Played Wed 6/16, 10:50 tee time, 4 some. Warm day, but didn't break 100 like forecast, and breeze made it nice most of the round. Course in average muni summer shape. Very playable. It took me 10 holes to figure out the greens are very grainy, and will play slow into the grain (about 7 or 8 stimp), and 11 down grain. I had a 15 ft downhill birdie putt off a mound that I left 5 ft short, and I couldn't figure out why. Thinking back, it was probably into the grain. Once I figured it out, my putting improved greatly, though I did give up a few 3 putt pars on the par 5s. OVerall, the course is mostly wide open off the tee, with large greens, rolls through the hills. The bunkers are in disrepair. They haven't even tried to maintain them since covid. The regulars don't play out of them. I went into one fairway bunker that was literal beach sand bumpy... So i just gave myself a lie. So, generally a fun course, in average shape, that I would play anytime, but wouldn't go out of my way to get there. Hopefully that changes over time.

Course in winter condition in fairways and rough. some dormant areas but could play the ball down fairly all day everywhere which was our goal as it was a match play NCGA game for a couple higher indexes (21+) Course is part of Sun City 55+ community with 36 holes available.
Tee boxes a bit beat up and unlevel. (whites) Bunkers not well kept lack of racking and a machine drag would help but ok if you avoided footprints. fine white sand.
Greens good shape but on the slow side. You could hit putts aggressively uphill downhill were not scary fast.
Staff were all good. Did not try the 19th hole but in the past it's better than average food. Beverage cart once on front once on back. Coors light pint bottle reasonable at $4.50
Match finished 18 all square, coin flip result was play another match before 4/1 rather than sudden death playoff. Good day 57 degrees light breeze second round this year in shorts.

Played Wed 8/16, 10am tee time; 4 hr rd as 2some. Course in pretty good shape. A bit weather beaten, but not as bad as you'd think. Fairways were pretty good, with moderate divot damage. Greens in great shape. soft, and true, rolling a slow 10. Bunkers were the weak spot. many not raked, and some baked out. Tee boxes were hit or miss, but not unplayable. Customer service excellent. Drink cart came around once. Course is rolling and somewhat forgiving off the tee. Big greens. had a great time.

My brother joined me for the round on the Hills course. I had booked a pre-paid deal time through TeeOff.com. With a promo code, it ended up only being $47 for two players, which is about the same price they were charging for a single player on other non-deal times. It was Christmas afternoon and the pro shop closed at noon, so we enjoyed our own relaxed pace. A few singles played through us along the way. As I noted in my Orchard review, the rain has provided some good and bad elements for these courses. The good is that they look beautiful, very lush and green. The bad is that everything is shaggy and there are a lot of mushy spots, too. Hills seemed a bit more disheveled than Orchard. Fairways seemed even shaggier and mushy spots even more pronounced. I'm really just nitpicking, though, because for winter both courses are in fabulous shape. The rough is thick and brutal, and you really had to keep your eye on the ball to keep from losing it once it settled in. The bunkers were kind of a mess. I can tell they are normally pretty nice when not ravaged by so much rain, though there were a ton of footprints in all of them and that is disappointing. Greens were nice and rolling at medium speeds, but again too many unrepaired marks. Sad. I preferred Hills over Orchard and that seems to be the common consensus, though both courses are very enjoyable. Hills offers a slightly tighter, more "target" design, but I still think it's fairly forgiving throughout. The greens on Hills are much bigger with more severe breaks and shelves. At times this course reminded me of Strawberry Farms down in the OC, but a lot better priced! I'd recommend either course in a heartbeat. Great facility, wonderful staff and very nice courses.

Everything else about the course is in good shape. They have one of the better practice facilities in the area with a large putting green and chipping area behind a large range.

This was my first time back in about 3 years. Reading past reviews about slow play and long rounds on the other Orchard course I was cautious, but thought things may have changed. That was not the case for the Hills course, we stood around looking at the 3 groups in front of us on each tee for about 6 hours. It was miserable. Why is it like this? My observations: No marshall on a busy weekend and two tournaments scheduled first thing in the morning. We arrived to play at 11am, we teed off at noon. If they tell you they are behind by 20 mins when you check in, RUN! Don't pay, they really mean they are behind an hour. Here's the info on the course conditions, but it shouldn't matter, you really should not play this course until they get their act together. They are charging $70 for a 6 hour round, this is ridiculous for NorCal. Greens: Sandy, probably still recovering from aeration. They were quick on the non sandy parts with some tough breaks if you didn't keep it under the hole. Balls were holding on approach just fine. Fairways: Excellent condition, nothing more to add. Rough: Excellent condition, and thick. If you missed the fairway you could find it, but not really able to go for the green. Overall: I love the course layout, and used to love playing here, but I won't be back. Read my reviews, I'm not usually negative, but I agree with all the previous posts (check Orchard course reviews too) from the last few years about slow rounds. They have lost control.

Good course with wide open fairways. Good fun for everyone. Played in a friend's family annual golf tournament and it was perfect for all skill levels. Gets hot in late July here, so play early. We played late. A pleasant 80 degrees when we started, but 95 when we finished.

Played on Saturday 5/10/2008. Arrived at 12:45 after calling and them assuring me that they could get me on as a single. They apparently had some big NCAA womens tournament on the other course but because of the tournament, they would not allow paying guests to use the range or even putting green despite the fact that both were only about 20% occupied with competitors. While waiting for my round I stepped onto the driving range to stretch and although there were a total of two of the college girls on the range, the starter yelled at me to get off. Other than that the staff was fairly nice.

The course itself is actually a pretty good design from tee to green and I was surprised by the good condition of the fairways, fairway rough and bunkers but the greens themselves are a joke. All but two of them are seperated into multiple tires by these enourmous hills right in the middle. Some of them were just missing the clown's mouth. You could literally go five feet from the hole, drop the ball from shoulder height and the ball would roll 50 feet down the hill. They were also rock hard so if you landed the ball on the top tier with anything longer than an 8-iron in could very easily skip of the back. The worst part about them was they were slow compared to the firmness. There is nothing worse than rock-hard yet slow greens.

Also, don't expect to go to this course for a relaxing round of golf in the hills. There are homes all over the course and although they don't come into play, they are not the most attractive of sights. You also have to constantly cross busy streets when going from green to tee which can get annoying.

I got to play for $45 using the West Coast Valuebook which made it a decent deal but if I had to pay full price (I believe it is $70 or so) I would have been pissed as it is nowhere near a $70 course IMO. If you can get a decent rate or can play it for free it might be worth playing but at full price, I would definitely look elsewhere. There are too many decent courses in the area.
