This is my first time playing Eagle Ridge and it's hard to say whether I'd play it again or not. I liked the layout a lot. Challenging and strategic yet enough grip it and rip it holes with elevation changes to make it fun. Only one water hazard but several forced carries over gullys and such.

Conditions were average. Greens were very challenging in that they all had severe undulations. I have No problem with that at all. Greens rolled smooth if you didn't have any pitch marks in your line. There were several un repaired pitch marks on almost every green. Being that we were the second group out I put the blame 50/50 on players and course. Yes the golfers need to repair their pitch marks. That's a given. But the course would also have their maintenance crew fix them in the morning as well. Just my thoughts. Greens rolled medium - fast and held well struck approach shots.

Fairways had a lot of thin and brown spots throughout the entire course. I managed to land in good lies most of the day but there were some seriously ugly spots out there.

Tee boxes were ok. Decently level with adequate coverage. I avoided the rough for the. It's part. Nothing sticks out one way or the other

Sand traps are horrible. They have signs in the bunkers that say ground under repair and the guy at the pro shop confirmed that the bunkers are all GUR with free drops. He was right.

For $40 ea with a golf moose it was worth playing. I wouldn't pay more than that though.

Fifth course played on a California golf trip up the coast. Showed up to find out the greens had been punched last Monday and Tuesday which was pretty disappointing. Once we got out on the course though it was fantastic. Fairways were great, views were great, and the layout was fantastic. They did a good job punching the greens and the ball actually rolled fine. I would love to come back and play this course when the greens are healed.

This was my second round today, with a 10:40 start. I was paired with another twosome and we had to wait on the group ahead on most holes, but the pace overall was pretty good for mid-morning on a Saturday at under 4.5 hours. The course is in very nice overall shape. The tee boxes were great and the fairways were lush with good lies throughout. The rough was spottier the further you got off the fairways, but the primary cuts were generally nice and not too penal. The greens were soft and receptive, though very deceptive on putts. They were much quicker than they looked. Uphill putts you had to hit quite firmly, but anything downhill was hard to stop past the hole. I wasn't in any bunkers, but from what I saw they looked okay at best. Eagle Ridge was designed by Johnny Miller's design group and it did bear some similarities with Maderas and Whitney Oaks, the other two Miller courses I've played. The greens are gigantic and feature all sorts of crazy slopes and undulations. There are big bunkers and narrow/sloped landing areas. For most of the front nine, the layout is pretty tame and that's where you need to get your scoring done. Then from hole 8 on, this course does not let up. Holes 10 and 11 are relatively benign, but then it gets super tough the rest of the way. There are some very narrow and uncomfortable tee shots, forced carries to elevated greens and many big old oak trees directly in play. This course will test your patience and every element of your game, but it is a pretty fun ride and also a very nice overall setting. I would recommend it to anyone, but be prepared for a roller coaster ride on the back nine!

Does not make things any easier. Based on previous reviews the course has obviously deteriorated over the past 6 months. Not many people on course so made for a fast round. The bright spot in the course were the greens In excellent condition for the most part and rolled very true. Do not pay rack rates.

Played here yesterday 12/19. Weather was perfect, no wind, about 65 degrees, sunny and clear. Walked on as single and needed to tee off right away or wait and play behind a three foursomes. Let me say that the guy in the shop and the starter where great and very apologetic for rushing me to the tee. This is the only part of the day that was a downer I was paired with a guy that would not stop talking! He insisted on telling me where to hit the ball and then gave me a running commentary on the game his and mine. Needless to say my game was in the toilet.
As far as the course is concerned it is a very challenging layout that needs to be played several times to really understand where the targets are and what the keys are. The condition of this course is great, the greens are smooth firm and fast they are good size and very undulating plus it appears that they all tilt towards the valley. The fairways where owed tight and allowed a fair amount of roll. The rough was mowed even to about 3-4" and it is lush and will grab the club if the ball settles down.
All in all I must say that I enjoyed playing here and will play here on a more regular basis it's a very good value for $49 senior rate. I highly recommend this at least once.

first time playing on 4/5, had heard it was a tough/typical johnny miller layout. Was pleasantly surprised, definitely a course that requires you to think through every stroke. Tough for sure, with plenty of trouble, but less than perfect shots were not unduly penalized. reasonable length from the blues, but very few grip + rip holes from the tee, with layouts often ideally calling for a shaped drive or else forcing a shorter club to avoid trouble. Several holes require correct placement of the tee ball or else you will have to shape a shot around trees for your approach. Green complexes are tough with liberal bunkering. The greens are a bit too tricked up for my taste, with a lot of movement and elevation changes such that your target on a 30yd green may only be 8-10yds. Definitely want to stay below the hole! Miss on the wrong level, or even above the hole and you may have a hideous putt. If they were running faster (were probably a 9) they would be almost impossible.
Conditioning was very good, the greens appear to have three different strains on them including poa (looks like camouflage) but credit to the greenskeeping crew, they were reasonably quick and fairly true even towards end of day.
A steal with golfnow hot deal price - will definitely make the trip back!

I went up to see my dad in San Jose and had the chance to play this great golf course. My group teed off Wednesday at 9:00 and didn't wait to hit a shot all day, finishing in 3 1/2 hours. Course conditions were excellent in every way. The greens were fast and smooth. The layout is challenging, but fair. The scenery is beautiful, as the course winds through the hills. I strongly recommend playing here if you find yourself in the San Jose area.

Played twice in the last week and the course is still in very good condition for this time of year. The tee boxes could probably use some flattening out but never had trouble finding a flat spot to hit from off solid ground.

Fairways are absolutely phenomenal right now. Still hard and fast to add some yards for your drives. But at the same time very lush and all lies in the fairway are favorable.

The sand was a little dry but it was consistent and typically plays dry in the afternoon anyways.

Greens didn't look great to the eye. Seemed like they had some damage from ball marks and possibly standing water, but approach shots were sticking to the greens and I never had a single put bounce off line from a bump. They rolled very true and fast.

Bottom line, get on golf now and go play this course. It's challenging for everyone, but at the same time there is a fair tee box location for everyone. Love this place, highly recommend it.

I LIKE THIS COURSE. It is very challenging and can be PENAL if you miss your shot. Especially fairway traps. Sand mostly OK, except for # 10, which was bunk., It wasn't sand but mud. I dont mind being in a trap, just give me a fair chance to get out. Also, some of the traps have gravel in them. At times, thinking mans course. Target golf on some holes. Some fun holes. 12 is a long par 4. Bite off as much of the water on your tee shot as you dare. 18 a fun finishing hole. If you can break 80 from the blues, you have earned it.
