Had a chance to play Cascata this last Friday 7/24 to start the GK VEGAS weekend trip. After hearing about it so long I couldn't wait to get out there. The entire experience is top notch from the gate when you get there. We started off with an amazing breakfast with incredible views of the driving range. After heading to hit a few balls at one of the top 3 most beautiful ranges I have ever seen. Once you are warmed up and ready to go you meet your caddy. We were lucky enough to have Zack and I can't speak highly enough about him. Our group was talking trash to each other and he went along with it. He absolutely worked his butt off as we sprayed balls all over the course . Gave great reads and course knowledge that definitely shaved stokes off all of our game. I would highly recommend asking for Zack if he is available As far as conditions go, Cascata is in great shape right now with the month long Covid break they had. Greens are glass and roll fast and true. Fairways were perfect carpet with great roll. Rough was lush and thick but not as penal as it looked. Bunkers were fluffy and challenging white sand. All and all I cant say anything negative. The Cascata experience and service is World Class and I would highly recommend it anytime you are in Vegas. I wont forget this round and I can't wait to get back out!

Started the GK VEGAS weekend with a round at Cascata, which is like having your dessert first. The rest of the meal was outstanding, but this was so savory.

Even with the current "social distancing" requirements, Cascata still offers the complete Vegas VIP package. If you don't want to use the valet, you can park after you drop off your bag. The locker room is currently closed, but not noticeable since it's the only golf course locker room I've ever used. Restaurant is open and the food is still outstanding. We grabbed a window seat to look at the range and was able to see some bighorn sheep in the afternoon.

Course has matched every time I've played here. There is some work going on in the fairways with some sod replacement/aeration, but I only hit out of 1 of those spots all day. Bunkers were excellent, firm in the fairway and soft and fluffy like instant potatoes next to the green. Greens were running FAST, I couldn't imagine how much faster they get but the caddy is they were running slower.

With Cascata, you get a great course designed by Rees Jones, challenging, fun, and penal if you hit it off line into the desert. Incredible service start to finish. Drink cart was around like every 3-4 holes. Consistently Top 2 in the state and top 60 in US public courses.

For me, the caddy experience is what sets it apart from everywhere else. Dan, our caddy, could probably read the greens blindfolded. If I miss the putt, it was definitely a me issue as our group drained a few long putts and scared the hole a few more times (some exchanges: putt to the right edge of the old hole; hit this brown spot here; and your aim point is that brown piece of grass). Just incredible. Summer rates are phenomenal for what you get with it. Highly recommended.

Got to play here last Friday with a bunch of Gkers! WHAT an experience, this is my second time here and it was even better the second time. We arrived early, had a great breakfast and headed out to the range. Got to play here with Matt, Alex, Joe and myself and our Caddy Zack. Zack was fantastic, very knowledgeable and stuck it through with us, which I know was challenging haha. The course was in great shape couldn't ask for a better place to play, wasn't too hot and we had a slight breeze which was great!

Greens - Uh, if Zack wasn't our caddy I would of had no idea where these greens break. He was able to give us great reads, the speed of these greens was reallllly quick. The Valley influences the break a lot, some putts you would think are up hill, but roll really straight and flat. The greens were very receptive to shots and rolled true all day. For sure one of the many pluses to this course.

Tee Boxes - Always a nice level place to stand, no issues here.

Fairways - Perfect, like hitting off butter, was not hard at all but you can get really good rolls on them. They were a little more damp then last time, but that was due to the weather last week when it hit an all time high out there.

Experience has always been great here, we had a fantastic caddy, fantastic breakfast and drinks. This place is worth every penny, officially one of my top 5 courses I've got to play so far. Will be going back again!

Played with Apisarski, Gregholla, and Joefoot this past Friday at 11:30. This was the 4th time that I have played Cascata and it still is the best overall experience that I have had. Even though Covid has hit the service side a bit by not allowing use of a personalized locker or the showers post round the service was still fantastic. We got there early to have breakfast and it was top notch as most previous reviews state. We got our carts outside and went off the the range. Unfortunately the Waterfall on the range was not running today but the waterfall through the clubhouse was. I understand the need to save but I was a little sad because I really hyped the driving range to my group. We met our Caddie Zack at the first hole and He was great all around, just a genuine good guy.

Course conditions were fantastic as always expected for this high caliber course. The 1st hole creek was not running because it was the same pump that runs the range waterfall. Not a big deal because you cant really see it unless you are next to it.

Tee's Fantastic with no divot damage that I could see. Fairways fully lush but a couple had been verticut within the last few weeks but didnt cause any issues. Rough was lush and I think I only saw 5 or 6 spots with a little browning but nothing too bad. Sand looked nice but I was not in any so I can not rate them.

