Tee boxes were nice, but they were almost a neon green which annoyed me. We played off the black tees, we usually play off of the blues and it was way more challenging. I believe the 10th hole is 220 to clear the water and make it on the grass, so hit it straight. If you aim a little left, you can get away with 210 or so.

The greens were very soft, while being very fast.

Overall it was in good shape for the time of year.

Played Friday, 2/4, with my usual MGF crew. 10:15ish tee time for $65 with the Arroyo/Siena card. After the overnight low hit the low 30s, knew we were in for a frost delay so we showed around 9:45. When we checked in, found it was about 1:45 but they were pushing groups out and we teed at 11:15. Unfortunately it meant for a slow round and we finished in about 5 hours (it's usually a bit slower here, averaging around 4:30).

Full grass range (included) was open and recently renovated. They have a nice chipping/bunker area at the range that looks barely used. However, the only practice green is a very small green behind the clubhouse that usually doesn't match the course.

Course was in outstanding shape and they continue to work on the bunker renovation, reducing or outright removing them. The new sand was fine, beach like that was incredible to hit from. The holes with the new sand have the best bunkers in Vegas right now. Fairways are lush, with no thin/bare areas. Rough is as gnarly as ever, 2-3 inches that really affect the shot. I think the greens were suffering from the frost. As the day went along, they became soft with tons of footprint indentions, especially around the cup.

Great course, it may not be one if on a Vegas golf trip, but good for the locals. Residential course with some long, disjointed drives between holes. You don't go back by the clubhouse once you leave, but the drink cart was around 3-4 times. They need a halfway house around 8/9 to fill out the course.

Played on Friday, 11/12, 8am, for $70 with the Cocky & Lucky Social and Golf Club. The driving range is back open but there's still some maintenance going on the left side. The small putting green outside the pro shop was running a bit slower than the course.

Course was in fantastic shape. Tee boxes nice and level. Fairways are lush, just not lots of roll. The rough was thick and juicy, absolutely brutal to hit from as the ball just sunk down in it. They are renovating their bunkers and the front 9 was looking fantastic. They're reducing the size of many: On 1st, they took out the left side bunker completely (last year) and now reduced the front bunker in half; on the par 3 3rd, they took out the right front and back bunkers, and cut the left front in half, and on 6th, they took out the right front bunker. The new bunkers have new, beach like sand that may be some of the best in town. Just a completely new look and its now grass bunkers. I like it since they had such troubles maintaining them. The greens were incredible. Fast and firm, there was no stopping any shots coming in, and anything catching a downhill rolled forever.

Arroyo is my second home course. It's been in good/great shape for the last 18 months or so, friendly staff, easy to get on, and fun to play with some scoring chances. Pace of play is usually an issue, almost a guaranteed 4:30 round, and this round was no different. We were pushed back a few minutes to allow 2 guys from the group ahead to make it to the 1st tee. I've been on those buddy trips and know what happened, but it sucks when it's in front of you. They were a full hole back by 5 and we waited on every tee box. Only negative.

First of all, the parking lot was a mess! Water bottles and trash literally every where. I actually asked one of the cart guys and he was like, "they must've had an event yesterday and no one has cleaned".....ok......

The tee boxes were decent. Standard damage, but still in good shape.

The fairways need some love. They were all cut up, bare in a lot of spots and muddy in others.

The sand traps were for the most part in good shape. Only 1 or 2 were compacted.

The greens rolled nicely but were wet all day.

I would give this course some time to repair and hopefully gets back to good shape.

NOTE: It's "that time of year" for golf courses throughout Las Vegas- the end of what was a brutally hot Summer and everyone is now prepping for the cooler months ahead. Finding an open course in great shape is next to impossible for recreational golfers at this time who don't want to spend $100s, so be prepared and patient wherever you play and by October we should have great golf throughout the valley again.
Red Rock is in fair shape (Sept. 3)- fairways crosscut in places, prepped for overseeding so you'll find mud on your ball on many fairway hits. We just lift, clean and place and enjoy our day. The greens were sanded and aerated on Sept. 1, so they should be nice again mid-month. Rough was damp and thick, which isn't too unusual for the Arroyo course, but several times we needed a couple of us helping each other to locate balls hit into the rough. Sand is still "iffy"- some bunkers OK, many others strewn with rocks and/or crusty throughout. This is the only consistent gripe about Red Rock Arroyo, as the rest of the course is usually a joy to play. Again, we cheat and just remove rocks or place the ball in a similar lie near the spot where we ended up in order to not ding up our clubfaces. Purists will sneer, but we're happy being casual golfers.
The course has survived the intensely hot Summer, unlike quite a few others in the valley that are hurting, and should be playing sweet again later this month. In the meantime, it's still a good choice compared to conditions I've encountered elsewhere.

Play day 08/14/21 9:45, finished at 2:00 our group followed another 4some- must be busy up front, but it’s not bad. Humidity was up in high 90s- 102.
Arroyo GC Red Rock was once a good and well maintained golf course. The spread in between holes were not bad as we’re always in a cart. Many times over the past six years or so, their conditions gradually became lower and lower to a point that it’s difficult to ignore hoping it comes back to good again. So whenever I get the chance I keep trying to see if things have turned around- nope, only disappointment.
The greens are pelted with ball marks and it seems no one caress- fresh and old ball marks are evident of careless patrons- sad. But I have to say that there were a couple of greens late in the back that weren’t so bad.
Most if not all the bunkers were just terrible- you don’t have to be in it to be able to say they are bad, and it’s pretty terrible with rocks and pebbles with hardly any sand in it.
The fairways were wet grounds mixed in barren and spots of grass growing so the ball gets muddy and we were playing in between grass in a barren lie. It looks like many fairway grass were in some type of disease- I’m not sure what it is but it does not look good nor play good.
Most of the teeing grounds were okay from the black tees and many areas of the rough were lush and about 3 inches in height which was the better part of the course.
The beverage cart came around a couple of times or more, and the staff were okay and helpful.
I really wish this course would turn around and be good again. $109 visitors rate is a bad joke and not even a good joke in a resident rate. I would rather drive another half hour away for a better golfing experience rather than to be trapped in a course such as this one.

