Played 9/30 on the first tee time of the day. On reserving, weren’t told that course was in the middle of overseeding, so much of the Pointe nine was sloppy wet, with many bare areas. Cart path only made for a lot of walking. This nine is a mix of resort-style holes through a housing development and the middle portion playing through arroyos and along a ridgetop. Ample hitting areas in each case – greens were firm and quick. The red sand in the bunkers is very grainy and was wet, which took some getting used to. Water hazards on many holes. The second nine, Blackrock, was a mixture of parkland, with large trees, and a series of holes through a lava bed, in stark contrast. Still a lot of casual water in many areas, but greens were again in pretty good shape. Our first time here, and no yardage book or GPS available, and course is poorly marked once you get out on it, so getting distances and choosing clubs was difficult. Recently sodded areas around many greens. In better condition, this could be a pretty good deal ($39 on a Saturday morning – I don’t know if this is the regular rate or an ‘overseed’ special), but before I come back I’ll call ahead and get a report on conditions. No cart girl. No ranger that I remember. Staff could be more interested. Apparently, no one in Utah fills a divot or fixes a ballmark. We could have spent 15 minutes on each green fixing marks, and used an entire canister of divot mix on each hole. A stunning lack of attitude by the very people who complain loudest about course conditions.