The there were the greens. I always come to expect fast greens at cascata and today was not exception. They were firm and running fast but were as smooth as can be. Almost like putting on a pool table. Zack gave some darn good reads and kept most of us in check. I was told it was the first time ever that they had aerified the greens in the springs and the greens sure looked good.

Overall this is still high on my recommendation list for the Vegas area and if you have the means to play I highly recommend not missing it.

Overview: Made the drive up from Phoenix to play with the GK Guru's at the high end, VIP treatment golf course that is Cascata Golf Club. Cascata was designed by the "Open Doctor" Rees Jones in 2000 and was ranked #62 on the list of America's top 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses in 2019. (as noted by Golf Digest)
The mountain backed golf course and 37,000 square foot Tuscan designed clubhouse has a dining room, cigar bar, pro shop, cart barn and two locker rooms. Canyon walls frame each hole and many of the holes have man-made water features.

Clubhouse: One of the most beautiful clubhouses that I have ever seen. As soon as you come through the gated entrance and up and around the main drive, you see the clubhouse and kind of just stare at it in awe. You come in the main entrance and on the other side of the wall is a very nice dining room and bar area. You look out the windows of the dining room and see the beautiful practice area. To the right is the waterfall that comes right through the middle of the clubhouse and on the other side of the clubhouse is the pro shop, the ladies and men's locker rooms. Below that is the "cart barn" ... more about that later. Due to COVID-19, the locker room area was very limited (totally understandable), but in normal times you would be able to have a locker for the day, with your name on it. (nice touch)
I had breakfast in the dining room and it was very good and the prices were better than I expected. I was paired with rob1563 and John_T and the three of us had a couple of drinks after the round. Rob and John ... enjoyed playing with both of you. Hope we get to play together again!

Practice Area: As you leave the cart barn area, the doors swing open like a Disney World ride, and before you are man-made water features, 2 beautiful practice putting greens and a practice area that allows you to aim up the mountain and possibly hit into a 400 foot long river of water that comes down the mountain. Unfortunately, the water was not flowing down the mountain today, but the setting just teases you of what is going to come once you get to the 1st tee. Probably the most photogenic practice area I have ever seen and/or used.

Course: Each foursome has a forecaddie and we were fortunate to have a good one (Dan), who has worked at Cascata for a number of years. In particular, he did a great job reading the bent grass greens. The course basically works up and down Red Mountain and each hole is separated by canyon walls. This let us feel that we had the course to ourselves ... which we did. A good mix of holes, and the par 4's had a good variance of length ... a couple of short par 4's and then stretched out to #17 that was 470 yards from the blue tees and 453 yards from the white tees. In particular I enjoyed the par 3's ... especially ,#4 #7 and #12, but my favorite hole was the par 4 14th hole.
The course was in great shape ... fairways were very, very good. The rough had an intermediate cut and then the regular cut. The regular cut was just long enough that the ball might settle down and cause you some trouble. I really liked the white sand bunkers and thought that the sand was very consistent throughout the 2 green side bunkers that I was in. Cascata did a bunker renovation in 2019 ... they replaced the liners, revamped the drainage lines and replaced the sand with new white sand. The white sand is a nice contrast to the desert terrain and matches nicely with all the water features. The greens ran at an 11 on the stimp and they were smooth, had a lot of grass coverage and were pure. I would have definitely have underread the greens all day if Dan was not there to read our putts. The only small issue that I had with the course was that some parts of the fairways were re-sodded and they had punched those sodded areas ... particularly on holes #1 - #6. Lastly, we were fortunate enough to see a baby bighorn sheep looking down at the tee box at #2, and then we saw about a dozen more bighorn sheep grazing on the practice range grass after our round.

Final Thoughts: Cascata is a beautiful course that fits in well with the Las Vegas "high roller" scene. It is a course that I would not be able to afford to play on a regular basis, but it was great to go out and experience the uniqueness of that type of customer service and attention to detail. If you plan on playing in Las Vegas, this would definitely be a course that you should play.

It seems like the course is out in the middle of nowhere. Then you look up and see what looks like an oasis with a bunch of green and palm trees. Very nice entrance with gate, waterfall in the clubhouse and personalized locker, small but attractive golf shop. Now for the golf which was a wonderful experience. The tees, fairways and greens were very good. The beverage cart girls were timely. The caddie we had was very good at reading the greens. Could not believe some greens looked uphill and they were actually downhill. Very steep price tag but still had a great time. Some other better values out there but definitely a must play.

Cascata was fantastic!

I was fortunate to play this course on 8/23. I have heard about the course and how great it was. My expectations were high and I did my best to try and temper them. I was afraid the hype would taint my opinion and that the course would not live up to expectation.

