Played the day after Turkey day. Went as a single and they got me out right away. Played with a Father and Son and a local to the area. Very nice people. This course has such amazing views, peaceful ambiance and tranquil feel to it. Beautiful pine trees and views of Morro Bay. The weather was outstanding. Sunny, 77 with a slight breeze. Perfect day. The fairways were in perfect shape, rolling out just a bit, nicely cut and all green! T boxes were also in great shape. The greens were some of the best I've seen. There were no ball marks to be seen anywhere! All were repaired by the players, how refreshing. They were firm, receptive and rolling very nicely. I had chances for Birdies but as the oldest of the group told me, to make birdies at Morro bay you need three things, A good line, good speed and a lot of luck. Very true as the greens have subtle breaks you have to respect, even the two footers! after all you are playing on a side of a mountain. Well worth it if you can play on a clear day! Epic, if you get up to Morro bay make it one of your tracks!

Course pretty easy and forgiving, but still fun with some challenges. Gorgeous views, little waiting, easy to get tee times, especially on line. The food is very good too. Prices on golf and food can't be beat, and are a great value.

What a breath of fresh air this course was. Some reviewers on here sneered at the idea this was considered the "poorman's Pebble." Maybe it wasn't, but for the green fees and the views as well as the condition this course is kept, it definitely beats any muni course here in L.A. Although the greens were a bit slow, not snail paced, but slow enough, then needed to be with the kind of breaks and slopes you're facing. I thoroughly enjoyed this course and would love to go back again in the near future. Great staff, friendly starter, and at 6:30am, you can finish in 4 hours easily... walking. It wasn't a difficult course, per say, but nice layout and very well maintained. A gem indeed.

For an inexpensive public course, the course is in very good shape. The greens, while a little slow, are rolling better than they have in a long time. The views of course are amazing, and the pace of play and availability of tee times is good. The food is also very good and reasonably priced.

Played 11/18/11 Heard that this was a "poor-man's Pebble Beach"! Well, the views certainly are splendid although the day we played, the sun never came out - it would have been truly spectacular otherwise. First nine has mostly blind tee-shots - that is, you cannot see the flag, so it helps to play with someone who knows the course. The starter kindly gave us a free yardage book, so that helped. Plenty of yardage markers and marked sprinkler heads help you choose your club. A very walkable course, there are few doglegs and mostly long par-3's. Its a parkland course with very few sand traps. Nice restaurant facilities for the 19th hole. Practice facility left something to be desired - slightly uphill teeing ground with sharply uphill range and smallish putting green. I thought some of the tee boxes were not level. But overall, a great old course and would go back there in heartbeat, especially in the summer months.

Always a pleasure to get up to the central coast and play Morro Bay. It's an incredible deal with incredible views. You don't need to bomb it on the course but it does require very precise 2nd shots into the right part of the greens for an easy 2 putt.

The fairways/greens/tees were all in excellent conditions. We played in the PM and the wind was howling. It's hard to complain about the wind when you're staring directly at the million dollar views.

Best part, barely anyone on the course. We could have finished under 4 but we took our sweet time.

Played mid-week on 9/1; teed it up at 1:45; just our threesome. They let a single out in front of us, but he was pretty quick and left after 9. This is one of the best munis I've ever played. For a hacker like me it was like a private club compared to my L.A. munis. Layout is interesting; not just a back & forth track. Doglegs left & right, uphill and downhill. And the views! I was plenty challenged from the whites with a 116 slope. The course is VERY forgiving as there is little water or bunkers even. No lost balls! The course protects itself on the lengthy par 3's and the greens. Everything, and I mean everything, slopes to the bay. Yes, that putt just looks like it went uphill! The track was in great shape from tee to green. The staff was super friendly. $33 included golf, cart & one free beer! And did I mention the views? No, it's not La Purisma or Hunter Ranch, but for 1/3 of the price it was perfect (of course I was also on vacation and in a really good mood!) Go and enjoy.

Did we really pay 33 bucks for this course? Is that big rock/island formation real from about 4 to 5 holes? Is that blue bay hypnotizing enough to forget that you still work for a living as opposed to play golf? Is Morro Bay golf the hidden gem? Yes yes and yes! I cannot wait to come up and play this course again. Yes, you probably need to bring out the big stick to hit the par 3s. And yes, you're probably going ot be 3 carts deep on the par 3s. But you'll have a view that'll be ingrained in your mind for months if not years.

The greens are in great shape for a muni. Even though you're putting uphill, if you're putting towards the ocean, brace yourself. Even the Sallies in our group kept putting off the green. Whoever rated the blues at 118 is smoking crack. Course is short on card but trust me, if you're not breaking 90s regularly, you should stick to the whites.

Again, must play in central coast if you're a view type of person. The track is challenging and affordable.
