played sun 2/23, 8:30am, cool day with a moderated breeze. Course in decent muni shape. Not ideal, but very playable... divots in the fairway, ball marks not repaired, etc. Greens running a fast 10... bumpy, lots of ball marks. The one bunker i landed, hole 16 greenside. it was hard packed, no sand.. was able to chip it out. I always enjoy this course, not long, but not easy. Can go low here due to shorter holes, but overall, need to hit it straight and putt well on these huge greens.

Played 11/27/24 9:40 POP 4:45. Foggy and cold start. When we arrived around 8:30. we were not sure if we could even play, but the fog burned off and turned into a pretty nice day. The course is in good shape over all. Winter conditions, Fairways thin and moist. Decent coverage, but mostly on the thin side. A mixture of lies, with mostly good. Greens were very good. receptive and fairly quick. It took a few hours for the heavy dew to dry so the first 6-7 hole were pretty wet. After that they were very good. Many unrepaired pitch marks. Traps are a course sand and looked firm, but played consistently well. A fun layout and mix of hole designs with many semi driveable 4s. This seems to add to the slow play because of people waiting for greens to clear. A fairly short course with numerous hazards that make it semi target golf. Driving range with mats and a large putting/Chipping green off by its self. A fun course in decent to good shape.

Played Sunday 4/8 , 830 shotgun, 5 1/2 hr round. Course punched 3 weeks ago, and still pretty bad. I think they need more sanding, as there were too many holes unfilled. At this pace, they are probably at least 3 more weeks away to be playable, but bumpy. The rest of the course is in pretty good shape. Fun layout, not overly long, but demands some accuracy on most holes, with water, barrancas and penalizing fairway bunkers. The greens are huge and moderately undulating, and approaches require good club selection to have a chance. The bunker sand was replaced from the last time I played 5+ years ago, and they are in pretty good shape. It's a nice routing in better than average muni shape. Had a great time.

Played 8/12 off at 12:20. Course isn't terribly long, but a fun layout that requires some thought and strategy to attack effectively. Always a good time. Condition can be hit or miss in some aspects. Lots of bare spots, some soggy spots (had one approach shot plug near a green even in august), and the bunkers are still in really bad shape. Hard, crunchy sand, standing water in ~50% even if small puddles. Fairway and large bunkers tended to be much worse than closer greenside bunkers. Grass is patchy in places, especially in rough, don't be surprised to end up on hard pan. Fairways generally in good shape though. Greens were soft and receptive, rolled a bit quick and pretty true. Not enough folks repair their pitch marks, like most public courses these days. Worth the twilight rate but not as appealing at full freight given some of the conditions.

Not sure how many are on the course, seems like I found most of them today. But all in all, a nice variety of shots and the greens are quick and true.

Played 9/18, shotgun start scramble. Pleasant day, 1 club wind most of the day. Course in good shape. Haven't played here in a decade, and only twice at that... it's an interesting track, with some long par 4s, a variety of hazards. Definitely enjoyed the round. Not an easy course at all. Greens running a fast 10 and mostly true. The course was mostly dry, with spots of overwatering. 50% of the bunkers are unplayable. Our scramble was bunkers are GUR. I would play here more if I didn't have to cross the causeway. But a fun round recommended.

I think rate was $50 (Friday) or so and that maybe a bit higher than the course value in my opinion. Range and clubhouse facilities are great. Overall the course a bit shabby than it could be. Probably budget keeps it that way?
Greens were aerated per the GK schedule 9/25 and I'd say healing slowly and shaggy. Slow and slower speeds and it wasn't if it would bounce but how many times on putts of length.
Fun design and interesting track with plenty of lengthy holes an challenges. Bunkers were mix of hardpan mud and a few machine worked shallow covering in some greenside.
For me in the Sacramento area to make the drive to Davis CA where Wildhorse is it's bit of a drive W on highway 80 over the wetland area (the causeway)
Don't play here often but when I do it seems consistent with other reviews here.
The burrowing owls that live on edges of course knew I was there and stayed underground for their own safety.

Winter conditions Update! The course is a little rough right now. Play Winter rules an you'll be fine. Fairways are a little splochy (is that a word). There are spots on the fairways where you'll nee'd to move your ball to find some grass. In addition the fairways are cut very tight. Greens and bunkers are great. It's still a fun layout and the best draining course in the area but just wanted to let everyone know it needs a little TLC right now.

Poana blooms caused an occasional bump. Speed around medium. Traps poor. Mostly hardpan. Fun lay out with a nice mixture of hole designs.
