Late review but got to play here on Black Friday 2021 on a discounted prepaid (through text deal club) 10:40am tee time with picture perfect weather in Sedona. Course was packed but didn’t show it as people were generally moving along at a good pace. This course really is amazing with the conditions they present day in and day out, it’s a fair test of golf, and of course those amazing views nearly everywhere you look.

Tee boxes: Good shape generally for the blue tee boxes. No one really plays the tips here outside of the wannabes and faux golf bloggers, so the blues receive heavy use and rarely show it. No specific issues just general wear and tear.

Fairways: Beautifully lush and visually pleasing. Roll was fair, though they do have a fair amount of condensation on them so ball won’t get tons of extra yardage. Lies are always good.

Rough: Penal even if it doesn’t look it. Grabbed my club pretty hard under the tree canopies. Better to just take your medicine.

Sand: My only real issue with this course. They use reddish dirt (don’t qualify this as sand) that when wet, has the consistency of barro or adobe. Bunkers play totally different than anything you’d see in normal courses.

Greens: Simply amazing. They look visually perfect and are perhaps a shade under that when you play them. Speeds and breaks are tricky to read, roll is pure. Large greens at times with a fair amount of challenges on pull direction. A joy to putt on!

ETC: No frills here, just golf. Everything on the ETC side is adequate but not flashy. Range is basic, puttying green is good, short game area works. Clubhouse has what you need in the basics and staff is friendly. Ample parking every time I am here. Layout is fun and has a nice variety of holes. Conditions are always good (they don’t overseed in Sedona) and you can play here almost all year even at 4500 feet. Highly recommend and will miss this course being so close.

Got to sneak out yesterday (8/19) and play Oakcreek with my father in-law on a 12:30pm tee time on an unusually but wonderfully cool day in Sedona with a slight breeze all day that didn't affect club selection. Staff here is always friendly and those in the know can sign up for wonderful email/text deals that although prepaid, offer great discounts on this course, even better than GolfMoose/UnderPar deals. Got out a few minutes early in spite of the fact course parking lots were packed and there seemed to be more play here than at any time previous.

Tees: Mixed bag as some of the blue tees we played were chewed up quite a bit, hole 8 comes to mind. Others weren't nearly as bad but better conditions are expected here as almost all the holes have tee marker locations that bring untrimmed trees into play, so you need those extreme edges of the turf between the markers to shape shots and avoid branches on your tee shot.

Fairways: Excellent condition. This has been an unusually stormy monsoon season and no more than 24 hours before my tee time, Sedona got pelted with heavy rain so the fairways were plenty soggy (imagine walking on a firm waterbed) but very playable, as maintenance crews here do well with pumping water out of play. Roll wasn't nearly as good as it was last time I played here with Matt P., but lies were still good.

Rough: Depending on what part of the course, it could be fairly penal. There are tons of trees here so the areas directly under or next to the canopy of trees are always thicker and harder to get out of. More than a few times I simply took my medicine and hit a wedge out, it was that thick.

Sand: The most disappointing part of the course. Naturally, this course (as well as Sedona GR and even Seven Canyons) uses red rock dirt in its sand and after a rainstorm, it's the last place you want to be in. It's rock hard, doesn't drain well, and the "sand" makes it impossible in greenside bunkers. Thankfully was only in one bunker and it was a fairway one so it wasn't awful, but they could stand to add tons more sand (or dirt if they so wish) to the bunkers.

Greens: The highlight of the round; they were visually pleasing, rolled incredibly well (with speeds varying from med-slow to incredibly fast), and tested you just enough to keep you on your toes.

ETC: As mentioned, staff is friendly. Carts have ice in chests and ball cleaners, but no GPS. Saw a beverage cart for the first time ever and they are encouraging people to call in food orders on #8 so you can easily swing by restaurant and pick it up at the turn. Lots of parking behind the clubhouse. Small and intimate property with amazing scenery. Pace of play here is always good. To give you an example, today was the slowest round I have ever played here and it was still a touch under 4 hours. Highly recommend.