Finally arriving at the gate to the course, the exclusiveness of the course was apparent. Access granted at the private gate and we drove to the clubhouse. Car was valeted and clubs disappeared to be loaded on our cart. A host escorted us to the locker room which passed a stream that runs from the top of a mountain behind the driving range and right through the middle of the clubhouse. Pretty Cool! Arriving in the locker room, my name was printed on my personal storage space was a nice touch.

After changing shoes we headed off to the restaurant and enjoyed the eggs Benedict. Good recommendation.

Now let me talk about the trip to the golf cart. This was so cool. Carts were downstairs, inside the clubhouse. Bags were loaded, staff was there to help, and our caddie was there waiting. Once we got settled, we drove to the range. The coolest part of this was the automatic doors that opened to expose such a great view of the putting green, range with the waterfall backdrop, and the mountain scene behind that.

After meeting the caddie and warming up, we headed to the course. This was a fun course with elevated tee boxes, uphill and downhill holes since the course is on a mountain. I’ve never had a caddie before and don’t much like the idea of another set of eyes on my game, but Quincy was a big help. It was good to have his input on where to hit, but just as good for his keen ability to help find my ball when I didn’t stay on the fairway. The greens were challenging and on a few holes, there was no way I would even get close to the cup since reading them was so difficult. If I could execute Quincy’s direction, I’d be good, but knowing and doing don’t always match up.

This was a great experience. Was is able to knock my favorite course from the top spot…No. But it is a solid number 2, and if you were to throw in all of the extras in the experience, it would take top spot. Such a fun day.

From the moment you pull up and have to ring the buzzer, you feel the luxury. The double wide gates open and you drive up to, what other courses would call "Bag Drop". I would call this, the meet and greet. Valet takes your car and your clubs, just take your shoes with you. You are then escorted to your locker room, where your assigned locker is marked with a laser etched name tag (that you can keep after your round). I thought that was totally cool!!

Get here early to enjoy the inner scenery as well as enjoy breakfast, I recommend the Eggs Benedict.

Then its time to golf. Walk down the stairs and meet your caddy, who is waiting for you in an indoor tunnel type area, with your cart. When you're ready, two huge double doors open and out you go to the driving range. What an opulent experience, you will later come back the same way, and I thought it was one of the coolest parts.

The driving range is very photogenic, where the back drop is a beautiful waterfall. If you hit well enough, you can try to hit it, but I can't so I didn't try. I think its 325 yards????

Our caddy's name was Quincy or "Q" and he was the BOMB!!! I've never golfed with a caddy before and the experience was truly surreal. The customer service, knowledge, experience and sheer friendliness was totally worth it. At one point, I was getting ready to putt, picked up my ball, tossed it to "Q", he cleaned it and tossed it back. Totally felt like I was on the tour. Holy crap. That was cool. I didn't believe him, initially, when he told me to putt to a certain area. When I did what he said, the ball would do exactly what he knew it would. Apparently I don't know how to read greens, because I was way off when I tried to read it in advance.

The course was in great shape and well taken care of. The greens were fast (in my opinion). I personally didn't thing the rough was over grown, however, it was thick and deep. A couple of times, my club would get way under the ball (but that could've been me.)

The cart woman was around, more than any other course I've been on. Saw her at least 4-5 times. Drinks were very reasonable and had a good selection.

There is no club house at the turn, but I would assume if you needed anything, your caddy would make sure you had it. Plenty of water and restroom stations throughout.

When, unfortunately your round is complete, you go back through the double doors and are greeted with a cold towel for your face. Walk away from your cart and you'll find them in your car that was pulled up to the front door for you.

Overall, the experience was amazing and unforgettable. I was fortunate to be invited as a GKGuru and had a great time with all my fellow Gurus. Thank you Johnny and Cascata for the best golf experience I've had thus far.

Playing Cascata on Friday Aug. 23rd was by far the most over the top golf experience I have ever had. From the excellent service by the entire staff, the great breakfast with some new friends, to the course it self. It was such a pleasure to spend the day with the GK Gurus at Cascata. The fantastic experience started in clubhouse and continued on to the practice facility. It was a little tough getting focused to play when there were long horn sheep on the driving range, Oh did I mention the waterfall from the top of the hill above the range down through the clubhouse. That being said perfect new balls and great turf made the warm up easy.

I don't have much to say as far as conditions because it was perfect tee to green. I would be really pressing to find any faults with this course. Flat tee boxes, smooth tight fairways, 1-2" rough,soft white sand, and fast true greens. The 4 Caddie KC was very knowledgeable of the course and his reads were spot on. He watched us practice and was good at helping with all parts of the game. Especially when he helped me make a nice 48' putt for birdie on 18 to get the "birdie chain" and a 40 to 1 bet from Matt( I used his money to by lunch).

Cascata should be a bucket list course for anyone who enjoys the finest of golf experiences.
