I didn't play Wolf Creek yet, but I consider Conestoga Golf right now one of the the best, challenging, scenic and fun to play golf courses I ever played.
Some of the holes are masterfully designed around the typical desert landscape.
Conditions of the course were great, pace of play too (I played single under 3.5 hours).
A must play for everyone going to Mesquite or Las Vegas area.
Do not miss it!!

Played Tues 2/28 10am tee time. Hard time finding the course as the course did not show up on our car gps and the exit noted on their direction was closed due to construction. It rained on the way from Vegas to Mesquite and probably due to cold and windy conditions, course was not too busy when we finally got there. We were joined by a resident player which truely helped. Carts don't have gps and my golf gps did not have this course as they have been open for only about 3 years or so. Starter does give out yardage book to each player which is much needed due to unique design features here.
In spite of the bad weather, we loved the course. Course is very scenic, some target golf mixed with some wide open fairways. Also loved hitting driver straight down wind on a couple of holes but certainly paid for it hitting into it too. condition of tees, fairways and greens are probably the best winter condition we've seen in quite a while. For winter condition it was great but I guess the best time to play would be late March early April time frame.
Would love to go back and play it again and would recommend others to play it as well.

8 of us decided to come up to Mesquite for our annual summer golf trip instead of Palm Springs and we played this course on Wed 8/24/11. You can tell it's a new course by how thin the grass is, but all in all a fun experience. Several blind tee shots to be aware of (#4 & #17). The Par 3 10th was a test of your manlyhood, 200+/- yds all carry over water. We had the 19th hole experience which was a great one and actually came back the next day after playing Wolf Creek for the $1 pints on Thursdays from 4-8.

Played 8/10/11: CURRENT GREEN conditions! JUST punched the day before, the pro shop let us know when we checked in, wouldn't offer a discount since we booked our tee time via the internet $35 per player....not a twilight rate either just the heat of the summer!

I wish golf courses would ONLY punch HALF the green, leave the OTHER half of the green UN-punched till the green heals. Certain holes, maintenance workers were using shovels to remove the excess sand...:( Not as bad as it sounds but disappointing though NOT having actual greens to putt on (Invoked the automatic two putt rule).

The NEW Clubhouse is opened for the golf course, no more trailers or a gravel parking lot, completely paved with a bag drop. I PREFER to carry my own bag(2) from the car to the bag drop guys. (Pet peeve of mine, I can CARRY my own STAFF Bag & my wife's bag and place on a golf cart...Why do I NEED to have TWO guys run over to my car, rush me 2 get my bag then to make me obligated to tip them for SOMETHING I'm physically able to do? Gee....How DID they CLUBS EVER get in the car when I left my house???)

Excellent practice facility "GRASS", nice chipping area & putting green too. Don't recall seeing a sand bunker to practice out of...

I've played this course many different ways: The ORIGINAL layout makes the front 9 holes target golf, very demanding, you have to think your way off the tee box! Put the driver away, use a 3 wood or 2 hybird on some of the holes to avoid making a BIG number.

Playing this side first makes the front 9 play very slooooooooooww... The course tried reversing the 9's, have everyone start on the PAR 3 10th hole which is difficult for most people to start your round on, lots of water to carry from 190 yards! Bail out to the right & scramble to make par. Followed by a 460 PAR 4 (GOLD) into the wind. At least starting on this side you have 16 holes left to catch your rhythm with an easy par 5 on the 3rd hole...whereas IF you start the way the original layout was set up for, scrambling to save bogey on holes #3  THEN IRONICALLY I Birdied #5 after being forced to LAYUP, played smart because of the DEEP trenches to carry or to avoid!

Other than the greens being punched just the day before, this is a MUST play Golf Course! The scenery, the rocks which were brought in are very large boulders, been told the cost was over a Million dollars alone to install the large boulders..

VERY DISAPPOINTED with the bunkers!!! wow....from Fluffy when the course opened till the current conditions of VERY HARD PAN DRIED CRUSTY CONDITIONS....It's more than simply raking the bunkers....Maintenance needs to look (at) bringing back to at least some kind of playable condition.

BEST DEAL: $2.00 for well defined yardage books from the Pro shop when you check in. Prism's on the flagsticks and NO GPS on the carts so bring your own lasers/gps units...HIGHLY recommend the yardage books so u know where & what yardages you need to be playing to avoid certain hazards.

The winds pick up in the afternoon, so take advantage of the downwind holes!

This is the newest course to the many in Mesquite/St George. Managed by Troon Golf and inside a Del Webb community. Brand new clubhouse with a nice 19th hole. We played 6/16/11 for $35 and received a wonderful experience. Weather was perfect and from the minute you hand your clubs to the attendant, check in and finish playing, you will have a truly great time. Even for $35 they treat you like a member at a private club. They have 5 sets of tees. The longest at 7,232 with a 74.9 rating and slope of 147 if you want it? Each player is provided with four bottles of water (more on the course); wet towel; yardage book, bag tag and course instructions. When you are finished they clean your clubs, so please remember to tip. It is a beautiful setting, with dramatic canyons and wonderful views from everywhere. Gary Panks did the design (for those that care) and did a great job. Many compare it to Wolf Creek, but I disagree, as it has it's own flavor/feel to it. The best thing in my opinion was the roll to the fairways. If you hit a good drive, you are rewarded with extra distance, something I find lacking on many courses. That extra distance will aid in your enjoyment, regardless of your skill level. All 18 holes are truly unique. I will touch on only a few. All the par 3's are great. There is no GPS but you are provided with a great yardage book, so make sure you use it. The greens are large and mostly flat, with very few undulations and putt true and straight. The winter rye grass is almost gone on the greens and the bermuda has filled in nice and green. All the holes are right there for you to see and the yardage book and sprinkler heads provide distances. I suggest you also drive up and look at the hole (if you can) if you have any questions. Number 2 is a great par 3 at 188 yards (tips) that plays off a high bluff and the green is some 100 yards below. Number 4 is 394 (tips) that has a split fairway with an invisible 50 fifty foot drop off to the fairway below. Number 6 is a par 5 at 536 (tips) that is somewhat unique. There are three separate fairways, with bridged washes and a well bunkered green. A challenging hole to say the least. On the back, number 14 is a par 3 at 148 yards (tips) that sets on a ledge and the green sits in a bowl surrounded by cliffs. Number 15 is a par 4 at 460 (tips) that sits about 65 feet above the dogleg left hole, so let it fly here. Especially if the wind is behind you. Both of us had drives that made us feel like the pros. Number 16 is 472 (tips) downhill with a wash dividing the fairway with 100 yards left to the hole. Be careful of how far you drive it here. In my opinion, those of you who golf and enjoy finding new courses, will not be disappointed with your day of golf on this course. And yes the cart girl comes by at least 3 times during each 9, depending upon how many players there are that day and they have a great snack shack after 9. I know that we will go back and play this course again in the fall, after the summer heat is gone.

A couple years from now it will be a top course in the area. Big potential, but I disagree with the previous reviewer, -it is not as good as Wolf Creek, but not too far behind and you will score better.
The club house, driving range and staff all both top-notch and the course will certainly get there soon.

Must play at least once. Just as nice as Wolf Creek except Wolf Creek doesn't have any houses around it.

Did not detract from the overall experience however. There is no GPS on the carts, but we were given a yardage book which really helped. What a spectacular course, particularly the front 9. Quite challenging, but playable at the same time. Service was top notch- saw the cart girl 5 times, and the clubhouse staff was excellent- got offered a cold towel at the end of the round (105 degrees that day) which was the perfect capper. Cannot wait till this course matures, we will be back
