Played Wed 4/19, 7:50 tee time; 3:30 round as a 2some. Course in fantastic shape. Fairways and rough are lush. Well maintained. Greens are true... punched 4 weeks ago and fully healed. A bit slow; don't know if that's normal or due to punch. A slow 10 on the stimp. This course usually drains well, and all of the rain we've been getting has helped the course. A challenging layout with doglegs and bunkers; seems like many of the approaches were slightly uphill. and no mosquitos today.

Teal Bend was the last course we played on our trip which is right by the SAC airport. We walked on as a twosome and got right out on a Sunday 9/11 mid-day. $47 with no GPS. It’s been awhile since I’ve played TB and found it in very good condition. Surprised to see how green it was. The starter says they get their water right from the Sacramento River which is very close to the course so looks like they get plenty of moisture. Well kept, Bermuda fairways with very few divot holes. The Bermuda rough was also in good shape. The greens were just ok. They rolled well but some were a bit chewed up. Many un-repaired ball marks. Tee boxes were fine but sand traps were damp and hard. Course knowledge helps on where to hit some shots as many of the holes are dog legs and you need to get it out far enough to get a clear second shot. The back is a bit harder but the front 9 is challenging as well. TB is a fun course and is worth the time to stop and play. I will definitely make it appoint to come back.

Teal Bend is a fun course to play. A lot of dog legs, which can be tricky if you don't have a laser to know how far to hit it. Greens were punched recently when we played so they gave us a voucher to play again before the end of the year--all for $47. The greens really weren't too bad even still as they're normally above average quality year round. Course can be had by long hitters but taming if hitting astray.

Played Teal Bend on 6/19/16. Greens are in really good shape. The Tee boxes were a little beat up and shaggy. Fairways were in good shape while the bunkers were lacking sand and very dry and crusty. The layout of the course is decent. It has a few holes with water and most of the fairways are lined with trees and berry bushes and thick rough. The signature hole has to be the par 5 17th. This is a sharp dogleg right with water between you and the turn. Safe tee shot is down the left short of the left bunker. Big hitters can challenge the water which has a bunker at the end of it. If you can carry the water and bunker it's a short to mid iron in to a medium sized green that is protected by bunkers short right and left. All in all it's a nice course but a little pricey at $66 rack rate on the weekend. They do have birthday golf on the day of.

Played Teal Bend on a Sunday, first day after the time change back from day light savings. Had an 11:40 tee time and that was $46 bucks. Not bad. This course had a few "funky" holes. Some short holes with doglegs, then some real nice holes with length. Not very challenging bit not a bad layout either and was worth the time. Fun course and I will go back again for sure. There are a lot turkeys on the course and I don't mean golfers. Real turkeys (gobble gobble) which is something you just don't see on L.A. golf courses.

A lot of short holes, Not too many water hazards but bushes and overhanging trees from the tee boxes to protect the corners. Bermuda Greens and fairways but greens were punched 10 days before and were healing with the occasional bounce that knocks it off line, It was strange to see them punched this early (Aug). Course is heavily watered overnight but dried nice as the day went on. Tuff to bounce chips on since it is hard to predict what is going to happen with that type of grass. Clay/Sand in the bunkers with consistency of wet beach sand. Fun course, Very humid, would like to return when the greens are in good shape.

Played Sunday 7/14. Fisrt let me say the course is very playable. We played early and if you do the same be advised the greens will be wet (not mowed and rolled). I had a grreat time but it was more about the playing partner and the fact that I shot 77 than the course conditions. Again - more than playable, but I was amazed at how many divots I had to fix on greens. Greens were good but a lot of ball marks. The greens were soft and receptive. Fairways were a little overwatered and brown in spots but overall fine. Bunkers were all dragged and raked which surprised me. They put that much effort into the bunkers but not the greens??? At $65 it's a little pricey for the conditions, but the soure plays fine. If you haven't played it the signature hole is 17. Risk reward! It's a par 5 that you can play safe to the left and make it a 3 shot par 5 or you can take on the water and bunkers to theb right. Clear it and you have a middle iron in. Miss and you can make a big number. No issues with the course, just wish it was in a little better shape. It has all the amenities as far as range putting dinning, etc. Lastly, if you are bothered by draginflies don't come here. They were everywhere. At leat this time of year. Other times of year they actually have bug spray on the first tee. FYI

Played 4/5 10 am 4.5 hrs. A fun course layout with some fun interesting holes. Fairly open with not a lot of trouble. Fairway's 99% green and mostly lush. A couple were dry, but very playable. Most T's in great shape with a couple par 3 boxes pretty beat up. Greens still showed the scares from the last aeration, but mostly visual. Did notice a few putts bouncing on their line, but over all they were in decent shape. Speed was somewhere around a quick medium. Didn't find any traps. Green side looked good and the fairway traps looking very firm. Course is very wooded so errant shots can find trouble, but most fairways are very generous. Course knowledge can be important on a couple of the holes. No GPS and no sprinkler yardage markers made approch shots just a calculated guess.

Teal Bend Golf Course is located off the east bank of the Sacramento River dead west of Sacramento Intl. airport. With it's location being so close to a water source, the entire course is laid out through a wooded track with adjacent ponds which suggest this location might routinely flood if it weren't for the levy between the course and the river. This same floodplain location provides for a completely flat layout, but because the wooded areas effectively block out nearby landmarks, each hole feels independent and isolated from the rest of the course which gives this course an intimate feel. Water comes into play on three holes, the rest of the course is pretty forgiving due to it's wide layout and carefully crafted undulations along the fairway assures not every single approach shot will be hit off of 100% flat ground. There is also a pretty good application of sand traps distributed along the course requiring consideration for many approach shots onto the green.

Speaking to the conditions of the course, the tee boxes were generally level though a couple were uneven or bowl shaped. The par three boxes were in reasonable shape, and all tee boxes were kept clean of broken tees and various other clutter. The fairways were all green and lush to hit off of, no thin spots to really note though I did note some brown area of grass on the first fairway. The rough on several of the back nine holes had areas of dirt, but overall the amount of bare ground doesn't warrant any massive backlash to the course's condition. The sand traps were a mixed bag of being either too wet to sort of decent playing, there's plenty of sand to hit into along the course but the permeating thought is that the sand is too moist to feel comfortable hitting good clean shots out of. The greens were slow to begin, a pinch bumpy but also quite wet, I plugged my ball into the green on the par 3 12th hole. It didn't help that we were following a groundsman who was watering the greens ahead of us at 12:30 in the afternoon, even on our second play through in the later part of the day the greens were still quite slow.

Though the above might come off as a bit of a nit-picky review, the overall conditions of the course were very favorable for quality golf play. With no homes located along any of the fairways and the closed in feel provided by the woodlands, only the sounds of planes taking off or arriving into Sac Intl. provide distraction for what is otherwise a really nice course to play. Bring your buddies out for a fun day of golf, the layout is accommodating for novice players with enough sand to keep skilled shooters entertained.
