Played 10/5, 9:24 start. Hot day, slow round (4:55). Apparently there was a tournament later in the day, and pins on the front nine were cut in some pretty ridiculous locations. Back nine was better, but front nine was frustrating for a non-scramble round. Course was long and soft in places, likely from heavy watering because of the string of 100+ degree days recently. Fairways and greens both a bit fuzzy. Still playable, but running slow from tee through green. Course is a parkland layout and enjoyable, but not super memorable. There are a few blind tee shots and greens where playing with a member was helpful, but overall pretty fair. Worth playing if you're local, but I likely won't make the drive out too often; nothing too distinguishing vs many of the other Sacramento-area municipal courses.

Haven't played here in a couple years. Was invited and played in the men's invitational Saturday 11am tee time. Staff is great friendly check-in and practice green and driving range right out the back door near the first tee. Range has many targets and mats are used. Limited to 200 yards or less so the driver out of play for most. I couldn't recall that last time and found out the fence at the end of the range has falled down exposing the 8th tee box to the long balls. The city has not put a plan or funding in place to rectify this, nor have they repaired or replace the beverage cart instead using a gas powered maintenance gator? Not what the members like and they feel slighted that the sister course nearby (Woodcreek) is getting the $$ and things are neglected here. The greens are nice and smooth rolling muni-medium speed. The 10th had some damage in front. The fairways ok some thin spots and the rough variable. About what I'd expect. Maintained but not high level. Bunkers no report looked ok, not machined and not a factor in our format. Enjoy the routing and Theodore Robinson (1963) classic design. First-Flights review describes the rest. Fun for the value and great company with our opponent playing partners Ken and Al. Burger was good from the busy snack shop after round. $12 with fries. Nice beer selections.

First time here, played a really smokey and windy, but fun round at D. O. on Sep 8th.
Typical C19 features like foam in cups, no flags on practice green, no rakes, and no indoor loitering(outdoor loitering ok). D.O. is mostly straight forward tree lined golf, however, at least a third of holes have challenges that should be respected and given attention. From the tees, some par 5s and 4s had elevated LZs or a rise to hit blindly beyond. And still, other holes have pretty good side slope to the fairways, that even a well placed drive with roll out might flirt with the fairway rough(reminds me of some holes found at places I like...Diamond Bar, Jurupa Hills & Mt Woodson).
The tees were good, I played whites, except one, that all you needed to do was move closer to the left marker or just move deeper from the tees.
The fairways were good, mowed well and lush to hit from.
Rough was both good and penal, but mostly good. Rough is used more than fairway bunkers here, and should be respected.
Traps were in good shape and predictable to hit out of, no issues.
Greens, accepted shots well, especially high rpm shots from within 150. Greens were rolling at a medium pace and only the side break was tough to master.
Areas around the greens, were very healthy and could be found at many different cuts and depths...read these lies carefully.
We warmed up on the range and saw that we were starting with a full club headwind. By the turn, we were dealing with 1 club side wind and 2 club headwinds! I lost two in the rough and one in the drink, but still shot a few strokes above my average. We enjoyed good customer service and many cold loiter lagers. Price is right and recommended.

Played mid-Am on Friday the 5th day after the Fourth holiday. Course has a lot of play and a bit behind on tee time(s). Pace was steady but not stellar. We weren't pushed from behind but waited often for the group in front of us. Hot and sunny mid 90's Sacramento valley summer day a slight breeze seeking shade for relief between shots. Greens good on slower side not many ball marks. Fairways / rough good overall mix of grasses in areas. Bunkers thin in spots I found played ok. A classic course with the side markers 200/150/100 posts om every hole made it easy to know your approach yardage(s).
Customer service great cart out and around a few times on front and just in time on back to quench our thirsts for the last few holes. It maybe a typical muni but the 17th and 18th are tough par 4's Especially the 18th got to be long and still have a long approach for the 2nd shot.
Beer was cold and the day hot. Golf was great with the company I kept.
Good city owned muni. With plenty of salt and pepper and silver haired players. Mix in a few younger players too and it was all having a fun round. Marshall was out and passed a few times didn't have need to interact with us.