Played the last 2 Fridays (4/16 6:30am and 4/23 9:10am) with similar conditions. One of the knocks about Arroyo is it's status as little sister to the private Red Rock Country Club (Mountain Course), which is next door. The courses share a 2 sided, all grass, full size range, however, Arroyo customers have to drive pass the private side and along a path dividing the range and the private's 1st hole. Your head needs to be on a swivel and the windshield up as there's a chance of a ball coming from 3 directions. The private members will definitely let you know if you take a wrong turn and end up at their range or practice green. Another knock is the putting green. They recently removed the green by the 1st tee, leaving only the 1 by pro shop/grill. That green is really small (think small backyard green), flat, and with like 4 holes. The last is some of the long drives between holes. The 1st tee is half a mile from the clubhouse, which you never pass during the round. After the 6th, you head back, but there's about 5 long drives between green and next tees.

The course conditions have been consistently good to great for the past year. The fairways are green, lush, with no bare areas. The rough is thick and penal, and not easy to hit out. The greens were a bit slower than usual last week, and showed some signs of recent aeration, however, yesterday, they were back up to their almost fast speed. Tee boxes are typical for a course with lots of play: the par 3s are a bit beat up but all the others are really good. My biggest criticism of Arroyo is the bunkers. They may be the worst bunkers in Vegas. Thin, hard packed dirt with lots of rocks. Yesterday, I hit a bunker shot on 13 that pulled up the liner.

Overall, I really like Arroyo. There's some fun holes, with some reachable par 5s if you hit good drives and some short par 4s that require precision that is paid off if you hit a great drive over clubbing down. Supposedly, there's a bunker renovation on the horizon this summer. We will see.

Red Rock Arroyo is dependably in good condition, and even more so now (4/15/21) as I think this is as good as I've ever seen it! The layout is enjoyable, interesting, and on occasion, scenic as well. Use of the range is included, has good balls and you warm up hitting on grass. Nice! It's quite a drive to it from the clubhouse and also to the 1st tee, though, so allow a little more time for your prep.
The fairways are plenty wide enough and always green (except during overseeding, of course), and today was no exception. The rough is thick and lush, about 2 1/2 inches long, which means the ball will sit down but good contact and some extra distance allowance will still give decent results to us intermediate golfers with average swing speeds. Sometimes it gets longer and then we can have a difficult time finding our balls in it and it becomes a hack and slash to get out- but not today. Somewhat penal, especially when chipping around the green, but by no means unfairly so.
Tee boxes were fine and the greens were really, really nice. Typically, Red Rock Arroyo is pretty fast and it's difficult to hole out because shorter putts will easily wander offline on the subtle slopes and imperfections around the holes, but I think the medium speed we mere mortals encountered today was a delight. I never had anything veer offline and our regular group didn't have to putt as defensively as usual. The usual ball marks pepper the greens, as they're nice and responsive to approach shots- but they exist from uncaring players, not an uncaring staff. I'll try to fix a few when I'm waiting to putt.
All the bunkers we were in had been recently dragged and filtered and were in very good condition with the exception of the greenside one at #18 which is still full of rocks and pebbles. Probably they just haven't got to that one yet...
It was a very enjoyable round, which we completed in 4 1/2 hours- and that was only because we had a cart die out and had to wait for a replacement- we still only had to let one group go through as the response to our call in was quick and we were on our way again in short order.
Nice course, near perfect conditions, great staff- very highly recommended!

Always enjoy my round at Arroyo- the conditions are dependably nice and the layout and aesthetics are enjoyable. The first tee is a long ways from the clubhouse and the practice area is a little remote, so allow a little extra time for your pre-game warmup. But you get to hit off of grass, the balls are complimentary, and normally they're in decent shape. The staff is always helpful, professional and friendly, too.
The fairways are well-maintained with just the right amount of generosity. The rough is lush and dense, and has been cut back to a good length. Still not always easy, but playable, with some difficult areas here and there. I hope they keep it this way. There were times in the past when play would slow because of the ball-searching and "hack it out" conditions of the Arroyo rough.
The greens are receptive enough and quick and challenging without being unfair. You may find an occasional putt that will break off within the last 6 inches of the hole (because of the "volcano effect" of the morning crew pulling the plug out and not tamping the surrounding ground back down?) so the holes do play a little smaller if you're one who likes to "die" it in (like me *groan*). But they never place them in penal locations where 3-footers break a foot and a half, or misses roll back to your feet or keep trickling forever until they're 9 feet past.
The bunkers are a little inconsistent, but they do play OK in general. There are some patches of hardness with no "give" here and there, which is a common horror here in Vegas when the winds have scoured out a trap. There are, however, many that are littered with rocks and patches where the filter cloth in the bottom is sticking out of the sand. I was told there was a rumor that they will re-do them this year. If so, that would push The Arroyo from "nice" into "superb" territory. It's still a top-notch facility and a pleasure to play just the way it is.
All in all, The Arroyo has always been one of my "go-to" places to play for a good, solid round of golf. Very much recommended.