Played my GK match here against mpisarski01 yesterday (6/12) on a 6:57 tee time. Weather was absolutely perfect at tee off; low 60's and cool, never reaching 90 degrees by the time we finished (in less than 3 hours!). Love this course so much because pace here when you tee off early is always spectacular and conditions are never bad, even after having punched less than 2 weeks ago.

Tees: Good shape for the blues this day. No major infractions outside of overwatering on a few holes, otherwise they would have been perfect.

Fairways: Still look like carpet; plush, green, good roll and most importantly, no bad lies at all. Kudos to the maintenance staff here.

Rough: Thick! Matt and I found out just how bad it was in our match. It will absolutely grab your club. The rough under the canopy of trees is very penal.

Sand: Meh. The sand here is nothing to write home about. The sand looks like clay (thank you red rocks) and plays differently than the white fluff you find at other courses. There isn't enough of it in my opinion, but better bunker players may disagree.

Greens: Shockingly good! GK was spot on with the punch date of 6/1, but the marks were minimal on the green and didn't affect the line or roll of a single putt all day. In a week or two, they will be back to perfect here!

ETC: Carts with ice in chests but no GPS. This is a walkable course, especially the front 9, for all you exercise junkies. Staff here friendly. No beverage cart but did see a water bottle fill-up station on 15 (even has UV light protection). Restrooms there as well, which makes sense as they flipped the nine's here about 10 years ago (beware as photos on GK are from BEFORE they flipped them) so it was on the old 6th. Driving range and good practice green available. Pretty much all about golf here. Great layout and highly recommend using the GolfMoose/UnderPar deal they have right now.

Played Oakcreek on 3/23/21. The Golf course was in excellent shape. I was the cold week and it snowed on us on the par 3 number 4. Challenging holes and every shot is scenic. Rough is not bad and traps are fluffy. Would love to play it more if I lived closer. If your a single player its $125 but if you use their internet special if you have 2 golfers its only $97.50 per golfer. Well worth the rate either way! Enjoy an I cannot wait to be back

Played here on Black Friday 2020 on an cool but sunny day of about 60 degrees, minimal wind, on a 10:40am tee time using the Golf Moose deal with my father in-law. I enjoy this course the more I play it and today only added to the enjoyment factor. Course was in excellent shape and the greens here were some of the best I have seen (condition-wise) since Pasatiempo and Spyglass in August. Overall the course is in great shape and with the GM deal until the end of the year, it's the time to play.

Tee boxes: Decent shape but the blue tee boxes here are generally chewed up some as they receive the most play at ~6200 yards. They weren't awful, but more than a few tees, especially the par 3's, were beat up.

Fairways: Excellent shape. Rarely a bad lie, good true roll, visually pleasing to the eye, divots fixed by most golfers, a pleasure to hit from.

Rough: Fairly long and penal, at times what hurt more than the length/thickness of the rough is the fact it is riddled with leaves from a long fall in tree lined fairways. Overall though, if you know when to take your medicine, it's not going to kill your game.

Sand: Desert sand just isn't for me. Bunkers here rarely have tons of sand in them and when they do it's red rock dirt; compact, often wet, and not fun to hit out of.

Greens: The absolute highlight of the round. They were stunning to look at and far more jaw-dropping to putt on. I'm no judge of stimp, but they rolled quickly and breaks were at times beyond tricky! I can't count how many three-putts there were this day.

ETC: Facilities operating at Sedona-level COVID regulations, not AZ level...which is to say, they are actually using facemasks in the pro shop, at the cart collection area, etc. Staff was all friendly. Carts have no GPS but DO have club wash, good power. No on-course water, so make sure to stock up beforehand. Beverage cart came around 3 times; no food beyond basic granola bars and such. Grill does appear to be open and the front 9 does end in a place where you can easily go and pick up before the 10th tee. Fun and interesting layout, especially in the back 9. Highly recommend!

Loved this course. I felt it was in great shape. If you are a local I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. If you are visiting or planning to, put this course on the list to play.

