Enjoyed this course very much. The front nine is a little target style in my opinion but the back nine is more wide open. The course looks very lush but some of the fairways are a little thin at times. the greens putted good but seemed to slow down on the back nine.
Great customer service and a nice practice facility with a chipping area and a large putting green

Played as part of a 14 Player group. Customer Service is TOP Notch and you get a great country club feel from this property. Coming in, they set your clubs up, give you a nice bag tag, yardage book and 4 waters per cart. Then you proceed to the complimentary grass driving range and bang some balls. On the first tee, there was a marshall there who gave our groups some quick tips on how to approach the course. Note: course design on holes 2-6 causes some backups ---- marshall kept all groups well onto the first tee to minimize this, but still gonna happen. Course is BEAUTIFUL. Layout is somewhat difficult as if you are not an average hitter off the tee box (meaning to me you can carry at least 150-170 yards) you better push up ahead of the normal "white" tee boxes. Many holes require at least a 150 ish carry off the tee that can frustrate you very quickly if you don't bang it. Now if you are a LONG hitter off the tee (meaning to me your average drive is 260+, you are going to have sections of this course that will frustrate you. There are a number of holes where you will have to lay back off the tee to around the 220 ish neighborhood. For those that like to bang it, this could frustrate you a little bit. Tee boxes were in very good shape, normal amount of divots on the par 3's for a high end course, but overall were level and you could find a good spot to hit from. Fairways - were in really good shape considering it was mid June, and actually would have been happy with them anytime of the year. No bare spots to note and there was ample grass to be able to hit your ball well. Bunkers --- were in pretty good shape and fairly consistent to hit out of. Greens --- OK, they frustrated me a little bit. We were playing the weekend before the course was scheduled to be closed for aeration for a couple of days. Not sure if this was the reason, or just the time of the year, but I really did not care for how the greens were maintained. It was almost like you were hitting off glass. Not that they were lightning fast as they were not by any means, but the grass was cut so close it was next to impossible to really judge any grain or break (other than slope). Putted balls didn't seem to roll, but merely slide over the top. Felt very uncomfortable standing over putts and this is normally not the case for me. Was really the only detracting part of the course. Wind --- if the wind is blowing as it was for us on the back 9, course is really difficult to manage. With the desert target style on many holes, the elevation changes and forced carry, playing here in the wind is really not much fun.... Not that playing in the wind is fun anywhere, but really makes the backside of this course more difficult than it needs to be. So get out early before any afternoon winds. Overall this is a nice track and if you are playing multiple days in the area, I would definitely put it into the rotation. Troon service at its' finest, with great service from Parking Lot to Green and in the clubhouse.

Played Sunday, June 9th, in a 24 man outing of sequential tee times starting at about 9:30am. The staff had our carts ready with each of us getting a bag tag, divot fixer, and yardage book which was definitely a nice bonus. They also took pictures of each group on the first tee along with each individual's tee shot that was available for purchase. There was a huge grass driving range with complimentary range balls and a very large practice putting/chipping green. The weather was extremely hot and made for crispy conditions. The course was dry and hard and the greens were fairly speedy. Only well struck tee shots would hold. The tee boxes were level and mostly divot free. The rough was short. The layout was challenging with lots of forced carries. There were a lot of risk/reward opportunities. I enjoyed the course very much and would definitely recommend this course. My one complaint was that we saw the marshal come around several times during the front 9 and each time we asked him for ice, he answered no. He had a large ice chest on the back of his cart and I felt that he should've gone to the clubhouse, replenished, and provided some cold relief for our groups. It was definitely needed considering the weather was about 110F!

Played Friday, 6/7, with a 11:00 tee time. 1st stop of our Mesquite/St George trip and it was hot! Customer service was great. Met at the bag drop, easy check in and free range balls. Starter was friendly, with helpful course tips, wet towels, and free yardage books. Course is in full summer mode. Tee boxes were level and mostly divot free. Fast fairways, with a few brown spots. Rough is short, watch for run out into the desert areas. Sand was OK, easy to hit out of, with a little crust from the heat. Greens were just OK, not bad but not great. Medium speed, with some ball marks. Pace was right at 4.5 hours, with only a few waits.

