Played 6/23 mid-early morning on a beautiful sunny day. A gentle breeze not like the howling winds of 6/8 review. Course was cleaned up from wind damage but leaf debris persists in some rough areas of play. Pace of play was a bit slow 4 3/4+ hours. Got going well then slowed down and picked up for a few holes before backing up some coming in. I think typical of the time of day and season.

Well maintained. Greens a bit slow (medium pace) so manageable above the hole putting. Fairways good with roll out on f drives, rough long enough to stop some pulled tee shots saving a lateral hazard drop. Straying left or right most holes past the rough and it's tough to find in the thicket.

Good value with a 2 for $79 with a bucket of range balls they sold for father's day promotion. Not sure the rack rate for this time. Recommend.

Course is in great shape. The WIND was a factor! Branches 4+ inches breaking. Leaves swirling blustery stiffy winds all 18 holes and I'm still smiling.

Greens rolled smooth and med fast. all putts had to factor in wind direction all day. Leaves in fairway rough abundant could lose your ball without a watchful eye.

A Challenging day to say the least. All course amenities as expected.

Played here on a Saturday in late April with my regular club.

Arrival/Check in: Customer service is always top notch, when available, cart staff meets you at your car to help load up. Pro shop super friendly and helpful. Check is was a breeze.

Practice facility: One of the nicer public practice facilities in the Sacramento area. Grass driving ranch, large putting green that is indicative of the playing course, and a chipping/bunker practice green to boot. Top notch.

Course conditions: Mostly positive. Fairways in nice, late Spring shape. Rough was decent, although there is a few native grass areas I could do without. Tee boxes where ok, but a few could use some TLC such as seed mix, etc. Plenty of sand in bunkers, which is a nice surprise for the Sacramento area. Greens were top notch, rolled smooth and fast. The only negative was that there were some heavy mosquito areas due to the close proximity to the Sacramento area. Bring your bug spray until the course dries out a bit more.

Layout: A fun interesting layout wedged between the Sacramento Airport and Sacramento River. Lots of trees, blackberry bushes bordering fairways, and native plants. I enjoy that each hole is separated for the most part by native bushes, grasses, and trees, creating a nice isolated feel on each hole.

Amenities: Course was marshaled and they did their job well. Beverage cart was available starting at 10AM. Food and drink at the on-course restaurant was excellent. Quite underrated actually.

My group will be back and so will I when I can fit it on my schedule.

Played 4/6, Sat AM.. got tee time night before on line for $39. 7am tee time; 3 1/2 hr rd as a 2some. Greens punched I guess 2 weeks ago, and still a little bumpy, probably 2 weeks away from 90% healed. But playable. Hadn't rained in a few days, and not that bad... course pretty dry, fairways and green very dry, bunkers a bit of a mess. Some of the rough areas were muddy and not mowed. But certainly very very playable.

Played Thanksgiving day, 8am shotgun. After about 15 straight hours of rain that let up about 6am, we played in a crisp, cool sunny morning, with a slight breeze. I've always said the course drains really really well, and the course was 80% dry. Some areas of rough were sloppy, but far and few between. Some standing water in about 30% of the bunkers. Greens were perfect, a little on the slow end, but faster than you would think... slow 10 maybe on the stimp. They are doing bunker construction, so about 10-15 bunkers are GUR. Overall a great day, on a course in great shape.

Pro shop and Bar/Restaurant Staff were outstanding. Fully stocked pro shop. Very nice practice area including full grass driving range, chipping area, and putting green.

Course itself was in good shape for the middle of July. Fairways were still green and had plenty of turf. Tee boxes were good. Greens were soft and rolled true.

This course is unique in the Sacramento area being that the course winds through the native trees and blackberry bushes that are native to the area (being near the Sacramento River). The courses is located right behind the Sacramento Airport, but one wouldn't know it unless you catch a glimpse of a taxiing plane though the trees on the back nine.

Highly recommended in the Sacramento area.

