What ever you do make the trip to Spokane and play this gem of a public, inexpensive golf course......As I got out of my ride from the hotel and saw what I saw from the nice clubhouse, I was in awe. The view looking down both the first and tenth tees with tall trees lining the fairways, and a view of Spokane made me realize I made the right choice to play here and not the much more expensive course 38 miles away in Coeur d'Alene. Simply WOW!
Despite massive trees lining every hole the course is not too tough, and not long from tee to green. But that is where any notion of "easy" ends. The greens could be toughest greens I have ever putted on. So tough that the 3 regulars whom I played with said that they have buddies who refuse to play here due to the tough tough greens. On the 17th hole, a short tight dog leg left par 4, I hit a perfect drive with only a pitch to the green. The pin was located on a plateau in the back of the green. What I thought was a great pitch came up a hair short and then proceeded to roll back down to the very front of the green. Thankfully, I made a great two putt for par. Courses on sides of mountains almost always have tough greens. This course is exhibit A of this. Truth is, I was so mesmerized by this gorgeous layout, I did not care about the 4 three putts I had.
I would love to travel here and play this course with my own clubs. Ooops I forgot about the conditions.....The conditions where fantastic!! Play here in the summer or early fall. During the rest of the year with the shorter days and almost daily frost delays, the window of opportunity to play shrinks dramatically. This course has got my vote as a slice of heaven...

Fantastic course. Don't let the yardage fool you. It's similar to Pasatiempo in that regard. It plays longer than the card. The course doesn't not have fairway bunkers and doesn't need them as the fairways leave you with all kinds of different lies, uphill, downhill, sidehill.

The greens are incredible in design and the routing of the holes in the canyon are genius. Chandler Egan, the course architect and two time US Amateur champion, also redesigned Pebble Beach as we know it today, gave Spokane a masterpiece.

The conditions on 06/19/2022 were great. A little soft, but I can't complain. Love this place!