I really like the layout of this course. Good risk/reward and a little thinking to play well. The greens are just average, or this course would be "great" instead of "really good." Still a great stop in the area.

Played here yesterday as the last part of our trip. For anyone who's played Wolf Creek (known as "The Wolf" according to some of the locals who were gambling with us at Virgin River), Conestoga is it's Little Sister.

Apparently, this place is becoming a locals favorite and the pace of play is suffering (this came from the starter). Falcon Ridge apparently used to be the "go to" for the locals but Conestoga has taken that title.

Tee boxes - there is no black here despite the card and book showing it. Gold is the back. Course is relatively short - even from the gold. Boxes were above average. I think the majority of people play from the whites or greens here though, so I can't speak to those boxes. Few slim boxes, but for the most part there was plenty of room to maneuver and get your shot selection picked and visualized. Not a lot of divots. 9/10.

Fairways - i would characterize them as average. Some were lush and some were thin. Being 110+ degrees though I can understand the difficulty with keeping them up. Apparently Conestoga just got a new maintenance manager 3 weeks ago so they're just trying to get it up to par. 7/10 on the fairways.

Greens - they have a little work to do here. The starter did say that they were going to be punching on the 23rd or 24th, don't remember the exact date, so it makes sense that they were letting them go a little in order to get a good punch in. Will give them a low rating, but this is a place that I would like to see again in a few months/next year to see how it's looking then. 5/10.

Rough - Rough was pretty close to the grass (sod) in your front yard here in socal. Not too bad to hit out of and a few patchy spots. The desert rough was well maintained and clean. 8/10 here.

Sand - this was pretty close to what we saw at Tuscany. Might as well have hit off concrete. 3/10.

Overall - this place was pretty nice. Pace of play was slow, average is a 5 hr round here. Think this is more due to the layout than the people playing but that's just my opinion. If you've never played here before, get a book and play the numbers. Course is not overly difficult but there are definitely a few things that I would do different having played there now. Overall, 7/10.

Excellent practice facility! ALL grass, no mats! Very large putting green, separate chipping/pitching area located near the 1st tee box and the Starter does a nice job of finding players prior to their tee times.

Tees: I normally play the GOLD but moved up to Silver since the other player had not seen the course, I thought it would speed up play that way.

POP: Since we were basically one of the first groups off the twi-light rate, we barely played #16, took out the YELLOW golf balls! #17 was total darkness so we headed back to the clubhouse...

LAYOUT: Since the front nine is basically TARGET golf for several golf holes, POP is horrendously slow! Originally the course was designed to start on what is NOW the BACK 9 which is more open, less target golf.

With that said, Troon Golf/Conestoga is trying something different. The BACK up begins on Holes #3,4,5 & 6. The first TWO are not a problem. The current policy is to DELAY the groups teeing off by waiting for the entire group in front to ACTUALLY reach the green (380) yards away before the NEXT group tees off! The THEORY or LOGIC is so there are not three & four groups waiting on the PAR 3. INSTEAD? We found 3 groups waiting on holes # 3 & #4.

So we complied, waiting for the group to reach the green..Keep in mind, we are now waiting to tee off almost 10-15 minutes past our tee time! If the group in front EACH takes 4 shots to reach the green, it could be a longer wait.

The back up occurs in my opinion due to the fact that holes #3 is rated (3 HDCP) and #4 is rated (9 HDCP) these need to be reversed by the Nevada Golf Association.
Hole #4 forces you to lay up off the tee, your 2nd/approach shot is a BLIND shot to the fairway/green below. You cannot see IF the players are below or just short of the green.

Here is where the TIME is lost!!! Carts are not allowed past the 180 yard marker, players have no idea where their tee shots landed, you MUST hit over the WOODEN fence (140 yard marker) SHOULD your tee shot land too close to the wooden fence, the rough is so thick most players grab ALL the wrong clubs from the cart THINKING all they need is one or two clubs then find out, they need a much longer club.