Played here today (5/10) on a wonderfully sunny and breezy Mothers Day 2020 on an 8:30AM tee-time. COVID-19 precautions were in place at the course (clubhouse closed, grill take-out only, no cart attendant, pool noodle in cup [flag in], and no rakes/ball washers/coolers, though carts were available with confirmation of same household allowing shared carts. The golfers on the other hand didn't seem to concerned about social distancing; c'est la vie on that. Course, as it was the first time I played, was in excellent early Spring shape with amazing views of the red rocks making this the perfect setting for golf.

Tee boxes: Good shape with minimal un-level turf. No real issues from the blue tees.

Fairways: Excellent shape, especially considering you have no mix in carts. They were a wonderfully bold forest green with excellent coverage, good roll, and almost no bad lies.

Rough: Penal, no two ways about it. There were areas under the large trees that just grabbed your club hard and never let go. Take your medicine.

Bunkers: Only in one and got out fine. Visually the sand matches the red hues on the rocks that shadow the course from the north. No rakes due to COVID.

Greens: The certain highlight on a great day. They rolled true but weren't punishing. There were divot marks fixed everywhere and guys were doing the favor of fixing them all over. A pleasure to putt and try to read the breaks.

ETC: A wonderful course that warrants a visit when in Sedona. The Sedona Golf Resort and Seven Canyons get all the glory, but this course is actually WAY closer to the red rocks on more than a few holes (including the amazing 13th hole where you could almost touch the rocks). This place is generally in amazing shape and the pace is always great at just about 4 hours. Highly recommend.

Played here yesterday (11/27) again with my partner's father as the second leg of our golf adventures in Sedona. As neither of us had ever played here before, we weren't sure going in what to expect, except for the fact the course was only yards away from the iconic red rocks and that it would be cold. The course met my relatively low expectations and them some in terms of conditions and views. We had what was originally a 1PM tee time that may not have allowed us to finish, but we called ahead that morning and they let us out at 11:40 with an amazing 3.25 hour round. As for conditions: Tees: Good condition overall. This place isn't Seven Canyons so don't expect finely manicured tee boxes with perfectly mowed grass. It seems they get A LOT of play from the surrounding community as a lot of people just walk the course. With that being said, the turf was a bit chewed up from the tips. Nothing too crazy that would force you to move up to the next markers but good not great conditions. Fairways: Excellent shape. They were a beautiful hunter green color and offered lies that seems to push the ball up just the right amount (at least for my awkward swing). Roll was more than fair and everyone did a marvelous job of filling divots with excellent mix. Rough: A good mix of penal but not punishing. There is rough everywhere in this parkland-style course, though even more penal than the rough are all the other OB/red stake areas that come into play, including a good handful of water holes. Sand: Was in two bunkers today and as the last course I played in Sedona, some bunkers are red rock sand that is still somewhat soft, other bunkers are the more traditional pearl color sand with some fluff. No lack of sand or rakes today. There were some that had plenty of rocks, but the course does address this on the scorecard by designating those rocks as movable objects. Greens: Deceptive is the best way to describe them. Conditions were overall great; not many divot, clean roll, but the speed fooled me all day. Despite the natural slope and undulation of all the greens, the enormous red rock cliffs do play tricks with you. The greens were QUICK and they didn't slow at all during the day. The breaks weren't insane but the speed just got me scratching my head all day. ETC: Carts had a nice Google GPS on the drivers side windshield. Staff was very friendly and the pro shop seemed to have everything one could need. Didn't eat here but they had a nice sized restaurant right next door. Layout here is flat, parkland-style, but the views are breathtaking, especially if you have never seen the red rocks of Sedona up close before. Even on a 50 degree day that was overcast we got some amazing shots. Enjoyed this course and would come again for a good price. Edit: Upon closer inspection a lot of the wonderful course photos posted by a GK user in 2009 show the ORIGINAL layout; as of 2019 the course flipped the nines and you know start out play on what WAS 10 years ago!

Had not played here in many years, so it was fun to return to a course I have always enjoyed. The condition of the course is really nice, everything well manicured. The scenery is exceptional, which is part of the reason I love playing in Sedona.

Greens rolled well, but not as quick as I'd prefer. They were a mix of firm and soft? Only in one bunker, but it was well raked and had plenty of sand. Fairways were exceptional at times, with only a few areas needing attention.

Staff is friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this course