This was our second round in Roseville yesterday. With a quick early round in, we bumped our tee time up at Diamond Oaks to 8:58 and played as a twosome behind some slower morning groups. Nobody was really pushing from behind us, so much of our back nine was spent taking 10-15 minute breaks and then playing a couple holes at a time without having to wait. Better than waiting on every shot! Still, the overall pace wasn't really that bad. Probably about 4:20 total, which is good at a course that gets a lot of play. We used a Costco twosome voucher for a good price. The course was in solid condition. Again, for a course of this caliber, nothing much to complain about. The tee boxes were fine. The fairways and rough were a mix of bermuda and kikuyu (more kikuyu, though), but fairly well maintained with mostly good coverage. You just had to pay attention to the lies before swinging. The bunkers were on the thin side. I found them just adequate enough while ppark81 found them to be way too firm. As was the theme for this trip, the greens here were excellent. They were receptive and rolling smooth at medium/fast speeds. I was impressed by the greens at almost every course I played on this trip! I would say Diamond Oaks is a decent, slightly-above-average muni kind of layout (Ted Robinson). Some basic parkland holes and a few that are more interesting with trees and hazards in play. Not worth going too far out of your way for, but another good local option in an area (Roseville/Lincoln/Rocklin north part of Sacramento) that is stacked with so many courses.

Second half of my Roseville double today at 1PM, sunny and warm with almost no wind. Course was uncrowded and we played at our own pace until running up on a deliberate 3some on #11, then things slowed down. Overall pace just under 4 hours.

Greens are smaller here than at Woodcreek but were in good condition, and rolled well at medium speed. Fairway lies were generally good. Rough was playable and traps were in good condition. Tees were not generally in very good shape, frequently unlevel, and par 3 tees were in terrible condition with several days worth of gouges showing, and no sand available to fill divots.

Many areas of the rough away from the fairways had drainage issues, resulting in soggy conditions and deep grass. DO plays through a smaller area than Woodcreek, with many parallel fairways and not a lot of unique design (it's a Ted Robinson, so consider it a poor man's Tustin Ranch for layout, topography, and hole mix).

Diamond Oaks and Woodcreek are City of Roseville courses, but Woodcreek was generally in much better condition today, and DO looks like it's getting shorted on maintenance resources. Given these cautions, still recommended. We enjoyed a leisurely round under good conditions.

For the rate not bad and a beautiful design. Lots of mature oaks as the course weaves through the roseville development. some houses but not too many. It's worht the fee.

I played this course on 6/30/12, at 11am. The Pro shop is well-stocked and carry about everything you would need. The driving range is well maintained, except you have to use a mat. The course was a pleasant surprise. Although, not overly difficult, the fairways are tight, so you can't be too aggressive off the tee. The rough was about 2 inches high, and the fairways were lush. The greens were excellent, nice pace, with slope that make you think. The bunkers were had soft sand. This course is a very well-maintained municipal course in Roseville, CA. If in the area, be sure to play this course.

Played the course on Sunday morning 8/22/2010. To start, the pro shop register was down so we were told they would only accept cash. If you didn't have cash go to the restaurant and use the ATM. Of course there's a $1.50 fee for that. While I can understand this may be a frustrating situation, customer service was the last thing on their agenda. I assume this is a rare occurance. Once we got going we discovered that none of the GPS systems on the carts work. Would have been nice if that was posted somewhere or if they offered a discount. All in all the course is in decent shape. It's a fun layout that offers lots of scoring opportunities. The signature par 5, 10th hole requires a tee shot over the lake and and hill beyond. If you can run it down the hill you've got a good shot at getting home in two. The course runs through the trees and some houses in Roseville and provides some slight elevation changes. The greens were the slowest I've played in some time and had quite a bit of divot damage. Not enough to make it a bad experience, but more than I would expect. The rough is thick and grabby while the bunkers were perfect. As for warm up they have a decent range with mats only and a large putting area. The chipping green is very small and severly sloped. Once you're done there is a Legends and Hero's sports bar. Don't kid yourself. It's more like a cafe with some TV's. Decent food but Sports bar is not an accurate description. It's a nice course, fun layout, but I was a little dissapointed this time.