Hole #6 is NOTORIOUS for being a SECOND back up wait! It's a Par 5 but players MUST decide to lay up to the CORRECT LANDING are or risk the ALL CARRY/HERO SHOT from say 250 yards to get to the THIRD safe landing area.

Once past these little bottle neck, the course starts to open up and could play faster. However so much time is lost on the front nine, players start to get lazy.

BUNKERS: I'm giving them a POOR rating because these are ALL hard, crusty and all that is needed is to "TURN" or cultivate the sand by the maintenance crew and they'll be in much better conditions.

GREENS: were medium to slow speed and showed signs at the time recovering from some kind of maintenance. Normally the speed is faster and identical to the putting green speed.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Bag drop off is easy, carts right there to be loaded and checkin easy with the pro shop staff.

Since we did not have time to grab dinner after our twilight round, we came back the next day to sample the food. Highly recommend even though it's a limited lunch/dinner menu. I decided to try their Meatloaf dinner. WOW, very impressed!
The only drawback was we were forced to sit out on the patio since there was a private event taking place inside. The flies were also trying to enjoy our dinner. :(
Luckily the temps were cool, enjoyed the setting sun over the buttes.

* IF you can, get your hands on a FREE limited yardage book * IF for anything, will help with the layout & landing areas.

We'll always be back when we are in the area, you won't be disappointed...

The guys in my group built this place up a bit and it pretty much lived up to my expectations. Great condition and amenities. Great customer service also and the best deal we got on our trip to Mesquite/ St George. To be fair it was cartpath only due to overseeding but it was alot of fun to play with some elevation changes and interesting layouts.

Course was in good condition considering the time of year and the overseeding. Would definately play here again.

I've been wanting to play this course for awhile and found an opportunity to tee it up with JohnT when our families met up for a "staycation" in Mesquite. With only a 2 day notice, found a Saturday morning tee time for $30, but thanks to GK, knew the greens were just punched on Monday.

Unfortunately, Mesquite in July/August is typically 110 degrees plus, and the course showed it. August is also when Vegas/Mesquite courses start preparing to overseed. Tee boxes were overgrown, but with little amount of divot damage. Greens were punched and sanded, slow, and putts bounced around. There were some brown spots around the green collars, and in the fairways. Some of the fairways have also been punched, however, most were in good condition, with little damage and decent lies. Rough was short tee to green.
Bunkers were in great shape, with fluffy sand and no rocks.

Even with the conditions, I had a great time. The course layout is awesome. It runs through a Sun City community, but the houses are barely noticeable on the few holes that they are present. One complaint, there are 2 or 3 blind tee shots, that if you don't stop and look from the black tees, you have no idea if the landing areas are clear. With an empty course, we had no idea we caught the foursome ahead of us when a tee shot rolled into them. I hate unknowingly hitting into a group worse then being hit into.

Customer service was great. Allen the starter asked if we wanted to get out early when we checked in, and came over to the free driving range to see if we had warmed up. Got us out about 20 minutes early and we cruised around in just over 3 1/2 hours, after being waved through a couple and a foursome. The $2 yardage book is a MUST (thanks ATG).

I can't wait to get out here in November after overseeding. Tough to recommend with current conditions, but $30 is still a steal on this course. Definitely the 2nd best course in Mesquite.

I was on a trip with 16 guys this past weekend. Conestoga was our first stop on Thursday 7/12 in the afternoon. The course was not busy at all, and the starter was excellent. He was very animated, and informational on the ins and outs of the course. Now I do understand Mesquite is similar to AZ and the Palm Springs that it is very difficult to keep a course in perfect shape in the summer. This course was in great shape. The greens were a tad bumpy but they had been bunched about 3 weeks prior, and in my opinion, were immaculate for that little timeframe. The golf course was very challenging, but fair. The 2nd Hole Par 3 is one of the best I've ever played. We did have a constant 30-40 MPH wind all day with gusts over 50 MPH so that made it a little interesting. But overall, a great experience, great pace of play, and great customer service.