Played in NCGA event (not very well) Sat 5/26/18 9Am and pace at 4.5+ ok for holing everything play it down. The course is in decent condition for the time of year. But a consistent challenge for Teal for years are ball marks on greens. Both 1 and 10 have sign and basket of plastic divot tools. Doesn't effect play as much as frustrating why this simple task is ignored. Plenty of time for me to fix several whenever the chance arose.

Teal is near the SMF airport and the Sac river. No fog issues but early at certain times of year it can be a concern. Greens putted well held too. Bunkers good as the fairways.

Nice course to play as their are no houses around but the laterals and Ob tough or impossible to find in that thicket plenty of cottontail habitat.

Addendum about rules course markings for tournament play below:

One concern being a tournament would be lateral hazard marking / posts not well defined or enough of them. On hole 3 I hit two in the same spot left side dogleg right using the provisional rule when we got there one stake is seen ahead none behind no red line all the players in my group agreed in the lateral interpretation. Later on the 8th I hit approach right and at the fork of cart path for 8 and 18 ends up in the vee of the cart paths on rocks 3" from cement the direction I want to go. The tourney director is there and mentions there are red stakes here but not there where your nearest point of relief is but the same brier patch as where other red stakes are, and if I took a drop and it rolled into the crappolla I was out of luck play it as it liesor take an unplayable for a stroke. Whereas in a weekend round with the boys take a drop for relief without regards to the technicality of rolling in the thicket drop twice and place it move on without delay. The grounds crew not painting the red lines or the course budget can't afford more stakes. I hit it where it was off the rocks to near green chip and easy one putt bogey net par.

A flat no elevation course that I like to keep in the rotunda and will be back with game next time.

Been a while since I wrote. I’m back to playing on a regular bases, most days that end in y. Played at Teal Bend by Sacramento yesterday. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Had breakfast, the food was very good and more than I care to eat.
The layout is challenging for the first time playing there. The conditions were marginal, they had aeriated about a week ago so the greens where poor at best. BUT in their defense, they gave me a free round in the future. The fairways are hard and fast so even a mis hit will run forever. All in all this is a good course worth playing and I will be back.

Stopped here to break up my drive north today. I found a $12 GN hot deal yesterday for a 12:10 tee time and couldn't ask for better value than that. It was a nice clear day, though still fairly chilly... Continue »

Stopped here to break up my drive north today. I found a $12 GN hot deal yesterday for a 12:10 tee time and couldn't ask for better value than that. It was a nice clear day, though still fairly chilly and really windy. Plenty of people out on the course. I was paired with another single and a nice Ukrainian couple. We teed off precisely at 12:10 and finished at 4pm just about on the dot, so good overall pace. Would have been faster but the bro-some in front of us slowed down a bit on the back nine and we pushed them all the way in. Conditions are what I expected and feared considering it's been a relatively dry winter so far. Similar to some other Sacto/Norcal experiences in the past with everything being pretty much dormant. The tee boxes and fairways are completely dormant brown (or gold if you want to romanticize it a bit). Lots of roll-out on drives and actually decent tight lies to hit from for the most part. Playing better than it looked. Rough is more dappled with some green patches and brown patches. Again, looks ugly, but not too bad to play from. The greens were nice to putt on rolling at medium/fast speeds. I felt they were a bit inconsistent in terms of receptiveness. Some shots really stuck super soft while others bounced like cement trampolines. I wasn't in a bunker, but they appeared pretty good. I've always heard this is a solid course and I cannot disagree in terms of layout. It's an enjoyable course, forgiving off the tee and tricky around the greens. Nice setting with no houses or buildings around (some air traffic noise from Sacto airport next door and Beale AFB not too far away). Parts of this course setting-wise kind of reminded me of Goose Creek. Unfortunately, very, very far from Goose conditions today or probably during most winters up here. This is one I'd like to revisit at a better time of year because it has plenty of character for a good price.
