obviously designed for their normal member level of play and not a larger scramble, as we somewhat overwhelmed it since we were on the turf mats and not on the larger grass area. But can't hold that against them, hospitality of every staff member was great.

Course was in fantastic shape! Fairways lush, rough was thick but definitely not dead. Tee boxes all flat with plenty of space to tee off even with divots (which were largely filled in---good job to us!) The one thing that was a little surprising was the greens were patchy and inconsistent on their speed. Certainly nothing I would say was bad, but didn't really match the rest of the course conditions given how pristine everything else was.

From the whites, course was way more forgiving that I was expecting. If you are a shot maker, you can really score well. But even if you're just a mid handicapper, easy to keep in play and not have the worst lie (probably not flat, but playable)
